I went back and asked about it, hoping it had simply fallen off somewhere. I was told it had gone into part of their car wash system and was stuck inside. They said they would check after business hours and told me to call back the next day. I gave them a couple of days and called Monday. At that point, I was told they usually do not check that area until they clean it out Wednesday night, so I should call back Thursday. Thursday morning, I received a message saying they found the tire cover and that it was ready for pickup. I had work, so I could not make it over that day. Then on Friday, someone called and told me they had the tire cover "that you left." That wording bothered me because I did not leave anything behind. Their car wash pulled the cover off my vehicle and into their equipment. When I finally went to pick it up, the cover was still wet, filthy, torn, and mangled. I was already keeping my expectations pretty low, but they could have at least cleaned it up or told me ahead of time that it had been damaged. An appropriate resolution would have been for them to apologize, acknowledge that their equipment damaged the cover, and offer to pay for a replacement. Instead, I made another trip over there to pick up something that had been damaged by their equipment, with no warning about the condition it was in. Overall, the whole situation was handled poorly and ended up wasting my time.
