*** My review is about ALTERATIONS not cleaning *** I brought a dress in to have taken in a little and the length shortened. BIG MISTAKE! I had never been to this cleaner before but I read the reviews of how great they were and sadly trusted to try them. I got my dress back and there were tears in the fabric from where they maybe tried to stitch something & then took it out. The spots taken in were taken in too much so now I practically have to hold my breath while wearing it (& she pinned it while I was wearing it! Should have fit perfect!!) The bottom hem was sloppy and not taken up enough, completely uneven. I have to pin it up to make it work because I dont have time to bring it anywhere to get it properly fixed. So what did I pay $85 for when I could have armaturely done it myself?! Majorly disappointed. Never going back!!! read more

Then the horrible experience started All my laundry not done when they said it would be and I had to make two trips to retrieve the remaining unfinished item My button up starch shirt came back looking like it was barely ironed. Quietly restoring our faith in dry cleaners.....one customer at a time. I turned to Yelp after a horrendous dry cleaning/alterations experience down the street, and thank the good lord I did! I chose to bring my clothes to Plum Grove Cleaners after seeing the great feedback they had received on this page. I decided to take a chance with them, and give them a shot. A big shot at that. I brought in 9 pairs of slacks that needed to be hemmed and dry cleaned. 2 Pairs of jeans (Rock & Republic and Seven) to be hemmed, and not dry cleaned. 4 dress shirts to dry clean with starch, and 1 dress shirt to dry clean with no starch. I also requested that my name not be written on my clothing. So this was quite the leap of faith I was taking with a new dry cleaner. Thankfully, I was handsomely rewarded! The owner was perfectly attentive, and carefully wrote down my requests, and I should mention that he didn't make me feel silly for simply having a few extra requests. The lady who performed my fitting and alterations was very nice, both accepting my input, as well as offering her advice when I asked for her expertise. After all, I am a boy, so I don't know what looks good and what doesn't. I rely on women for that. I went to pick up my items at 7am this morning, one day after the agreed upon date of completion. It should be noted, that my clothing was ready yesterday, but I could not make it to their location before closing time. Much to my excitement, all of my requests were met, and my expectations were exceeded. ALL of the alterations look great, much better than I expected. You cannot tell that they have been altered. I was especially happy with the 2 pairs of jeans. I've seen a lot of my friends jeans that have been hemmed, and a lot of times the jeans end up looking like slacks at the bottom. I know it's very hard to create a factory stitch when you're hemming jeans, but this was as good as it gets. All 9 pairs of my slacks were hemmed and dry cleaned to perfection. I couldn't be happier with the job they did on all of the pants I brought in. All of my dress shirts came out great. They starched the ones they were supposed to, and didn't starch the one I asked them not to. They also did not write my name on any of my clothes, just as I had asked, which made me very pleased. This is the type of place that just gives you a good feeling when you come there, even before becoming a customer. Call it a good "aura". I have a feeling that if any mistakes were ever made, they would own up, stand up, and stand behind their service. The best part is, I don't even see that happening. They don't make you feel like you're unimportant to them, as some other places will do. We have become a so used to cleaners being unreliable, that we are accustomed to expecting something bad to happen each time we go, and checking each and every garment before leaving. It's almost as if we have such low expectations nowadays, that when something does go wrong, we just accept it as the norm. Well, Plum Grove Cleaners is here to show us that we're wrong to think that. I spent almost 150.00 dollars there today, and I feel like I got an amazing deal. Bottom line: I brought in a lot of clothes, needing a multitude of services completed, with a couple special requests involved, and Plum Grove Cleaners passed with flying colors! Patronize this establishment with extreme confidence! Note: After trying on my jeans before leaving the store this morning, they put each pair back on the hanger for me, without me even asking. Now that's great customer service, and it just shows how much they care. What more could you ask for from a cleaners? The answer is: Nothing. read more

This place is the best cleaners around. I think it was instilled by my father, but I have a deep seeded paranoia about dry cleaners. I don't trust them to not ruin my clothes. The few times I strayed from Plum Grove, my fears were born true. I have lived downtown for three years now and STILL hike out to PG cleaners with everything important to me. I have taken items stained, in need of repairs and even messed up by other cleaners. They've done a great job every time. Once they knocked the seam hook off of a skirt. When I picked up my cleaning it had already been replaced and a note attached explaining what happened. read more

