Small eating area that had dirty plates all over the tables, and an open air kitchen, so you could see them cooking your food. They just seemed like a lot of mess all over the kitchen. we got two quesadillas one El, Pastor taco and two steak tacos. All the food was great, so I think it's definitely worth a try. It looks like a dive from the outside, but the inside is clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. One person spoke English and the rest were only Spanish speaking. That is a sign of a good, authentic Mexican restaurant. We stopped in for breakfast burritos and they made everything from scratch while we were there. You do have to wait a little bit as they cut up the vegetables, etc. It was well worth it. They have green sauce and red sauce available by request. Came in for lunch with my family on a Sunday. Ordered at the counter and ate at a table. There is table service, I just think we ordered incorrectly. Typical ambiance of a taqueria, small, cozy and colorful. I ordered the 3 taco plates with Pastor, wife ordered the same with shredded chicken and my kids ordered the same with carne asada. Liked mine but after eating them all I wasn't happy with the amount of fat mixed in with the meat, honestly. My wife's chicken tacos were a little better but not great. The carne asada tacos were the winners with this meal. Really tasty. Chips are not complimentary( come on!) but the salsas were outstanding, especially the hot, red one. Stopped in after a visit to UMBC and wasn't disappointed. I got the El Ranchito meal. Overall I was pretty pleased with it. The beans and rice were tasty. I would have liked the eggs a bit more runny so I could enjoy that yolky goodness. The steak was pretty thin but packed some good flavor. I think the cactus was done very well. An underrated treasure. I was originally skeptical about this place considering I've had very authentic tacos in California and other places- but, Taquería El Cabrito did not disappoint. They took their time making the food, I didn't mind since I rather know it's freshly made. I ordered the Al Pastor and Chorizo taco. They both were delicious and their salsa verde was actually spicy with a great kick! I wish their Al Pastor had pineapple chunks, but it tasted like Al Pastor nonetheless. El Cabrito is THAT good. A coworker who lives near the place told me to try it out and I'm so glad he did. This place is the real deal; authentic offerings (like huarache and pozole). Taco Tuesdays, the following tacos are available for $1.50: chicken, al pastor, barbacoa (beef), carnitas (fried pork), and carne enchilada (roasted pork). Great way to get your taco on. In addition to the Taco Tuesday special, we got some tacos de lengua, which were so tender and flavorful, and the tacos de chorizo which were a tasty and greasy indulgence. All tacos, in true Mexican fashion, are served with diced onion, sliced lime, and a side of radishes. We got a Torta Milanesa, which was super filling and tasty. Would get again. I came to this restaurant through a Yelp review. I love fish therefore I decided to get the Mojarra Frita accommodated with the rice, black beans and salad. I've had this dish many times before in other Mexican Restaurants. Through my foodie experiences I've come to understand the secret to preparing mojarra frita is to marinade the fish with a number of seasonings. Unfortunately this is where they missed the mark, their seasonings were a bit bland. Not to mention, the fish was a tad bit overcooked causing it to be dry and a little chewy. I also felt this way about the rice and black beans, they just didn't sing "Yo amo cocinar" aka I love to cook. On a lighter note, the service and portion sizes were great. When I'm craving Mexican food, I don't usually venture too far from my favorite local joint Taqueria Los Primos because most other places I've tried have been a disappointment in comparison. But, I was running errands in the Arbutus area and decided to give Taqueria El Cabrito a shot and man did my life change for the better. Food - 5/5 I ordered the Hay Oaxaca, which comes with your choice of meat on three different vessels: huarache, sope, and taco. I got it with al pastor, a savory and tender marinated pork that's paired with small chunks of sweet pineapple. The corn tortillas for the taco were toasted to perfection and provided a nice crispy texture. Their green tomatillo salsa also added some bright acidity to cut through the fat and salt, culminating in a well-balanced bite. Sope is a thicker fried corn tortilla, topped with refried beans, mayo, meat, lettuce, and cheese. This tortilla had a much crunchier exterior, fluffy interior, and a flavor reminiscent of the fried wonton strips served with hot and sour soup. The refried beans were unbelievably creamy with a smokey undertone that added to the depth of flavor. The cheese on top wasn't overly salty. As a whole, the sope was wonderfully rich and satisfying, though the flavors of the meat became somewhat lost amidst the medley of toppings. Much of the same can be said about the huarache, which has all the same toppings but on a fried thin corn tortilla instead. If you're a purist and prefer to have the flavor of the meat shine, go with the taco. If you want a flat bread with a nice texture contrast, go with the sope. If you want something akin to tidier nachos, go with the huarache. