The restaurant is a MAJOR let down though. The portions are not even kids menu worthy but the pricetag is huge! Kids left hungry, I was more angry. At $80 per child for the most basic package on a weekend I expected a higher level of service. Throughout the party, I had to ask for everything. I had to request water pitchers, ask for a candle and lighter, and no one offered to help cut the cake. The staff didn't offer much help coordinating the event. I've had parties at Pump It Up, where the staff was much more attentive and proactive. I also had an unpleasant interaction with an employee (Scott?). The employee's old white car was parked in front of the facility, with its windows completely down and a cracked windshield, and its alarm went off. The employee came outside, WALKED ON THE HOOD OF HIS CAR to turn off the alarm, and then accused me of hitting his car. My husband and the five children in my car all confirmed that I didn't. After confronting me in the parking lot, he walked back into K1 while I followed behind. I found it very inappropriate for an employee to yell at a customer, especially as they were entering the business. The kids enjoyed themselves, but the overall customer service was not up to my expectations. When I book a party I like to be stress free, otherwise I would just host a party at my own house.

Even during COVID, when they couldn't hold the regular fair, they put on a special fall version instead. Getting to go to the fair in a Halloween costume was honestly such an awesome experience. I hope they do something like that again someday. I definitely have my traditions. Funnel cake is a must (always with strawberries ). Non-negotiables include the Sky Ride, the petting zoo, and the Model Railroad exhibit (ask about their scavenger hunt!). Before I leave, I have to stop at one of the old-fashioned photo booths too. I write the year on the back of every photo strip, so I've ended up with this little collection that's basically a timeline of my life at the fair. One of my favorite things is that it really feels like the community coming together, and the whole place has such a festive vibe. My dad has won a couple of blue ribbons over the years, I have friends who enter competitions, and I genuinely love walking through the exhibits to see what people have grown, baked, photographed, painted, and created. I always end up spending way more time (and money! ) than I planned, so now I just budget for it every year. The concerts have been incredible too. I've seen Bowling for Soup, Smash Mouth, the Village People, Flo Rida, and plenty of others over the years. Between the concerts, the demolition derby, the drone shows, the animals, the rides, and all the new entertainment they bring in every year, I usually end up going more than once before the fair is over. Speaking of food, the best (and most ridiculous) fair food appears every year. This year it was Spam fries. Did I try them? No. Did I absolutely stop to take a picture? Of course I did. Also, one year I somehow came home from the fair with a mattress. We weren't planning on buying one, but I guess that's just another Alameda County Fair memory. After almost 30 years, I still get excited every time I walk through those gates. I have to leave with my traditional photo strip, my feet tired and dusty, and already looking forward to next year.

Before my granddaughter went back to Bellevue, we bought tickets online and went to this fair. It was quite a fun experience! We arrived early, and parking was a breeze, well organized . We headed to one most wanted attraction, the Alaska pig racing!! The benches were full, but some very kind people squeezed in to make room for us. It was quite a show, and the host made the crowd participate too!! Then the petting zoo, the games, the food, the snacks.... Expensive, but it was fun. Then the heat got to us and we went home. It would be so awesome if the weather was cooler so we can enjoy everything!!! Guess we need to come back next year.

An absolute dream for all of you winos out there. I came across this event on the Alameda County Fair website. I had planned to attend the fair, but couldn't figure out which date that I wanted to go. But once I saw this event, I knew that I just had to go and check it out because it just sounded too good to be true! I paid $45 for the event which included admission into the fair. Parking was not included, and I prepaid for parking online which costed $10. This event was actually held on the field right in the middle of the horse races! I was given a wrist band that included in and out privileges, but I ended up staying there the whole time since I got there about an hour and a half after it started. The event was held between 2 and 5 pm, but I rolled in "fashionably late" (ahem!) at 3:30pm. I actually feel like this was a great time to go because the lines weren't excessively long, and I might have passed out from all of the wine if I would have kept drinking. There were over 40 different wineries pouring their most popular and award winning wines! There were many local wineries as well as a few that I had recently visited while wine tasting in Mendocino county! Way too many to name, but there was so much variety! The pourers were mostly volunteers, so many of them didn't know too much about the wineries and the background of the wines. However, this event wasn't meant to be intimate as there were so many different wineries that were showcasing their wines. There were many shaded tables and chairs around where people could sit. They also had a big wager tent where people could sip while betting on the horse races! I did not participate in the betting this time around, but I would like to do it next year for sure. I must have tried over 50 different wines that day! A word of advice to anyone who is thinking about coming out: drink lots of water and pace yourself! I believe that they had a water stand available in the wagering tent, but I just brought my own. Unfortunately, I didn't follow my own advice and didn't pace myself. I'll let you figure out how the night ended... In any event, the Sip, Savor, & Wager was really fun! I met lots of people, mingled around, and tried many different wines that I had never tried before. There were also a few food trucks around for those who didn't get a chance to eat. This was the first time that this event was held in conjunction with the Alameda County Fair and I think it was an excellent turn out! Being able to get a closeup view of the horse races was icing on the cake. I definitely plan to attend the event next year if they decide to have it again!