Have used them in the past for hemming pants and had a decent experience. Not so much this time around, I brought in 4 pairs of designer jeans to be hemmed and when I inquired as to a possible discount given the number of pants, the owner replied "these are not that much, trust me" the tone he used was a little off-putting to say the least. When it came time to pick the pants up, I noticed they were far shorter than I had wanted them and on one pair the lengths didn't match up on both legs - one side was shorter than the other. Doubt I'll be coming back here again to get anything tailored. read more

Tom is just the best. I have never been to a cleaners that had an owner who was so involved. It's rare to see someone strive to continually be the best around so when I do I take notice. If I moved 15 miles away, I would still be going to this place on principal alone. I have used these guys for alterations on my best suits. Don't go here! I was promised our dry cleaning ready by Thursday so I come at 845am. The lady tells me, "you come back later" I try to explain that I need the items to go to work. She makes a huge huff, sighs and then goes to look for my items. 35 minutes later she shoves my items at me. I'd rather just avoid the rudeness next time and go elsewhere. Apparently no same day service. Clothes weren't ready when I arrived 20 minutes after the time I was quoted either. No big deal but then I discovered that all of my pants and jeans had creases when I *expressly* requested NO CREASES. $30 later I'll be re-ironing all my pants and I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

This place is fantastic! I forgot to have my daughter's dress cleaned after she wore it and it sat around for 6 months with a greasy mess all down the front. When I pulled the dress out for her to wear again I noticed the stain and panicked because she was the flower girl and the wedding was in 2 days!! The owner was hesitant whether it would come out, but he did it! He had it cleaned beautifully and ready for me to pick up the next day. This cleaners is by far above and beyond any I've been to. They repaired a winter coat perfectly and helped with a gown for me for my daughters wedding. No flaws what so ever. I would highly recommend them. They aren't outrageously over priced either. Very nice people also. read more

Tom is always very nice when things are going HIS way, when he damages a shirt, it's your faul, so per Tom "go some place else". When he quotes a price for work on material for valances at $120 and realizes later HE made a mistake, it's your fault, so pay the $180 for the finished work. When questioned about the fairness regarding paying for HIS mistake, Tom says "take it or leave it". Upon leaving his comment continued, WELL THEN GO SOME PLACE ELSE. AND WE WILL, GOOD BY TOM! I've been using this cleaner for a few months on the recommendation of a family member. They were very friendly and helpful until they discovered that I didn't vote for Mitt Romney. Now they are cold and sharp with me. Whatever. Today, though, I discovered that they have been writing my wife's name and part of her phone number on my shirts with a sharpie. All of my shirts. In my decades of using dry cleaners I have never heard of anyone doing this. I will never use this business again, and I'll be warning my family members to check for sharpie marks on their clothes. read more

LOVE this place. Who knew you could get so excited about a dry cleaner? I have had some bad dry cleaning experiences in the past but have complete faith in this place. The guy who is always up front (who I am assuming is Tom, and the owner, based on other reviews) is so friendly and courteous, plus you can actually understand him when he talks, which can be hard to find in a dry cleaner. I have brought numerous items here, suits, dresses, shirts, and even my wedding dress. My wedding dress had a HUGE stain down the front (someone spilled a black Russian down the front of my dress) and the train was all muddy. Tom called to ask my permission to do what he needed to do to get it clean again because it was so dirty. I was ready to throw in the towel. However, when I went to pick it up I could hardly believe how good it looked, practically brand new. I also had them patch up a dress that I had ripped; the lady was unsure if she would be able to fix it but said she would try. Well she fixed it and I can't even tell where the rip was because she did such a good job. Needless to say this will be my go to dry cleaner for years to come. I called today to have a alteration on my dress and have it cleaned. I was told on the phone they were backed up with alterations. They said they'd see what they could do. When I arrived they put a rush on it for me. I dropped it off at 12 pm and they had it done by 3pm. Thank goodness I needed the dress the next day for my husband's funeral. They didn't know that but they helped me anyway. I'll be back for sure! read more
