This is a family favorite. We eat here very consistently. We normally get appetizers and three entrees to split between the four of us and have plenty for leftovers. For appetizers, we usually have the fresh soft spring rolls. I am not always a fan of spring rolls, but these are delicious. The outside isn't tough and the veggies are fresh. Plus, I am a fan of that sweet peanut sauce. My sister's favorite is the pad see ewe with chicken with no spiciness. It is sweet and delicious. My parents have the pad kee mao with chicken, medium spicy. I get the same thing with tofu. The interesting thing about this place is that it's different each time. Sometimes there are a lot of tomatoes in the dish, sometimes there aren't any but there are more mushrooms. I think it's a good sign because it means they aren't just pulling it out of a freezer or something. Sometimes even the medium spicy makes my dad's head sweat. The waiters are always there though to pour more water. We have never tried to get very spicy, but I imagine that most people who like spicy food would be pretty content. The steamed rice is in the shape of a heart and helps cool you down if the food gets too spicy. I have also tried the yellow curry which is also delicious. I haven't been to the lunch buffet in years, but the last time I went the set up was weird and it seemed a little over priced. I really like this place. The staff are very sweet, prices good for the portion size, and the food consistent each time I go there. Their iced Thai coffee is delicious. Green curry with chicken was good. Eggplant was more raw than I prefer, but the curry tasted spicy enough with a medium spice level. Lunch special come with the appetizer buffet, but the menu notes there are no take home boxes. Appetizer buffet was not good. Sushi tasted like target style with the milky rice taste. The egg rolls were seasoned a little different because of the cabbage. Everything was room temperature if it was out for more than a few minutes. The tom yum soup was good because of the bits of chicken at the bottom. The salad bar was disappointing and room temperature. A better deal if you buy it to go then you can extend the curry more. Worst Thai food I've ever had in my life. My husband and I ordered the Pad See Ewe, and both noodle dishes were practically mush. It was like eating hot and salty raw cookie dough. We also ordered spring rolls and cheese rolls. The spring rolls were okay, but the cheese rolls were very dry and tasteless. I walked in and ordered cashew chicken to go. At around 2:15pm on a Tuesday. I was handed a box to put appetizers in while I waited for my entree. While this was a good idea, the appetizers looked like they had been sitting there for awhile. Terrible! Signs were posted everywhere that you cannot take the appetizer buffet food to go (which comes with your meal but I could care less about). I get it but we ordered 2 entrees and 2 kids meals. We were told we had access to the appetizer bar with that. Fine. Appetizer bar was pretty bad...everything had been sitting there for hours. Our meals come and my pad Thai was red, like it was saturated in chili/red type of sauce. I haven't had "red saucy" pad Thai before. Our kids enjoyed their meals but didn't finish and when we asked for a to go box, we were told we could take the kids meals home but not my pad Thai. What!?!? I completely understand not allowing the appetizer bar items to go but my main entree I purchased??? Really?!?! That was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. We will NOT be going back. I tried this place a few times hoping my experience with the staff would be different. I enjoy their food but will no longer be eating there due to the management and waitstaffs perfume. It is so strong it's nauseating and gives me a headache. They don't seem to care it's offensive either. I don't know if that's a Thai cultural thing, but I prefer to smell and TASTE the food, not the staffs overwhelming perfume/Cologne. As someone who has actually traveled to Thailand and once dated a girl born And raised in Thailand until age 19. I can say that the food here is pretty well authentic. No it does not have exotic dishes or street food specialities and perhaps seasoning is skewed down to American tastes but for the outer suburbs you are not to find anything better anywhere in the USA suburbs! Best dishes are the five different curries; yellow, red, green, Penang and massamun. All Thai (not just USA) authentic. For lunch go with curry of the day or pad prick king red curry dish. Thai soups Tom Kha Gai, Tom Yum Goong and Poh Taek also very Thai authentic. Agreed that lunch buffet steam pot could and should be higher temperature. Note dinner temperature fine. Also be aware that if you arrive much after 1:00 pm soup may be gone or drained of meat and veg. Salads Laarb, yum Nur Num Tom and Lemongrass Seafood also authentic. Not available for lunch. A real shame!!! Wish they would add. Basil fried rice and pineapple fried rice best two rice dishes. I am NOT a fan of ANY of the noodle dishes. Have to agree with other reviewers that Pad Thai is a big disappointment. Thai food features noodle dishes and the fact that this restaurant does them so poorly is puzzling. As far as entrees go stick with either garlic chicken or garlic shrimp. Whole fish triple flavor can be good if fish fresh (dinner only). Lunches are best price value and always packed. We've never ordered anything we didn't like. Children under 3 are free if you don't order from the children's menu and the owner is a super sweet lady with a friendly, caring staff. Ploy is the best Thai restaurant in the Houston/Woodlands area. After visiting Thailand and eating authentic Thai food, this place comes in pretty close. I My girlfriends and I love to go here for lunch. They are quite picky eater and absolutely love it!! The food is always so fresh and tasty, service is great. The only con about this place is that you can't even take your drink away with you at lunch. Let me start off by saying that the food is good, everything else sucks. I went there with 4 friends and we got there an hour before closing so we thought hey plenty of time to eat. Needless to say it took a while to get our food and there were only two other customers there, imagine if it was full. When we went to pay they had charged us extra for my friends daughter which didn't order a meal but just sat there and played the whole time. I guess they have a policy that if there are 5 or more they charge you more. This is one of our favorite restaurants. We moved away and definitely miss it. You get the salad/sushi bar with your entree but be aware that you can not get any of your food to go, this includes your entree. I assume this is to stop people from ordering, filling up on the sushi bar and taking their entire entree to go. I saw a woman scream at the staff and then storm out over this once even though i think it is clearly posted. The salad bar has ..salad, a spicy thai slaw, spring rolls, soup, dessert, and a variety of sushi rolls. We usually get chicken pad thai and pork pad see ewe. If you have never had thai, those are both pretty safe bets. I want to be more adventurous and try new things but I really like those so tend to order the same thing every time.
