    Exterior bare trim/caulk
    Sam p.

The Job: Replace One 2nd Story Master Bath Window. I have worked in the construction industry alongside all trades in the past over decades. I could have done this install myself - but I wanted to have someone else do it due to my limited time available. Ultimately I spent about 2 days of my own time - which wasn't worth the few hundred bucks I saved by using them. Nice folks though! Pros: 1. Very friendly on the phone and in person. 2. Price was competitive by a couple hundred dollars. 3. Glass itself appears to be solid. 4. Manager offered to have them come back out to address issues (see below why I declined that.) 5. PNWG&M's final offer was 12% off to compensate for lack of our satisfaction (better than nothing). Cons: 1. Communication was dismal & frustrating. 2. Installers used framing materials not rated, nor appropriate for exterior use - especially in the PNW. 3. Sloppy crooked cuts, sloppy caulk, rough finished look. 4. Manager was uninterested in seeing photos of my concerns (very odd). 5. I didn't trust them the come back out to "fix" what was wrong (see below why). Called July 17 for quote. Took a week to get one. When I did, I paid the 50% deposit same day & heard nothing for 16 more days! I emailed them & they replied "Someone should be contacting you to schedule soon". Week goes by, nothing. So, I contacted them again. 1 month so far. Throughout, they'd never reach out to me - or followed up at any time (except for money). Install started on Aug 21. They showed up with the wrong exterior trim. They had to leave and get wood from the hardware store 2x. Came back with raw, unfinished pine 1x4's. When I saw this, I asked him why they were putting raw interior wood on an exterior trim area. You should use a least a primed wood (fir). He replied, "Well, you just paint it and it's good". So I asked are you guys going to at least prime it? And he said no. So now I'm in a pinch to get it painted before I leave next day before it rains. Then, I noticed their sloppy, crooked cuts. I asked them if they ever use a straight edge and a pencil line to make their cuts. I knew the interior was going to look like crap with the amount of caulk they would have to put in. Gaps were from 1/4 - 1/2" wide on the interior. He said, "we will use an 1/8 inch bead of caulk and I promise you'll be happy with the way it looks." I asked, "How are you going to cover a 1/4" to a 1/2" gap with a 1/8" bead of caulk?" He said, "Don't worry, it will look fine." Again, I give them a chance. I ended up having to be there the entire day while they came and went. I had to re-caulk the outside gaps before I finished quickly painting it that night. Inside there were slop and cracks showing. It was awful. I called the manager the next day. I offered photos several times - but he didn't want to see them. He offered to have them come back out. But I knew there was no way they'd be capable of fixing what had been done and I figured they'd make it worse. So I declined. Then he said he would "get back to me" with a final offer of satisfaction. OCTOBER comes, I get a voicemail saying payment's overdue! Again no comms - except for $$$. I assumed they wrote off their mistakes. Called them back and they offered $200 (12% off). No way I'd let them "fix" the mess and make it worse. I asked if that was their final offer and that was that. I should have paid another company more (or done myself). "Deals" not always a deal. I had more details but the review won't let me put more in. Obviously my experience isn't what many others had with them. Not sure why. Good luck and I hope yours goes better.

I read dozens of reviews, went to BBB, their websites, social media. I really do my homework when looking for contractors. While I did get 5 bids, only Legit Roofing actually spent time explaining in great detail their process, products, and warranties and answered all questions we had. The others simply sent me an email with their quote. Will and Dylan were excellent. Came to my home at 6pm on a Friday evening. They spent nearly 2 hours, measuring, explaining their products and all that Legit does to ensure they provide the best roof with the best warranty in the area. 50 year warranty cannot be beat! Their customer service was heads and tails the best, and ultimately why we chose Legit. Their price was a bit higher, but their customer service, attention to details, and quality of products earned our business and this review. They came to our home about 2 weeks later to do the install. Took about 2.5 days total for our 2800 sq ft home. The crews made sure at the end of each day to clean up after themselves, which as a parent and pet owner, I really appreciated. About a week after our roof was complete, Caleb, their quality control guy came out and did a walk around with us to find out how we felt about our new roof. We had nothing bad to say. They were great from start to finish. We highly recommend them. We are considering them for gutters and siding now too, and we have no doubt that we'll be getting quality service and products when we do.

