The water obstacle course is a riot--falling in front of everyone only adds to the fun . Seriously, such a fun way to hang out, get moving, and enjoy a little playful chaos with the beach vibes in the background. Highly recommend if you're ready to laugh, splash, and maybe take a few epic dives.

We love the pool, obstacle course, and amenities (showers, etc). We arrive at opening and always find parking. Here's why I'm giving 3 stars and may not renew my pass for next year. The fun you have is dependent on who is on staff that day. I don't know what happened between this year and last, but this year is not great. Some lifeguards and people at the desk are so rude. On one hand, I'm sympathetic because I know these jobs can be seasonal and you have to train new people, deal with customers, safety, etc, etc. But they create so much confusion and then they're rude when you follow the rule someone else on staff gave you. Then you tell them another person told you to do that and they act like you pulled this info out of your own butt. Last time I was there, I was going back and forth from the pool to the desk because the lifeguard and desk staff couldn't agree on whether my kids needed wristbands. Like I said, if this is just confusion between newer staff, that's fine, I feel for you. But they were both SO rude about it and were getting annoyed with me ‍ This is just the recent example, but it's now probably half our visits that there's some weird triangulation between me and two staff members telling me different things. There are some people who work here that are awesome and friendly. When they do swim tests, they speak clearly to the kids and give instructions/expectations clearly. They're straightforward and friendly when we check in. I think he might be a manager (he wears the pit vipers and has facial hair), he's super friendly although I don't see him that much any more. Sorry I don't know their names, but always relieved when they're there (and coincidentally they all seem to be on the same page with the rules/expectations ).

Mind you, My son is autistic and we got very lucky to have had the same instructor for almost 6 months. He obviously started off his swim lessons a little nervous and apprehensive but quickly warmed up. Sadly our coach doesn't work here anymore. For the past 3 weeks my son has had a new instructor. Last week we had the pleasure of experiencing coach Denise. She was absolutely amazing, extremely patient. I must've thanked her so many times for being so great with my son. Well today she had not been there and that's okay but coach Frankie stepped in to teach the class and right off the bat was annoyed, not compassionate of the fact that my son isn't used to her and she was so aggressive in her approach to try to get my son to swim. He was screaming, crying and the session basically ended in her discriminating against my son and his special needs. Saying "I'm not going to do this with him, or put up with the screaming, he's obviously upset" I immediately pulled my baby out of the pool and told her how inpatient she was and that it wasn't a good fit for us either. Instead of trying to get my son to warm up to her and be playful and allow him to trust her first since it was the first time he was ever in her class she just threw her hands up and said get him out of my class basically. We both left in tears and I spoke to Ivan the general manager who tried to make things right but I just can't get over the fact that as mothers it is our job to advocate for our children especially the ones who can't speak up for them selves . She has no business being around people let alone children. I sat in the parking lot balling my eyes out for 30 minutes after over how mistreated we were by this woman. These are some of the things coach Frankie said to my son today in swim class. "You're going to leave that wall one way or another" "You grabbing onto me isn't helping yourself" "I appreciate you trying to float on your back but that's not what we're doing right now" I really hope no one else has to go through what my son and I went through today by coach Frankie!

Big Blue runs like a place that actually thought through every pain point parents deal with. I've…read moregot three kids, we've tried three different swim school setups, and this is the first one that feels genuinely organized instead of chaotic. The structure is real. Every class has a clipboard, progress notes, and a clear sense of where your kid is headed next. They move through real developmental tranches, not vibes. The pool itself is huge, warm, and the entire room is heated to tropical levels so kids never shiver through a lesson. It's so warm that I personally refuse to sit poolside, but the kids are thrilled. The locker room situation is elite. Two dozen stalls at minimum, which means no waiting, no crowding, no post lesson meltdown because someone else is taking forever. Instructors aren't just thrown in the water and forgotten. They're watched, coached, and evaluated by a team that clearly cares about consistency. A lot of the negative reviews here come from one time visits where the kid was miserable. And honestly, that's not a Big Blue problem. Learning to swim is scary. You're in the water with a stranger doing something brand new. All three of my kids struggled at the beginning everywhere we went. YMCA, Callan, you name it. Big Blue has been the smoothest of the bunch. Bigger facility, easier parking, better locker room flow, calmer energy. Are all instructors perfect? No. That's true anywhere. But across the whole journey this has been the least stressful experience I've had as a parent in the swim school world. You can't call the front desk directly because everything routes through the central call center, but the app is simple and the staff on site are always friendly and accommodating. If something goes sideways, just show up and talk to them. They fix things without attitude. My kids love swim day. I'm grateful for the warm welcome, the structure, and the easygoing vibe. Thank you Big Blue.

Next day around 10 am, Melissa called, saying she had our booking planned, and she had a lifeguard for our party. She told me that my lifeguard was going to call me, ( he did within 5 minutes), and that she would sent the PayPal link. I payed and confirmed with her over the phone. My lifeguard arrived 15 minutes before the set time, and was ready to go to work. He was very nice to the kids, and didn't even want to grab a bite or a drink, we offered him. I saw him always engaged looking at the kids in the pool. Never saw him looking elsewhere. I am very impressed by the professional service they delivered, and wouldn't think twice to hire them again.

Great outdoor pool welcoming on sunny days & its ALSo heated in case of "May Grey" or "June Gloom" weather. The men's locker room was modern & very clean. They have a large communal shower area just like in my high school. I like the style of the men's communal showers which are surrounded by cool & stylish "mid-century" glass blocks. This gym has everything, yet, it isn't crowded. They even offer locks in case you forget yours. This YMCA is unique in that it is primarily outdoors with a natural vibe. The garden is a nice touch. Positive sunny energy with a large outdoor workout area that is covered in case of rain or intense summer sunshine. I hope this gym never loses its "openness & naturistic" vibe. The only thing that I didn't like were the benches in the men's locker area. I stubbed my toe due to the configuration of the bench legs - a small inconvenience. A rare find!!

From unlearning the bad swim habits I had (thought I knew how to swim from doing sessions with different coaches! LOL) to learning the right ways, she's guided me with a lot of enthusiasm and patience! Observing her back then coaching other adults, everyone can really tell how knowledgeable and confident but humble she is at what she's doing. And now that I am actually learning through her, in every step, it inspires me to do a lot more! You will really see the improvement after every lesson. Kristina is a coach you wouldn't want to let go of! She will accommodate and is very flexible with whatever is comfortable for your learning and speed -- no pressure at all! I started swimming for exercise a few months ago after higher impact activities weren't working for my body anymore, and I quickly noticed I had no idea what I was doing, even though I'd learned how to swim as a kid. I felt like I was flailing around in the pool, couldn't swim for more than 15 minutes without feeling exhausted, and couldn't breathe correctly. Basically I could survive in the pool, but thriving wasn't even a possibility. After only a few lessons with Kristina, I feel more confident, I'm understanding how to breathe without freaking out, and I'm becoming more aware of how my body moves in the water. I've even worked my way up to swimming for about an hour, because I'm learning how to swim more efficiently. Kristina is an excellent teacher, and she makes the lessons enjoyable, approachable, and 100% worthwhile. She takes an individualized approach to teaching and offers useful feedback in a kind, compassionate way. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with Kristina, and I highly recommend her coaching, whether you're just learning to swim or you're already an aquatic badass and want to get even better.
