What sets him apart from other technichans is that he'll try to see what's wrong and fix it. Vs. recommending you buy a whole new system. Our furnace was broken, and he tried to fix it first by seeing if the issue was with the capacitor. When that didn't work he found out it was the motor. Instead of getting a new motor for our system, which was pretty expensive, he instead suggested we replace the furnace. Only because the cost of a new one was a little bit more than the cost of an motor. Also, the furnace was almost 20 years old. Every time he's come over, he was exactly on time. Getting an appointment with Ribbit Heating/AC was particularly easy, with their dispatcher not only providing lots of opportunities for appointments, but also giving us follow-up calls on the day of, ensuring that we were home in time to meet the service techs. The two techs who arrived were both timely and courteous, swiftly diagnosing the issue with our A/C unit. They provided accurate pricing throughout the process and were done quickly. And right now? Our A/C is blowing cool and comfortable for the rest of the summer. No complaints whatsoever!

She lives by herself and they convinced her it was too old and leaking, so a new one had to be installed. The price quoted was $10,349.00. Her house is only 1,661sqft. She signed an estimate, not a contract. When my brother and I found out we were not happy. My brother was there the morning that the installers came and told them we were getting a second opinion and refused the installation. After the installers left, the office called my mom and told her she now owed them $500 because she signed a CONTRACT, and they brought the unit from their warehouse in Dayton. (She lives in Huber Heights, long drive, I know.) Before we could get a copy of the ESTIMATE she signed, she took a $500 check to them. NO WHERE on the ESTIMATE did it say that there was a "restocking fee". Results of the second opinion: $912 for a new seal, including labor. AND they said the unit will likely last another 5 or 6 years. We will no longer be using Ed's Heating and Cooling for anything. UNTRUSTWORTHY. It would be great if they gave the $500 back, but I know they will not. Lesson Learned, BEWARE.