The original representative that we spoke with impressed my husband and I because of how genuinely thorough he was in explaining the process and providing a very detailed, itemized list of the cost. The total cost was very reasonable as well, especially for the quality of the products we received. The office staff was excellent! The siding crew was excellent! The window crew was excellent! The gutter installation crew was excellent! However, we are not completely satisfied with the way the painting crew handled the paint project for our home. In our opinion our home should not have been painted in November because of the cold weather. They stated it would be fine. In addition, protocol was not followed by the painting crew. My husband and I found spots on the finished paint job where we could see the primer. When we asked for the documentation that showed the thickness of the paint applied in the two coats that were required, they hesitated to respond, and when they did respond they told us that they forgot to measure and document the thickness of the paint applied. A paint crew member did return to spot paint the areas in question. We would welcome a different painting crew that would do the job during a warmer season and document the thickness of the paint so that we would have written proof that it was done correctly. We are expecting the one-year follow-up inspection from the owner of Superior Exterior Systems on 10.8.24.

Sean and his team were incredible, from our initial meeting for an estimate through completion of the job. They helped me navigate working through my home insurance to ensure I was issued everything that would be needed to cover cost/damages. All texts and phone calls were typically answered immediately if not than within an hour. My initial estimate was also right in line with the final charges. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome to a very stressful, unexpected life event. Thank you so much!!!

My husband and I hired Cutting Edge contracting after deciding between two roofing/siding companies…read morethat were very comparable. We went with Cutting Edge because Joe was very personable and seemed to have a down to earth, low pressure approach. We felt really good about our decision until the job started to progress. We hired them for roofing, gutters, siding, along with a few add ons to fix framing and such. During the whole process Cutting Edge was doing the work our interior was also getting remodeled so our whole house was down to studs and subfloor so we had a pretty clear view of all the work they were doing. The roofing came first which was chosen to be done at a terrible time. We happened to have an atmospheric storm after the shingles were removed and although it was supposed to be wrapped tight for no leaks we had SEVERAL! I am talking water dripping on my head in the middle of the night. Probably a total of 10 areas throughout my house that leaked. We had to have them come a minimum of 4 times for serious leaks. They were very responsive to that and did come as soon as they could so that was a positive note. We had to point out several errors that were made along the way as well, such as forgetting to do the house sheathing before doing the flashing on the roof so they had to remove the flashing, put down the sheathing and redo the flashing. They used a white caulk on our red brick chimney. One area of the roof had to have the pitch corrected to match the existing roof pitch and they did not support the wall when they cut the support that connected the two rooflines so the wall is no longer level, when it was brought to their attention we were told it wasn't something they could fix at that point because they had already roofed the area. There was a very obvious bow in the fascia board that I had to point out to them and ask them to correct, instead of doing it properly they shimmed it with plastic shims. One of the biggest disappointments is hiring a company who claims to be top level to install a new roof and in some areas the sheathing they used was moldy when they installed it in my house. Even with all the issues along the way I looked past it because they were correcting most of their mistakes and they offered to help do a few free door installs because my husband who was going to do the install broke his back shortly after they started the job. When getting the bid we had them over estimate to know the high end with a full resheet and we were told and trusted they would credit it to reflect what was used as Joe said they would. I do know that only around half the roof needed a resheet so we should have seen a decent credit back on it. When we received our bill we never received any credits back on the over estimate on the sheathing, when I asked about it Joe told me "he was pretty sure any credit was eaten up by the free door install". That is kind of confusing when we are told it is free but then when we are billed we are told differently. The roofers were very messy, inside and outside. I am still cleaning up nails and roofing materials months later. I will give all the credit to the crew that did our siding, they were phenomenal, zero complaints. Gutter install also went well without complaints. So I warn you if you decide to go with this company make sure you have your contract to reflect only what you know you need. Incase it is not clear on my feelings about our experience I will add, I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THE OTHER GUYS.

