The exterior looks worn down and unassuming. The interior is small but was able to accommodate our party. The service was good, with both bartenders taking turns serving our table. I ordered happy hour chips and queso, and the queso felt very unfresh and can-like. They only offer one basket of chips & salsa complimentary per the menu but we were a party of 5 and received two. My happy hour app was rung up as regular price. The hard shell bean tacos I ordered had very little beans in them and only beans, no other toppings. There was lettuce, tomato, and cheese on the plate on the side, so I had to dress my own tacos. They tasted okay, not great, not bad. The $6 Monday margaritas are for the 12 oz and are made strong. It's a $1 more for a flavor and $1 more for a larger size (16 oz). The men's bathroom is small and had two urinals that are right next to the bathroom door. I will probably stick with my usual spot in Laurel, called Chido's.

I ate like 3 bites of the black beans, and I told my girlfriend try the black beans and tell me your thoughts. She said these didn't taste good. I said yeah my feeling, too salty. As a matter of fact, these were the worst black beans I've ever had in my entire life. Server was just sitting at the bar; granted they were pretty slow in the restaurant. We flagged someone over who got her attention. She came around. I politely said the black beans were terrible, too salty, please take them back. We will do the refried beans instead. The server didn't ask if wanted any dessert, water refill, or anything else. I was done with my water, but I was ok and would've spoken up if I had wanted more water. But it was like she wanted us to get out of there simply presenting the bill. My girlfriend paid for this meal and asked my opinion on the tip, which I said whatever dollar amount like $5 or whatever, which was roughly 18%. I didn't think she was terribly friendly, but was efficient but also never offered water refill during the meal. But the more I thought about it, we were disrespected at the end with her simply slapping the bill down, and I said we should tipped lower. Maybe like $3 (closer to like 12%) instead of like $5. In summary, we probably wouldn't go back here again even though the enchilada was good. My girlfriend did say the quesadilla was strong. They'd have to improve their beans. They were like a gordita with a thick, soft, fried shell and the inside stuffed with cheese and other toppings if you like. The salsa verde they gave us was SUPER salty; I hope it was just that batch because it really ruined a good thing. The drinks came out quickly, but the food took over 45 minutes to arrive. When it finally did, much of it was cold--not even warm. The biggest issue, however, was the food itself. Everything was incredibly bland and lacked flavor. Mexican food is known for bold seasoning and vibrant flavors, but there was nothing memorable about any of the dishes we ordered. The service was equally disappointing. To top it off, gratuity is automatically added to the bill. While restaurants have the right to set their own policies, it certainly felt frustrating considering the level of service we received. My honest recommendation would be for Don Tigre to stick to what appears to be driving its popularity--the nightlife atmosphere, social media appeal, drinks, and appetizers. If you're looking for a place to have cocktails, take pictures, and enjoy the vibe, you may have a better experience than we did. However, the entrées were overpriced for the quality of the food, and the customer service did not justify the cost. Social media may bring people through the door, but good food and good service are what bring them back. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on both. Long wait times, cold food, bland flavors, overpriced meals, and poor service made this a place I won't be returning to or recommending.
