Location Location touristic food. Other restaurants says Czech food were full, that is no more reservations taken. So, this had reasonable ratings on Google and Yelp and was two blocks from the Palladium shopping center. Fast to sit down without a reservation. 2 minutes. Another 2 minutes server came to take my order. Surprise. Another 2 minutes and the beef goulash is on the table. So what kind of dish can come that fast? Likely pre-made and slopped on the plate with some nondescript bread. Edible for sure. But not Haut Cuisine. Those places were full. Desert came a minute after the goulash plate was cleared. Like the goulash, the apple strudel was edible. Interesting sauce with what looks and tastes like sesame seeds. Net, hardy fast food if you are in a rush. read more

Meh. The only thing saving this from a 2 star review was the traveling musicians Wanting somewhere close to the venue for our Christmas Carol concert, we wanted to have one last "traditional" Czech meal. Thinking this place would fit the bill, we made our choice Fried cheese & boiled potatoes for me & spatzel for the Mr I will say each dish looked exactly like their pics on the menu but the noodles were completely dry. No sauce, or butter or oil or anything. It was noodles and mushrooms My dish was bland - as expected but at least it was better than the noodle HUGE tour groups came here & thank goodness they did because the traveling musicians were brought in for them. This place is cute and interesting looking, but it is on the pricy side of food in Prague. I wasn't crazy about my main meal (lamb confit) but the mash potatoes and veggies were good. read more

Had to stand at the entrance for about 7 minutes before anyone acknowledged us, but there was a sign there that essentially said, be patient, you will be seated. Sure enough, everything thereafter was extremely prompt with a very friendly English speaking server and bartender in the American bar adjacent to the restaurant. We ordered the duck, pork shank and lamb - all were excellent. Also had the cucumber salad and a chopped salad, couple of beers, whiskey and gin. As with other things in CZ, the cost/price was low. The hall itself is really cool with all of the tile work....when you first walk in, you might be taken aback. But don't be; highly recommend this restaurant (as did the Marriott concierge) read more

We went to the street level dining room. It is beautiful! Our waiter and the piano player were terrific. Then there was our meal - - beautifully presented and delicious: beetroot pate, onion soup, pea risotto and sea bass. The Czech wine selection is great. Totally overpriced, your typical touristic restaurant. The food is kinda ok but definitely not as good as what you can find in little restaurants away from where the tourists are. Would definitely recommend you to go on your way and walk some more to go elsewhere. read more

It's a brewery- restaurant with a sensational interior decoration which is worth to be visited. The regional cuisine is very good and friendly served by the waiters. Food was average, service pretty spotty. I did like the cucumber salad, but my pork medallions were undercooked - wife got the pork larded with potato dumplings and it was underwhelming. Her mixed green salad was more like a tomato and pepper salad with occasional pieces of lettuce. read more

Fast service and lots of menu options. I had the pork belly with potato pancake which was a perfect amount for lunch. Pork was grilled crisp and served with a sweet sauce. Bread was also provided on the side. I also of course had to have a Pilsner Urquell to accompany the meal. Tasty! read more

Have a huge portion of suckling pig..huge portion..taste was okay..not superb or amazing. Potato soup is easy to filling your stomach up. Services is quite slow..a few times, I need to wave my hand to get the waiters notice to take our orders. The restaurant is down the basement and nice deco of the interior. Price seem reasonable and they have certain dishes which offered 50 percent off to attract the tourist during summer season. read more

This place is strictly a tourist trap. The immediate giveaway is a menu in 8-10 languages. I was starving and in the mood for the duck so I still went knowing this. The portion was massive but quality and taste not good. I did not enjoy at all. Food and beer prices were just about twice the amount as other Czech restaurants. The place was quite busy but I'm pretty sure not one Czech customer. Many Japanese tho since menu is in their language too. Also irritating accordion music throughout the meal. Service was not too friendly and slow, but thats normal for Prague. Hostess gentleman was extremely friendly tho, because he knows they just ripped off another tourist. I would recommend Lokal (several locations in Prague) for authentic good Czech food including tastier duck and half the price. Lokal is mostly locals but they have English menu and tourists too. read more

Hard to notice restaurant located in the basement of the Municipal building. Could had been easily mistaken for the Amercian bar which was located beside it. No need to make reservation! Local restaurant with big and ample sitting area. Suitable for big groups as well as for couples. Certainty great for families with children. Although a big restaurant, the ambient was quiet on a Friday night! Wide selection of food, traditional Czech and others. If you love Czech traditional cuisine, this is the place to come. I had the potato soup to start and it was delicious. Goes well with the breads provided. The other starter was a dish of mixed preserved fishes. Would had been better if there were fewer bones in them. For main course we had the traditional Czech roasted duck and the grilled fish. It was half a duck and was enough for two persons. Yes, I know this place is a tourist trap. This whole town is a tourist trap. Regardless of that-my whole group found this place to be delicious. We had the cider, master-something beer, and I had the kozel cherniy which I really liked. Our waiter came up to us and asked which beer we liked most and without hesitation we all said, "Mine!" This was repeated with dinner and dessert. The waiter was actually quite friendly which isn't common here in Europe. Most are polite but few are friendly. I have developed somewhat of a schnitzel problem since being here so I got that with potato salad, one of us got the braised beef which was so tender and flavorful. And the last one got lamb stew. Lamb isn't my thing so I didn't try it-but she loved it. The desserts were so good! I had some sort of a cake that resembled a black forest cake, one friend had the ginger honey cake and the other had some kind of fruit cake. Mine had kind of a dry bottom layer which wasn't my favorite but everything else was excellent. And there was an instrumental band playing right outside! Many say it is too expensive but a meal that's $10 ish for a main course? You spend that much on fast food in America and its mass produced. I don't know what the pay is here so it may be expensive but we found it quite reasonable and delicious. read more

A bit hard to find, but worth the maze. We did not have reservations and we were seated right away (but I think they prefer if you do have them). I had the Goulash and my step-daughter had the beef stroganoff. I am not sure what liquid love they put in their beef stroganoff, but it was AMAZING. The goulash was pretty good. The service was excellent. I have already looked for Czech beef stroganoff recipes on line and can't find one that I think had that secret ingredient. But you MUST go here while visiting. read more

Brought a group of 10 people here earlier this week. Service was fast and friendly, and the menus show pictures of food as well as descriptions in several languages. It is in the basement of a building and is very ornate with a lot of art deco design elements. The prices were reasonable, the pilsner cold, and the food excellent. I had the roast duck and it was great. I think we had almost all the menu items across our 10 people and no one was displeased with their meal. Recommended. read more
