yesterday was my daughters first time having to get major work done (cavities). It would be her first time having a shot like that. She is 16 years old and has more than a few cavities. Not only did they not comfort her and walk her through the process, they also kept telling her what she was feeling (which was sensitivity and pain) was actually just pressure and just continued working on her while she cried. I understand that some people are more sensitive than others, but this is the exact reason people have a phobia of dentist. no one asked things about her, tried to have any kind of relationship with her to make her comfortable or even walk her through giving her multiple shots ( which everyone agrees hurts especially if someone just jabs it in there without any warning). They just seated her in the chair, proceeded to work on her, got annoyed when she said she was still feeling pain and then didn't even come out to the waiting area or walk her out she just walked out of the room crying and came into the waiting area to meet me. NO ONE NO DENTIST CAME OUT TO TALK OR UPDATE ME OR ANYTHING. She is a minor for crying out loud. I don't know if this is because we are new patients and you didn't feel the need to swoon us be kind but we are never coming back to your establishment, and I will share my experience with everyone I meet. Been coming here for years for basic preventative teeth cleaning. Had them whitened once with good results that lasted months. Just recently chipped my tooth, left a message over the weekend and got a call back next day. Following day scheduled to fix. Took 40 mins with the results being awesome looking! AVOID! MONEY HUNGRY, PURPOSELY CAUSING MAJOR ISSUES DOWN THE ROAD. Dr. Sowjanya did a horrible job on my recent fillings. They are extremely sloppy, jagged, doesn't feel natural, and I can no longer floss without completely cutting my floss apart. In addition, I am still experiencing MAJOR PAIN. The whole reason why I made the appointment in the first place. I asked why she didn't fill my tooth that was in pain, she explained there is no cavity and it is just exposed, something they don't take care of, they leave it exposed and in pain until you need a root canal. I don't understand why she would deliberately leave me with pain. This pain is completely new as of a few months ago, clearly there is a problem, something I explained while making my appointment. I am extremely disappointed, especially because my first experience at this location with Dr. Zoreh was amazing, you can't even tell I got fillings, and my pain went away right away. I want to go back to Dr. Zoreh to get the issue fixed, but now I live more than an hour away. Plus I am scared of how poorly the quality of my experience was compared to my experience pre-covid. One thing that makes Dr. Srikantam so great is that, unlike most other dentists I have been to, she definitely is more into patient care than the business side of things. Obviously, she wants to make a living, but she never tries to push services or products on you, or do anything that's not strictly in your interest. You can totally trust her. She just wants to fix your teeth and she is 100% dedicated to that. I have been going to Dr. Srikantam for years. She is the first dentist I have been to that wasn't skipping from room to room in her office trying to juggle multiple patients. She doesn't waste your time and when you are there she has your full attention. Also, there have been at least a couple times I have gone in there to check on some pain or a minor problem, where I haven't been charged at all. The time I first met her was when she was working in a large group practice in San Ramon. I had come in because my upper right canine felt suspiciously sore. I was in for a nasty surprise because the x-ray showed massive decay, below the gumline where you could not see it. It was almost unsalvageable because of how much good tooth was decayed below the gums. I was facing getting the tooth pulled. But Dr. Srikantam refused to give up on my tooth. She spent at least two and a half hours, without any break, root canaling, building up and making the tooth ready for the crown. It was obvious to me that this is a dentist who cares deeply about doing an excellent job for her patients. Later, when I found out she had left that place in San Ramon, I made sure to track her down at her new practice. I have seen a lot of dentists and she is definitely a keeper. I do not think there is a person in this world who actually likes getting dental work done but if you are looking for a great place in the tri-valley look no further. The facility has plenty of parking and the actual suite was easy to find. The reception area is clean and bright with a nice atmosphere. I was greeted politely and quickly for all of my visits so far (3). Every member of the staff is very friendly and upbeat and a joy to deal with. Dr. Srikantam is very good at what she does in all aspects, she is friendly, efficient and is very confident in her work. She'll put you at ease. I accidentally happened upon this office when i met the receptionist in the hallway. Lynn was so enthusiastic about her job that she convinced me to go their for my next cleaning. I wasn't disappointed. The equipment was all extremely clean and state-of-the-art. I was given much time and attention. Things were thoroughly explained to me also. Dr. Srikantam has an obvious passion for her career. My billing was also addressed step-by-step. I used to get very nervous at the dentist - and then, the Novocaine would make it even worse. Turns out there's a Novocaine without epinephrine...why couldn't other dentists figure that out? I cannot recommend this practice enough or thank Dr. Srikantam for her incredible service! I had chronic pain for the last 1.5 years in the upper left side of my teeth. My regular dentist thought it was TMJ and kept only readjusting my nightguard when I continually told her that it might be more, it was so frustrating. The pain/pressure got so bad that she referred me to UCSF bc I couldnt concentrate at work and was always exhausted. Fortunately, before contacting UCSF, my fiance found Pleasanton Smile Dental and I made a consultation appt on a whim. Dr. S was incredibly warm and really seemed interested in finding out exactly what was going on instead of just expecting it to be TMJ. She referred me to an endodontist (root canal specialist) right away and after seeing him I found out I had badly infected filings and had 2 root canals in a week! I am feeling like a new person as the pressure is finally subsiding after so long. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Srikantam for our dental needs for a few years now. When it was time to take our toddler for his first dental visit, there was no question where I was going to take him. Dr. S. was extremely patient with my son, giving him plenty of time to get comfortable. She made it fun by having him pretend he's brushing Mickey Mouse's teeth - with a giant toothbrush. And of course, he could watch Mickey on the TV in front of him while she checked his teeth. Amazing experience, my son didn't flinch and was happy as can be. Of course, he had to get home and use only his new toothbrush that he got from Dr. S. I would highly recommend her for adults and kids alike. It was an accidental listing on my health insurance that prompted my first visit to Dr. Srikantam, but when I heard she moved into her own practice, I followed her immediately. I have had fairly routine dental care in my 70 years, but this past year I had to entertain an implant after a bout with infection. I thought twice about writing this because there are so many positive reviews about this place. So, I'll tell you about my experience and you can take it for what it's worth. I walked into a very clean office and nice a reception area, started off great. I was asked to fill out an Express Check-in which was all done on a computer, again another plus. After I was done, I was taken immediately to the room. Nice, updated and seemed to be state-of-the-art equipment. The hygienist told me she would be doing my x-rays and then the doctor would be in to see me. She did my x-rays then I waited for about 10 mins., no biggie. The doctor came in and sat on a stool in front of me. She introduced herself and asked me if I had any problems that she needed to know about, I told her no, just needed my routine cleaning. She looked at my x-rays and then got to work, measuring my gum lines and calling out numbers to the hygienist, all normal so far. After that she said my gum line numbers were all fine. Now this is where it started to turn for me. She showed me my x-rays and told me everything was fine, no decay. Then she took out a tiny camera and started taking pictures of the tops of several of my molars that had silver fillings. She showed these pictures to me on a screen in front of me and pointed at the screen and said that these fillings will more than likely lose their integrity because of the size and lifespan of silver fillings and that I probably needed to go ahead and have them replaced with a composite resin filling. She said she couldn't see for certain what decay could be occurring directly underneath the filling but she could if she removed it and replaced it with the new. I said right away that my dentist I've been going to for the past 6 years have said that if they aren't bothering me and the x-rays don't show decay then to leave them and that I wanted to continue to follow this plan because as she stated, my bitewing x-rays show no decay. I had been to another dentist in CA 6 years ago who was slowly having me replace all of my silver and had done so on the left side of my mouth ($2,000 out of pocket later) and now I had the same feeling that I did back then. She said that yes, the x-rays show no decay but it would be against her advice to not have them replaced. It just rubbed me the wrong way, the way she said it, no tact, no sensitivity, all sales, AKA we want your money. So that was decided, I wasn't having them replaced. She then told me she was going to use the high-pressure water cleaning on my teeth which is a sharp scraping tool and warm high-pressure water. She told me to raise my hand if there was any sensitivity. She was going along, it was all fine but then she started getting rough so I noticeably flinched a few times and she said "oh is that sensitive?" I said "no, you just poked my gum with that sharp object." "oh, sorry" she says but she continued to do it, too rough! After that torture was over, she said the hygienist was going to floss me and polish my teeth. She started with the floss, her question "do you floss every day?" me, "yes, every day" then she says "you have tight teeth, hard to get the floss in there," I have never had an issue. Then she broke out the polish, I have never had my teeth polished where I felt like my face took a bath in the polish and that I was going to have to wash my face when I got home. It was terrible. She also held the suction tube off the side of my mouth like I was a hooked fish and it kept getting suctioned onto my cheek. I kept holding it up and she asked why and I told her because it's not even doing it's job it's just stuck to my cheek. I don't know if she was new or what but it was not fun. I usually enjoy my trip to the dentist but this trip was off-putting. On the way out, I asked the reception if she would be the dentist that would be cleaning my 3 year old son's teeth and she responded yes, I cancelled my appointment. I couldn't imagine her bedside manner with a child as she gave me no warm feeling at any point of my visit there, not even a cracked smile or reassurance about anything that I was doing right with my teeth. In the past I have had glowing reviews from my dentist which I don't expect from everyone but she could have at least said your teeth look great, see you next time! nope, there won't be a next time. thanks! read more