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the three. Why not just get them all! Value - 5/5 For context, I'm a 6 ft (ok, fine, 5'11") 160 lb male. This $15 entree easily provided enough food to feed me comfortably for two meals if I wasn't such a fata** and overate. Each tortilla was piled high with meat and toppings that spilled with every bite. At a time when some Mexican restaurants are charging $5-9 PER TACO (looking at you Tacombi), this place is an absolute steal, not to mention their $1.50 tacos on Tuesday! Service - 3/5 The lady at the counter was nice. She quickly took my order and called out when it was ready. That was the extent of my interactions with the employees, absolutely nothing wrong about that. You don't come here for the service, you come here for the food. Trust me, you'll be too busy stuffing your face to care. tl;dr Having never been to Mexico or Oaxaca, I can't speak to the authenticity of their food. But everything sure was damn delicious. Come here if you're looking to try something different from the usual, uninspired Tex-Mex fare. Come here if you enjoy generous portion sizes and great value. I totally love coming here for taco Tuesday's. This place doesn't look like much from the appearance, but the taste of their tacos always draws me back again. They offer 5 different types of tacos or pupusas on Tuesdays for just a $1.5: carnitas, al pastor, and chicken, barbacoa, and carne enchiladas. My favorite changes each time, but this week, I thoroughly enjoyed the enchiladas the best . All the tacos are super meaty and each plate of them comes with radishes, onion, cilantro, a roasted chili pepper and a bulb of green onion (so cute!). But beware of the pepper! Depending on the pepper, some are insanely spicy and some are just sweet. Besides their awesome taco Tuesday deals, what really wins my heart over is the size of their drinks. I ordered their house horchata and it came in one of those 32 oz. large to-go plastic containers. To put the size into context, that is two pints. Who needs a pint of beer when you can get TWO pints of spicy and creamy horchata?? I have never seen any restaurants serve their drinks like this. It's so original and refreshing, perfect to wash down the heat from the roasted chili peppers. I ended up drinking one and a half of these by myself because it was so good (I have no idea how it all fit in my belly). This is definitely my go-to spot for tacos!! read more

This establishment is fantastic. Please be aware, if you do not speak Spanish the ordering process will be cumbersome. I speak absolutely no Spanish whatsoever, but as long as you can manage to pronounce the menu items correctly you have a chance of actually receiving what you order. Personally I have not ventured outside of tacos, burritos and chimichangas. I have tried all their different protein options and there is only one you need to stay far, far away from - all the others are top tier, absolutely fantastic. The fish taco is an embarrassment, they serve two microwave fish sticks between a tortilla. I have seen other yelp reviewers describe the same experience and I have even seen the owner himself respond to these fish taco allegations... denying them. If you are reading this Mr. Owner, if you want people to stop talking about it - improve or remove the fish taco from your menu of offerings. I would recommend strictly carry-out only. One interesting downside you would not expect is that this restaurant does not sell/supply drinking water. You can order passion fruit drinks, sparkling water, Horchata, traditional American soda and basically every flavor imaginable of jarritos - but no water. If you prepare yourself for the language barrier and order carry out you will be thanking yourself for choosing this restaurant. I love Taqueria el Cabrito. Also, side note. If I was the owner of the chain El Cabrito Mexican Grill I would be contacting a copyright infringement lawyer immediately. I got 3 tacos; a fish, a pork skin and a pork tongue. They were amazing, flavorful and they were each so different so it was Luke having 3 different treats for lunch. I liked how their tacos are served on perfectly grilled corn tortillas. The fish was lightly batter fried and topped with seasoned tomatoes and lettuce. Been here a couple of times and it's always delicious. They are doing dine in and there's usually plenty of street parking available. The best thing about this place is that tacos are $2.50 a piece. Cheaper than a lot of the places in the area but just as good. I recommend choosing any of the pork and beef options while staying away from the chicken. Their nachos are also delicious. I love Al pastor tacos and I was excited to eat the 3 I ordered. Unfortunately I found out that the lighter colored chunks in the tacos were not pineapple, they were fat. I'd say about 50% of the meat in my tacos were fat. I have an aversion to the jello-y texture so most of the tacos went into the trash. If you have no problem with fat then you'll be fine. The chefs really know their seasonings. My favorite was the enchilada flavored beef. I also really enjoyed the large grilled green onion & jalapeno on the plate. The moicajete was a mixed grill plate. It's a great value, $16 for a massive pan of meat, sides (rice, beans, and more grilled veggies), and toppings (guac, sour cream, lettuce medley, and peppers)- it's ideal for a make your own taco set up! Her husband picked up and was able to understand my attempt at speaking Spanish. I ordered the Barbacoa platter (beef), 4 Al Pastor Tacos, the Hay Oaxaca, El Moicajete and 2 Horchatas. Horchata - rich, creamy deliciousness that isn't too sweet nor does it have an overwhelming taste of cinnamon. However, it does not have the toasted rice flavor that I love. Barbacoa - it's beef, not goat, BUT IT WAS INCREDIBLE. It was extremely juicy, tender and flavorful. Please keep in mind it contains plenty of fatty pieces. Hay Oaxaca - my brother had it and he said it was fantastic. Al Pastor Tacos - fatty, juicy, tender and plenty on a single semi-fried tortilla. Add a little bit of that red sauce and lime and you're golden. El Moicajete - I'm certain this is a promotional deal because the amount of food you get for $16 is unbelievable. Oh and the quality??? Yeah, it's marvelous. The chicken was slightly on the dry side BUT the flavor was packing. Everything else in that platter was spectacular. Just look at the photo and you'll have an idea just how amazing this is. There is only 1 other place that I love but that's in Laurel. This is only 10 minutes away from where I live. Last night we had a guest come in from out-of-town and we ordered dinner from here. 8 Taco de Lengua, 1 taco salad, 2 orders of chips with guacamole. Tuesday tacos were poorly wrapped on the plates and spilled out a little, there was no guac for either chip order, and the salad was terrible, aside from the shell. That was really good. There was hardly any filling in the salad which had about a pinch of lettuce. It was skimpy and dried out. Because of having it delivered, this order added up to $82. I did get a refund from Grubhub for the two chip orders. Still- I will never waste my money there again. read more
