Singapore noodles that smell like feet
    Philip P.

This place needs to change their name from "hot wok" to "hot sock" because their Singaporean noodle dish smells like feet, seriously. I ordered the "crispy spicy chicken" and ended up receiving mildish chicken pieces drenched in marinade (probably containing 10,000 milligrams of sodium). The general Tso's chicken had a rubbery texture to it. I did some research on rubbery chickens served from Chinese restaurants and read that one of the leading causes is overcooking the meat. The next cause of rubbery chicken is a lack of moisture. It makes you wonder what the hell is going on back in their kitchen...

I had the hot and spicy shrimp lunch. Hot and sour soup was different but I really liked it. Was kinda small though. Food was good and for $9 with tax not too bad!!

Ordered pepper steak what's missing? Portion was generous though. Got the meal which included soup, egg roll, and crab Rangoon.

Yelp reviews brought me here... I called and placed an order for pickup and was told it'd take 10 mins. Upon arrival I was greeted by a young lady at the register who was very nice and welcoming. The restaurant appeared to be clean and well lit. I ordered orange chicken with steamed rice. Once I returned home it was still hot and fresh. What I liked most about the chicken was that it didn't have a lot of breading. The flavor was really good and it had a little spice as well. Overall Great! Will return!

    Chicken Lo Mein

I'm new to the area so I haven't tried many of the local Chinese restaurants, but this is that kind of Chinese food that you order when you want to get it fast, take it home and plop down on the couch to watch a movie. I ordered pick up from Hot Wok because the weather has gotten colder and I wanted some chicken soup. I ordered a large wonton soup and a chicken lo mein. The large wonton soup is a steal at $4.50 because it's one of those large to-go containers and they gave me tons of wontons - probably 10-12? Maybe more? I didn't count them, but I was appreciative that they didn't give me a container of broth with 3-4 wontons. They also gave me two little bags of the crispy wonton chips. The chicken Lo Mein was tasty as well. It was pretty average as far as the lo meins I've had around Houston, which is honestly what I was looking for. Every once in a while I get a craving for an Asian noodle dish and this satisfied that craving today. The woman at the front was friendly and she had my order ready and waiting by the time I got to the restaurant. It appears that they might be doing only pick-up and delivery because when you walk in, the dining area is blocked off to customers.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant to order from. They are reasonably priced and you can get some great authentic Lo Mien as well as Egg Drop Soup (those are the things I order the most) and highly recommend trying the sweet and sour sauce. Although the menu has much more to choose from! The staff are very kind and loving and serve you very fast! I've been coming here over a year now and when I order carry out they bring it to my car for convenience sake. I didn't request it, but it goes to show that they care about their customers and it shows to great lengths. Thank you Hot Wok!

Guess who just lost a customer? Thanks for ruining the fresh paint on our door. Wish I could have caught a glimpse at the person doing this before they did.

I'm so happy to discover this place, I received their menu-sheet in the mail box and decided to go give it a try. I ordered some spicy fish with rice I loved it. I started with their seafood soup omg it was amazing! I will definitely come back. For the convenience it's 1 Minute walking distance from my apartment.

Clay pot is the way to go. I also like the sesame oil flavor found in the egg drop soup. Clay pot dishes are yummy and their take on it came with more meat than veggies. So if you like more meat, then that's the way to go.

There's a separate menu page dedicated to their new broth selections including Tom Yum, Golden Chicken, Spicy Miso and so much more. They've also introduced new hot items such as Soup Dumplings, Hargau, Siu Mai, and Tempura. These small bites were perfect palate changer between rounds of hot pot. The cuts of meat for hot pot were incredibly tender and the wagyu offered was beautifully marbled. Although each slice was generously cut, they were easy to split and share with the table. One of the highlights was the self-served shaved ice machine, a refreshing and sweet treat to perfectly end the meal. Prime Beef Shabu is currently one of my favorite places to get Hot Pot. The restaurant is clean , efficient, and ideal for enjoying a family styled dinner with loved ones.

