Great moving company. The owner "Drew" listened to what I needed for my office move. He was able to move my office furniture from one location to another and also dispose of the rest of the furniture for a nominal amount. They were on time, he had three big strong guys working for him, they did not "dilly dally" (or waste time) and he did not try to overcharge. Kept the final price the same as the original estimate. Amazing!!! Super well priced and reliable - would recommend to anyone who needed to move

This was by far my worst move experience ever- and I have moved A LOT. First, my move was scheduled at 8, with drive time from Dorchester to Weymouth- should have been there by 8:30- 8:45 with traffic. They didn't show up until after 9:30. Then, Andrew, the owner miscalculated 80+ boxes, plus my furniture, and sent 3 guys with a 17 foot truck!! Yes- you heard that right a 17 Foot UHAUL truck. Thankfully I had told him my stuff would be too much for 2 men as originally he had considered sending 2 to move me- until I explained that while I didn't have a ton of furniture, I had a LOT of boxes, so he said ok, I will send 3, so it can be done faster. AS If. As soon as I saw the truck I said, my stuff is not going to fit in that. They called Andrew. He sent them to UHAUL- who didn't have bigger trucks- but they could go somewhere else and get one but that would take longer, so why don't you keep this one, and "if you have to take extra trips to the storage, I will work something out with you". Yeah. Three trips and TWELVE HOURS to my storage facility later... They scratched up my antique dresserTo which one of his employees, said well it's old there were scratches on the front of it anyway, (which Andrew swore he was sending his man to fix this week- a week later no calls, nothing!!), They broke the banister from upstairs going downstairs (and which I got a nasty little comment like "oh my God! I can see this is going to turn into a disaster of a night" or something similar and for which I am going to have to pay for- it was not a quick fix, and I had to be out of that house by the 15th, as my landlord had sold the house, and I could not have them send somebody there although I don't believe that they would have- given that they haven't sent somebody to fix my furniture either. When I went back to the house for my fourth trip, and to clean, I found that they had left all the AC adapters for my LCD TVs there, they also left all my power strips there they left other things that I had specifically said needed to go there. The whole move was a disaster! And all Andrew cared about was whether his five star rating was going to get ruined! well guess what they are not professional in the least. These movers are not actual movers he hires people that work for him periodically. They packed up an entire truck with only boxes and then they put in my mattresses on the second trip sideways sideways! What professional mover puts in a mattress sideways and doesn't use it to actually keep furniture in place?! I might not be a professional mover however I have moved with professional movers enough in my life to know how to pack a truck. You also don't pack an entire truck with only boxes, because those also can be used to help keep things in place. So, then when I needed to put things in the Second truck, we couldn't put my TVs in there, "because we don't have anything to hold them up" and they didn't want them to get ruined. Which also caused this move to be 12 hours long! They almost left my Rugs behind- even though at the beginning of the move I had said the rugs all go. At the end they said - "they do"? As a note- they were rolled and tossed- NOT taped!! My newly washed White shag rug was thrown on dirty outdoor Plant Pots with the shag side down. They left the tops of my glass tables behind because apparently you don't need those for coffee tables and for end tables you just need the actual base. They left my brand new $50 washer hoses behind, lied about doing things. WORST MOVERS EVER. Do NOT USE THEM!! *Yes, Andrew was magnanimous enough to give me a whole $400 off my new sense of who was supposed to take four hours according to him. Which I had found hilarious to begin with but he was the professional and a 26 foot truck five hours all they had to do was move the stuff into the truck out of the truck into storage which I purposely got on the first floor. That $400 was supposed to also pay for the banister which is not $100 of it was supposed to pay for the banister I should say the other $300 was supposed to pay for the extra trips going back-and-forth -not even close! Also doesn't pay for the person that's going to have to fix my furniture. It doesn't pay me for the $ that I had to pay the person to come to my house to help me with the stuff that they left behind, or the other two trips I had to take. It's also not going to pay for the person that's going to have to come to move the stuff out of my storage and move it back in so that I can actually get to my things. Because oh did I mention they basically threw my stuff in there as if it was crap! it is piled on top of it self It's a jigsaw puzzle! Absolutely ridiculous! read more