Biggest problem is they don't serve the wines (especially reds) at appropriate temperatures. Reds shouldn't be served at room temp when its 93 degrees out! Otherwise it's a decent time.

I thought this race was really fun! The lake was clean and pretty warm actually, while still being wetsuit legal and not too hot. The 1.5k swim course takes you around almost the entire lake, which made me feel like a real champ. The 40k bike course was really enjoyable. I'm from the east coast and am used to really flat bike courses so when I moved to SF this was a bit of a challenge. This one had a nice climb from mile 10 - 12 but otherwise was pretty simple. For someone like me this was just enough of a challenge to feel like I really did something without so many hills that I felt miserable. (Like I said, serious athletes may not have found this challenging enough, but I enjoyed it.) The 10k run was mostly on a trail which was great since I have knee problems. It's a 5k loop so you do it twice, which isn't super exciting, but I kind of liked knowing what to expect the second time around. Last year I raced the Folsom Long Course Triathlon which is also put on by USA Productions and had quite a few complaints about the level of support. But this race seemed well supported, so they really redeemed themselves in my eyes. Plus, it's pretty close to SF which is nice when traveling for a race. Into it!

This was our first trip to G&M Farms in Livermore and it was incredibly special and actually quite the fun surprise off the freeway. As we were about to pass Livermore, we saw signage and oodles of fun happening for G&M Farms so we pulled off. There is so much to do here! You can grab a red Radio Flyer wagon and truly go hunting for the perfect pumpkin within the patch itself, or if you're on the hunt for more smaller pumpkins/gourds there is a whole gift shop/farm store that is so incredibly cute for basically every pumpkin vibe you can imagine. Plenty of spots to stop and take pictures with friends or family. There's a corn maze, drinks/snacks like mini donuts, popcorn, and corn dogs, and speaking of corn..oh-em-gee! Truly wanted to share a review for this reason alone. Looking for a sensory activity for your little? There is not a sandbox, but a giant CORN box for play. The adults also tried it (essentially we just put our feet in and it felt surprisingly really nice. Something unexpected and truly unique, fun, and interactive. We also noticed a few other activities on the pumpkin patch side like a tractor/train ride and I'm not sure if there was a petting zoo? Regardless, worth a trip if you haven't made your pumpkin haul yet. Plenty of room for strollers and very spread out. Can't wait to make the corn box an annual tradition. Looking forward to truly enjoying the patch next year with more time. Thank you G&M Farms for the memories! Still finding little corn kernels ;)

This is going to be a long review so if you want the short version here it is. I drove eight hours round-trip to pick up my bike from these guys even though I had closer dealer options and I would do it all over again. Great prices, better people. Now for the longer version. I did some price shopping within about a 4 to 5 hour loop of my home in Reno. There were two reasons I was willing to make the drive down to Livermore for the purchase of my bike. Not only was the price worth the eight hour round-trip, but when I spoke to the owner, Mike on the phone, his service, knowledge, and friendliness was the icing on the cake. When I arrived, I was greeted at the door by name and was immediately taken to my bike to check out before doing any paperwork. Unfortunately, with my timing, I arrived right as KTM's system went down. Mike and two other techs troubleshooted for just over an hour, but the system would not get the bike out of dealer mode. I'm no stranger to technical problems and completely understand that it was out of their hands, but there was no lack of effort from his side. He didn't just say "oh the systems down come back tomorrow, he took the time to trouble shoot it for over an hour until past closing time. KTM's online support is based in Ohio a couple hours ahead of Livermore so unfortunately they were unable to help that evening. Mike said they would have it unlocked first thing in the morning when they got in contact with tech-support and that he would purchase me a hotel room for the night or I had the option to take the bike home with the dealer lock still on it and he would arrange for my local dealer to unlock it. I opted for the second option. I received a call from Mike the next morning letting me know who to ask for at my local dealer because they were expecting me. Mike was also extremely knowledgeable about the bike and gave me a full rundown of the dashboard and effectively answered all of the questions that I had because I was not used to a bike with that much technology on it.