But I do need to point out some glaring details about this project as a note to myself more than anyone else before hiring this company. I first reached out to them in November last year and Manuel responded back very promptly using the odd messaging system Yelp uses. We traded a few messages, and Justin came out not long after to do a survey on the broken window in the bathroom which looked like it had been hit with a BB or a bullet. He gave me an estimate on replacing that window but pointed out that a lot of my other windows either had a lot of condensation build-up and/or mold beginning to grow out of the dampness. I ended up making the executive call to replace them all. It was a perfectly enjoyable hour or two discussing and then finishing up paperwork. He said he'd be in touch in about 4 - 6 weeks and left. That's where communication on an unprompted basis ended. I waited for almost 2 months before I picked up on the old Yelp thread because no one ever reached out during that period. Manuel told me twice he'd get back to me, but he never did. Someone named Skylar called me and told me Manuel had left on family leave. What kind of professional leaves his customers without notifying them that they are being handed to another representative? Then Skylar handed me off to Luke and despite my request to give me a heads up so I could let my work know if I needed to be home, he never confirmed anything. A third party delivery service showed up while I was sleeping and I had to clear out my garage so they had room. Then half an hour later Alex and his team showed up to start installing. I'm lucky my job was flexible enough to take me not coming in that week, but for other customers, do they have that kind of agility? It took them two days total to do the main job and then finish. After that Alex showed me the work and I signed a paper that he said was more for his team (I do a lot of projects for work and I'm pretty sure they were contractors for ASW). After that Luke said he had to do a walk for job completion that was never followed up on. I called him as promised and he said he'd get back to me, but he didn't. Then came the Docusign asking me to verify the job walk was done. I didn't sign it, thinking he had to do his walk. This was a $20k job. This is the first house I've ever owned. I wanted to be sure. He then said the job walk was done and I signed off on the work which meant the paper I signed with Alex was the final sign off, but he could have just explained this and saved us an email thread. One final laughable detail is his email to me didn't have an attachment, so his marketing team had to send me the photo he referenced to verify I signed. All in all, this whole process left me feeling like I was an inconvenience to them rather than a customer. The plus side: The windows look great. They reduce outside temperature and noise at a noticeable level. But ASW is just the coordinator. Other companies manufacture the windows, deliver them and install them. The one thing they should excel at is communication with the customer, but they decidedly don't.

They resided my entire house (after another company did an awful job that resulted in water damage) and replaced several windows and installed a cedar soffit. Communication could use improvement, and I would not recommend them to replace any exterior doors (their bid was insanely high). There were a few issues along the way (damaged meter box, dented gutter) that I wish would have been brought to my attention, but everything was addressed and in the end the crew went above and beyond to make me happy. They did an excellent job installing a beautiful cedar soffit, which is now my favorite part of my house.

When we were seeking bids, Straight Line was extremely professional and gave us a very top notch presentation. That, combined with the pricing, were the reasons we decided to use them. But we had a big bump along the road.... The work was originally scheduled for late June, but had to be pushed back due to their schedule. Unfortunately, the first couple of days of their work intersected with the last couple of days of our vacation and we were out of town when they began. I will NEVER do that again -- with them or any other contractor. On the last day of our vacation, we received a call from the project manager saying that his crew showed up in the morning to work and saw that our house and shop (a separate outbuilding) had been broken in to. The doors had been pried open with a crow bar (conveniently, an item being used to demo the old siding). Several items had been stolen from our home including both TVs, a brand new lawnmower, and several items that belonged to my dad who is no longer with us and are, frankly, irreplaceable. While it hasn't yet been proven by the sheriff's office, it is very difficult for us to not conclude that the break in was related to the siding work. In 25 years of existence, our neighborhood has never had a break in. We were shook up and our neighbors were shook up. Someone was in our home, in our 18-month-old's bedroom, in every room in our house, going through our things, our file cabinet, our drawers. We feel violated and it has marred our whole experience with the siding. Otherwise, there were several annoyances like the crew playing extremely loud music from their truck, working at our house until 7:00 or 8:00 at night, leaving cigarette butts around the yard, etc. that we probably wouldn't have worried about except we were so rattled by the break in that it just added a whole nother level to the project. So, despite their professional presentation of the bid and the amiable project manager, we are glad to have our property back to ourselves and the siding project completed, and we hope the person that broke in to our home is caught ASAP.