The communication from Pleasant Moving was good leading up to the move. They said they could accommodate a second move on a Saturday (the first move was supposed to be "a few hours.") Then they arrived 4 hours late, at 7:30 in the evening. Leading up to arrival, the owner/manager (Andrew?) told us for 3 hours straight that the truck would be arriving the next hour. When the movers finally arrived, they had been working for hours and were exhausted. My husband and I moved many things ourselves, many labeled boxes were left right in the door or outside in the garage. Someone got hurt and the team had no first aid kit. Everything came to a standstill for about an hour. They even had to call in someone because no one could physically carry our things up the stairs by midnight! I felt really bad about the whole experience, paying by the hour but having to watch people suffer trying to get it done under extreme duress. One or two of the movers were friendly and professional. I still feel bad for them, and I hope they all got the overtime that they legally deserve after that mess. End result: Our brand new kitchen table has damage, we lost a box, a couch was ripped. We carried most of our valuables in trips with our own car and had to help with the physical moving of boxes up and down stairs. All of this is the result of poor management pushing exhausted laborers. Oh, but we got $150 knocked off the price, which was already 3 hours over the estimate. Maybe it wasn't a difficult move - various items and boxes from a storage unit to a basement. But Andrew and his associate arrived early and absolutely worked their butts off. They never let up at all. He was fair with the charges and I would strongly recommend him. He does use a rented truck, but I don't see that as a problem. read more

Do NOT use this company. If I could give them 0 or negative stars I would. We hired Pleasant Moving for a move on 9/29 based on their Yelp reviews and they never showed. They were supposed to arrive at 9am but then called to say they were running late and would be there around 1030am (an hour and a half late). After an hour and a half went by and they had not showed up or called we called again and were told they were still at another job and would be another 40 minutes. Another hour elapsed with no movers and no phone call. We called multiple times as the hours ticked by and no one answered. We never received a call back or any sort of apology and had to hire a separate company to get us out of our place at 8am the following day. HUGE inconvenience. TERRIBLE customer service. There should be some sort of penalty for doing this to people. We were lucky that the tenants moving in could wait the extra 24 hrs for us to move out. If you need to move on a certain day don't trust your move to these people. read more

Tonight we had a massive, solid wood media center to move up to our 2nd floor apartment in Dorchester. We called several moving companies for estimates, but found that other companies had loose hourly rates and could not come out soon enough. When we reached Andrew from Pleasant, he immediately offered to come out that same afternoon, and gave us a fair flat rate along with wrapping in order to keep the piece safe from scratches. Andrew and one other guy showed up exactly on time if not about 10 minutes early, and got right to work. They had this gigantically heavy media center up to the top of our winding staircase and inside our living room within about 25 minutes, start to finish. They made it look easy. We would recommend Pleasant Moving without hesitation to anyone in the Boston area looking for an efficient, cost effective, timely move, or anyone looking for help moving something bulky... I had an excellent experience with Pleasant Moving on 4/14/17. Andrew, the owner, gave me detailed information upfront, explained the cost (very reasonable) and told me he would call a week before to confirm the date and time, which he did. Three guys showed up, including Andrew. They were extremely efficient, took good care of all of my stuff, and were generally really nice guys. Also, they went above and beyond expectations. For example, after getting my huge dresser to the second floor I realized it was too bulky for the bedroom and they moved it down to the basement without one complaint. Also one of the casters broke off my file cabinet and at the end of the move, they went out, bought new ones, came back over and replaced all four so they would match. If I could rate this company negative stars, I would. We had hired them just to unload our truck that was already loaded and ready to go at 7am on 9/2/14 (not crazy moving day like 9/1, and not a holiday either) and they never showed up. At all. Furthermore, they never called to say they weren't coming, never responded to any of the 50+ phone calls and emails and voicemails that we left them, never contacted us afterward to apologize, nothing. It was like we had hired a company that had suddenly ceased to exist. I know the beginning of September is an utterly crazy time for any kind of moving activity in Boston, but you can't just leave people hanging like that. We had to scramble to find another moving service that would help us on that same day because we had to return our truck in the afternoon, which was extremely difficult as well as expensive, and eventually involved hiring random people off the street in order to get it done. Worst moving experience ever. I cannot discourage anyone enough from ever hiring so-called "Pleasant" Moving of Boston again. Even if they sometimes did a good job, they have absolutely no reliability, and the fact that they would treat their customers this way is just appalling. If I were you, I'd run the other way. I had a great experience with Pleasant Moving last weekend. I shopped around for quotes to move my one bedroom apartment, and received some astronomical ones. Pleasant came back with the most reasonable price, and based on yelp reviews and a recommendation from a friend, I booked them. Andrew and his team of two men were friendly and efficient. They arrived right on time and were fast, but careful of my items. My new place has old, narrow stairwells, and they tried every possible option to get items moved up into my third floor unit. They moved us across Boston during 4th of July Weekend, it was extremely busy and they were even getting a hard time from the police because all of the road were closed down where I asked them to unload my stuff. Based on the positive experience I had with Pleasant Moving last year, I used them again for my move this September. Once again, I had a great experience. They figured out how to disassemble my table (which, according to the guy I bought it from, NEVER comes apart). They wrapped my heavy, large mirror, several pieces of framed art, 42" TV, and didn't break or scratch anything in the process. They even asked me where to position the large pieces of furniture, so I didn't have to rearrange things myself. The total to move our 1 bedroom apartment was just over $400 (3rd floor walkup, 2.5 hours, distance was 1/2 mile). I don't know where all the negative reviews come from. I had a good experience hiring these guys through Hire-A-Helper. They unloaded my POD into my first floor apartment and were careful with my belongings throughout the process. They had to navigate a treacherous basement to unload about 1/3 of my belongings and did so without complaint or issue. Would definitely recommend for basic day moves. read more

