We ate at James Ranch today, been wanting to try this place for such a long time, and we finally were able to. First, the service was good, considering you had to wait in line to order, it went fast, then when your meal was ready you had to go up and get it and anything else you needed. So the cashier was super nice and so was the young man that cleared our table when finished, so that's the service. Excellent ambience for a nice day to eat outside. Clean tables, and no bugs to bother us. Plenty of room for kids to roam and you are able to bring your dogs. That's a plus! The reason I refused to give them a 5 was their food, which some was good some not so good, sure did not look like the pictures online. We had 4 people, 3 of us each got a different type of burger, the Green Chili burger, the Bacon Blue Cheese and the Bitty burger. Each burger's patty was overcooked and the Brioche bun, which drew me to the burgers I expected to be soft was extremely tough, very thick and dry... so in combination of the overcooked patty and the tough, not soft, bun it was not something I would want to order again, I ended up just taking my patty off the bun and not eating the bun, Very disappointed. My husband and son enjoyed the Roc fries with lots of ketchup, but again overcooked and dark. Some may like it that way. But not a fan and will pass on those next time. I would like to go back , maybe we went on an off day. If I go back, I will try something else as my son tried the BLT on the Focaccia Bread and he said it was excellent! read more

The ambiance of this place is the best. Nice, open space for kids to run around and enjoy. The food, however, is pretty disappointing. The burgers are uninspired, and the meat isn't that great. I did really like the fries, though, but they are the type that I like. I think if they improved their drink/alcohol options, this would be a more enjoyable place to hang out and relax. I thought their beers and cider options were pretty lacking. No cocktails. So a great place to stretch your legs and enjoy being outside, but nothing to really savor. read more

This is a tourist spot that is actually phenomenal! The atmosphere to the food to the service! I got a classic cheeseburger and fries and the burger was cooked perfectly. Fries were awesome! I've always passed by, never stopped in, until today. I came in after a day on the mountain. It's counter service which is convenient and I was able to order right away. They're dog friendly on the patio so that was awesome. The view is amazing from the patio and there's plenty of room. Here's what I had: Basic Burger with green chilies- $18. Great flavor, the bun was nice too. The chile was spicy! It didn't blow my mind but was still good. Fries and drink: $5.00. Tasty fries. $25 for burger, fries and drink is expensive but the views are dope so I'd like to try other items. 5 stars for the views and service, plus good burger. read more

My husband and I shared: - Mushroom Belford Burger - Inside Out Melt with a Fried Egg, Bacon, Caramelized Onions - ROC'n Fries - Kale, Carrot, Apple Slaw - Ice Cream Float - Mandarin Orange Tractor Soda The burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had. The melt might have been my favorite thing with the crispy cheese on the outside. The float was delicious. I loved the sauces for the fries. I personally wouldn't get the slaw again because it was more of a kale salad which isn't my thing. You have to order at the counter and then that will bring you your food. The food was very god but small portions. The burgers were good but I wasn't impressed with their cheese. The kids burgers were tiny and we had to order my sons 10 and 6 a regular burger on top of the kids menu. The organic lemonade was delicious, the organic soda was not. The outdoor area with animals was a hit with the kids. The indoor area was clean, nicely decorated and not overly loud. Given the price point this is a one and done visit. read more

This restaurant is located north of Durango several miles. They are a working ranch and serve beef from their own cows, cheese from their dairy cows, and source local veggies. I love all of this! The cheeseburgers are delicious. i ordered a beet salad which was super tasty. You do order from the window out front, then they bring you your food and drinks. There is seating indoors; outdoors on balcony with roof overhead; and on the lawn on picnic tables, which is so nice in the summer and warm weather of fall. Service was quick and friendly. They also have a market within the same building that sells their beef and lots of other goodies. Great place to stop for lunch or dinner! They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

From the time I ordered till the time the food was ready was about a 15 minute wait. The wait to place the order took longer! Hubs & I shared the burger and the fries. It was just enough for us. Please see attached original review, the gracious owner refunded our money after that experience. Please note: their prices have increased roughly $1.50 - $2 due to inflation since 2022. We were visiting Durango with another couple for my birthday. This time I ordered the mushroom Belford burger ($16.75). This came with sauteed cremini mushrooms, caramelized onions, Belford cheese, lightly buttered Brioche bun, a 1/3-pound medium grass fed beef patty, rosemary garlic aioli and a bed of greens. All our food arrived piping hot and my burger was super juicy and the crispy cheese tasted divine. The wife from the other couple said it was the "best burger" she'd ever eaten! I couldn't go that far, but it was a huge improvement in service and delivery from our first visit. We did visit the nearby meat market and purchased Wagyu ground beef, lamb chops and some pork chops. The quality of the meat from this ranch continues to impress us. read more

What a truly unique and delicious experience. I visited here from out of town many years ago and this was my first time coming back. Since then I have dreamt of visiting again and it did not disappoint. The place has only grown. But their burgers were exceptional, you can taste the freshness in each bite. I wished I had another after this one. Their fries were also exceptional although I wish you got more for $11 for a "large". Definitely try their baconaise sauce, it's unique and the perfect dipping sauce. My first visit I had homemade ice cream that was to die for. I was disappointed they did away with it but I did try some of the ice cream in the market and it was pretty good as well. The burgers came out pretty quick, about 10-15 minute wait and there was little to no line when arriving Sunday around 3 PM. They had plenty of seating and the overall vibe was great. Went late in the evening. Beautiful place! Ordered at the window. Picked up our beverages around the side. Found a picnic table and waited for our que to pick up our food while the kids made friends and played. We ordered side salad and a southwest green chili cheese burger with fries. We were visiting Durango for a quick afternoon trip. We had our 10 year old son and dog with us so we were looking for a place where we could bring the dog.