I thought it was pretty good and not too spicy for me but the wife was choking with the spiciness. We normally get 3 rounds of meat at kpot but we only went through 1 round here because the serving portions are larger. I was asked about or inquire about the "member price" shown on the menu. I genuinely wanted to give this place five stars, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing overall. When we first arrived, there was nobody at the front to greet or seat us, and we waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Service started off decent enough, but once our food arrived, it felt like we were completely forgotten. Nobody checked on our table afterward, we never received water refills, and our server was essentially unavailable for the rest of the meal. We were also seated next to an extremely loud party that was yelling throughout dinner. We wanted to request another table because it was disrupting the experience, but our server never returned to our section, so we never had the opportunity to ask. For a restaurant that presents itself as high caliber, I was surprised that management allowed such a disruptive atmosphere to continue. As for the food, the BBQ Pork Buns and Siu Mai were both very good. The award-winning Beef Rendang was easily the highlight of the meal and the best dish we ordered. Unfortunately, the Mee Goreng and Malaysian Fried Rice were major disappointments. Both dishes had an unpleasant smell and lacked flavor or seasoning, making them very unappetizing. Another issue was finding a bug on our table during dinner. I understand things can happen, but combined with everything else, it added to an already frustrating experience. We even wanted additional napkins, but again, our server never came back to check on us. Eventually, we became so frustrated waiting for service that we got up and paid the bill ourselves. Ironically, that was the moment our server finally reappeared. To make matters worse, gratuity appeared to already be added to the bill, which honestly did not feel deserved given the level of service we received. Overall, the BBQ Pork Buns and Beef Rendang were the only parts of the experience that saved the meal for us. It's disappointing because the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has a great ambiance, which made us even more excited to try it. Unfortunately, the poor service and inconsistent food quality overshadowed what could have been a much better dining experience.

In a place like Houston, where you can get authentic Vietnamese food, this can be a luck draw if the fusion pays off. However, when I tried the food, it was a very flavorful and worth every cent I spent. Everything was very tasty. The wings were flavorful and crisp. It had a combination of crispy skin seasoned with a rich sauce. The meat was also moist. For a party of two, it was also very shareable because they gave six pieces -both drums and wings. I will say that you really gotta to get in there get your hands and face dirty though! (They did provide a hand wipe!) For the main dishes, the won tonic soup was very flavorful with sweet-and-sour elements with egg noodles that soaked up all this good flavor. The wontons inside were very standard. And the onion was added to provide some balance. Everything was very hardy and filling. My friend had gotten the vermicelli. Which came with crunchy egg rolls, shredded veggies, noodles, and shrimp topped with a fish sauce. It felt very light and refreshing with a balance of textures and savory elements'. Highly recommend as the number one and two selling dishes - it would just depend on if you're in a soup or dry noodle sort of mood. Service was overall fast and friendly. You have to pay by going to the counter. We had a newer waiter though, and it took him a long time to get our orders correctly and he had to get some help. Hopefully they're doing well, but overall, it's a very cute Homie little establishment. Seating fits around 30 around booths and tables.

I am glad I do not have to drive to Bellaire or Katy for authentic Chinese noodles. On top of that,…read morethe noodles are definitely Northern Chinese style, which consists of rich earthy broths accompanied by hand-pulled noodles and your choice of meats. Dumplings are also a must when eating this style of food. The establishment is very new as they just had their grand opening. There is a very athletic man behind a glass window in the kitchen that will be rolling the dough and forming the noodles with your very eyes. Oddly enough, this makes the noodles taste better. Again, the noodles are freshly made to order and you can see them making it too. You can tell by the mismatched size noodles in your order. The dumplings will have a thicker skin than you might be familiar with. That is because Northern-style dumplings are formed with much thicker doughs. Rest assured, this will have no impact on the rich flavors of the stuffing! The table will also have their homemade chili oil. It is not that spicy but it will greatly enhance every dish you order if you dare. Overall a positive experience here for the price. You also save a bunch of gas money not driving to Bellaire ha ah ha ha.