I was nervous at first because I hired them through Hire-A-Helper, and I called several times over a few days & got no response, but they did an excellent job! I had to reschedule my move because the city was doing work on my street & they were flexible about that. It took an hour less than the estimated time, and they had to hoist my couch up onto a second floor porch because of narrow stairways in the new apartment. $65 extra cost - for rolls of tape & the hoist. My wife found an extremely large and heavy 14' window bench on Craigslist and the owner said that I had to pick it up that day or somebody else was going to take it. I scrambled to find some movers and a truck and ran across Pleasant Moving. I called them up at 10:00am and explained that I needed a team at 1pm that same day to move this abnormally heavy built-in window bench from Needham MA to Burlington MA. They said YES and quoted me a reasonable price and meet me in Needham in just a few hours from when I initially talked to them. The bench was a bear to move and their 2 movers plus myself managed to do it. The team from Pleasant Moving had a can do attitude and weren't going to fail. Can't get a better recommendation than word of mouth from someone you don't know, right? They were awesome. Yes, they ran late, much like an afternoon doctor's appointment. Then, of course, there's the traffic that time of day. Big city; deal with it. What did they do? EXACTLY what they said they would do, in less time than anticipated, for the money they said I would owe. Nothing damaged. Nothing lost. Nothing but great. Friendly, but they didn't spend much time chatting. Professional. They even let me follow them to my new place so I didn't get lost. I always get lost (my GPS is broken), so this was awesome. I had everything packed and gathered, but if you want them to do the packing for you, they do that too. I don't plan on ever leaving my new apartment, but life happens, and this is the company I'll call to make it happen if I have to move again. read more

recently i used their service for local move. i hired 3 men with one 24 truck. hourly rate is 120 per hour. at end of service, they charge me 10% gratitude cost per each person which totals up to 30% of whole cost. i ended up paying around $850 for less than 5 hours of work. word of advise, ask if they will impose mandatory tips on top your move. if so, ask for another moving company instead. other than the cost, their service is efficient/productive and enthusiastic. unfortunately, in the era of economic depression, cost is everything!!. i am regretful to use the service. i was cheated. read more

I used Andrew and his team yesterday to move the contents of my shed, lawn furniture and a bunch of boxes and belongings in my basement to my new home in Newton. They arrived on time and were very friendly and hard working. We had another stop to make on the way to pick up several other pieces of furniture before unloading at the final destination in Newton and Andrew was flexible and had a real no problem attitude. The guys worked hard, got everything unloaded and away where it needed to be and they completed the whole job in 4 hours including travel time. Their price was very reasonable and they were available on short notice for the day I wanted them which just happened to be father's day. I'm very grateful, recommend them highly and will use them again when the need arises. They were originally referred to me by a good friend who had used them.
