A very cozy and aesthetically beautiful restaurant with such a welcoming atmosphere. The seating is perfectly arranged near the windows, allowing plenty of natural light to fill the space. I also loved the photos throughout the restaurant--they serve as a beautiful reminder of the history and culture behind the food being served. The owner is as sweet as can be! He was incredibly friendly, warm, and accommodating to everyone's needs. I came in for brunch and, apparently, my eyes were bigger than my stomach because I ordered what felt like two full meals! I don't think my order for the catfish and waffles made it in, but honestly, it worked out perfectly because I was already full after eating just half of the breakfast po' boy. The eggs were cooked perfectly soft, and the home fries were the real surprise for me. They were seasoned with such delicious spices and paired with tender sausage. I even ordered extra home fries! I definitely wasn't expecting that much flavor, but they were so good that I couldn't stop eating them. I absolutely want to come back to try the catfish and waffles next time. This time I ate inside with my daughter after our walk and park trip! I think the owner was there this time, I ordered at the Kiosk but I think they were taking orders at the front (line got line so Kiosk it was lol). This was the first time I brought the catfish and OMG it was delicious by itself. Even my daughter had a few pieces and ate it . They even have crayons, and a high chair. There was not a changing table in the bathroom, just yet I was told. The fries were a hit with a toddler per usual. The gumbo was delicious but definitely more spicy this time around. Coming here has been in the back of my mind for some time now, but I don't live in the neighborhood so it never quite happens. Finally, today it did. I wound up getting the gumbo special, which was quite good. I also got the mac & cheese, and nutella beignets. I was happy with all of the items i ordered. While the gumbo portion was mid-sized, all dishes combined were too much food for my lunch, so I am happy to have leftover gumbo for dinner. I will have to, again, put a second visit here on my to-do list because I want to try a po boy and the bread pudding.... The place, including the restroom, was very clean. It was a laid back atmosphere. Service was extremely polite and friendly. The guy helping me gave some suggestions and was cheerful, with a great disposition. Came here with 4 friends on a Wednesday night and we were the only ones there so the service was fast. Plenty of tables inside for seating. What we loved: jambalaya, creamy grits, shrimp and oyster nuggets (large and plentiful), beignets What was okay: rice and beans, debris fries (was topped with gravy and what looked like mozzarella cheese which made the fries soggy), Cajun fries (weren't that seasoned and were dry), shrimp/catfish/oyster po boys (were essentially like the nuggets with lettuce, tomato and bread; would have been better with more sauce or something that made the sandwich more special). What to skip: muffuletta po boy (was especially bummed out by this especially since it originated in New Orleans. Usually the meats are stacked more than double the height of the bread with a briny relish and what came out instead was a very sad looking wanna be Italian sub with barely any relish). A very cute restaurant in an area of Jersey City that needs more restaurants. I had the shrimp and grits. It was just ok. The shrimp needed more seasoning...the grits had a tangy cheese taste. Ive come back to poboy riche twice since my last review. The wings are an absolute must have. They were a special, but I hope they last! I thought I loved the shrimp poboy, but the catfish poboy is much better. I love the seasoning and the way they were cooked. It paired perfectly with the bread and dressing. I had the honor of hosting a mardi gras party here, and it was perfect. Israel is a pleasure to work with and the staff nailed in with the food. A taste of New Orleans in Jersey City? Sign me up! As part of my birthday activities for the month, I really wanted to try Poboy Riche and they lived up to every expectation! I ordered the shrimp po boy which came with a free order of fries since they have a January promotion going on at the moment. The shrimp were light and crispy and the fries were seasoned so well. I also ordered the beignets which comes with a house made whipped cream. These were sooooo good you have to get the whipped cream. Then the owner had us try a French toast since we did visit during brunch and it was full of flavor. I definitely have to come back for this again. Shoot, I have to come back for everything I ate! Parking in the area could be a bit tough, make sure you are reading the street signs and do not park in the bus lanes. Overall, this was a great experience. Amazing customer service and we got to meet the owner, which was cool. The ambience is very chill and they have fun art photos on the wall of celebrities you may recognize. He focused exclusively on the items that I was considering for purchase. I decided on the combo Po' boy with shrimp and oysters. I also ordered the Fleur de Lis breakfast and 2 beignets (to go). I was very excited to hear a new po'boy restaurant had opened in Jersey City! Not even 24 hours later my family and I were there to try the menu: shrimp po'boy, roster beef po'boy, catfish po'boy, and mushroom po'boy. We also added Cajun fries, beignets, and bread pudding with vanilla ice cream added. I think the shrimp po'boy was the favorite, but everyone liked their sandwich. The fries were a bit of a let down, next time I think I'll try the grits. For desert I tried both options and think you can't go wrong with either. The restaurant is set up as a fast casual restaurant, where you order at the register and they bring the food out to your table. Although this a more causal style of restaurant, Po Boy Riche had great customer service. Po Boy Riche is new to this Jersey City area. Its arrival has been highly anticipated. In my 2 years in Jersey City I have yet to see or hear of any other New Orleans inspired dining places. It's conveniently located close to multiple modes of transportation as well. The NOLA hospitality is also very much alive inside. On January 13th when I saw the little pop-up, I had to call my sister and share with her what I considered as a blessing to Jersey City. I told her I would like to treat her to brunch. On January 17th that following Saturday we made it our business in the snow to test the waters of Po Boy Riche New Orleans style and flavorful taste. Israel the owner is a true jewel; he will surely make sure you are very comfortable and feel at home away from home.
