Pretty decent. The staff are very sweet and prompt and while the menu leans towards Tex-Mex, I found an enchiladas poblanas on it which were an ample portion and very authentic in preparation. The chicken in them was a bit dry, probably cooked earlier for including in a multitude of recipes, but the rice was very good and the sauce was as well. The restaurant has a festive atmosphere and they had a Mexican soccer game on TV which, as a huge soccer fan, I enjoyed seeing. I happened upon this place at an odd hour, so it wasn't busy, but I noticed the other folks eating were all Mexican-Americans which is always a good sign. Per the quality/taste, normally I'd only give three stars but Mountain City just isn't the biggest place around, you know? Given the size of this community and friendliness of the staff, I will give a full four stars. I feel this is a solid and probably dependable place to go for Mexican if in the area. read more

It wasn't fried at all but it was decent My husband said "I ordered the pork street tacos and they were dry, not much flavor, and 1 entire taco was just gristle and fat that was completely inedible. The fried ice cream was just plain vanilla rolled in corn flakes and tasted like a freezer. The chips and salsa were ok, but that's because the salsa was pretty bland but I like the thickness. This is a top favorite place for us! The food is excellent, and if there is a mistake, they are quick to correct it. The service is friendly. The prices are very good. I always have special requests, and they are very happy to accommodate me. I highly recommend if you are in Mountain City. Completely baffled by their decision to place tomato paste down as a table salsa, and that they try to pass off three soggy tortillas with a scoop of watered down refried beans in them as burritos. The vegetarian menu lead me to believe that an equal and adequate substitute for meat would be offered, however when our food was delivered we asked for a manager right away. When I asked for clarification as to why my "bean burrito" was a tortilla leaking its only contents of refried, pulverized, diluted bean paste... the manager asked if I had specified what should be in the burrito upon ordering. -because I mentioned expecting black or pinto beans. We asked for the check instead of arguing over their sad excuse for Mexican food, and politely left. I'm upset we paid $20 for a meal we legitimately didn't eat. My wife and I ate here while passing through the area. We walked in and were immediately met, greeted, & were showed to a booth. We were giving our menus & asked for our drink order, which were immediately brought back to us. We ordered the same thing, so I can't tell of multiple dishes. We ordered beef taco salad s and they were excellent. If not maybe too large, but hey who's complaining . Pleasant service, clean, cozy, & inexpensive. I made this account because I saw that someone said the refried beans were a bit runny- and I concur. Although it is concerning, I won't let the viscosity of my beans ruin the meal. The food was great and customer service superb. I got the ACP with pineapple and I was skeptical at first, but it was tasty. There was a picture of a donkey on the table and it was cool. Ignore the bad reviews. This place is great. We don't live here but were passing through and stopped in. Get any one of the ACP dishes and you'll be happy - I can't speak to any of the other food. We live in Texas and this is better than most places around Dallas. Also, we have a house in Florida near Orlando and this is better than most places around there as well. Great ambiance. Friendly but inattentive staff. My two adult sons and I were eager for a big meal after a weekend backpack at Grayson Highlands. Reviews looked acceptable and we didn't want to wait until Boone to hit places we were familiar with. So out of hunger we took a chance. The menu options were outstanding and reasonable prices. Ordered a ton of food. The tamales and Chile rellenos showed up after a 20+ min wait. And they were cold. Ever had a cold chili relleno? The huevos rancheros were slightly warmer. The food was typical of a small Mexican restaurant- I've been to the same exact type of place in practically every city I've spent time in. Nothing exceptional but your there for a big meal that's decent and not pricey. Fresh nacho chips. Mind you we were starving so we were a pretty easy bunch. But waiting a while for cold food? Disappointed. This is the kind of food you expect to come out with oven mitts PIPING HOT. I would have given this place three stars if everything came out hot, but we will never come back here. WASTE OF $20 ...After Excitedly choosing Pablanos Mexican Grill due to exclusive specific vegetarian options on their menu....we were extremely displeased to learn that "one bean burrito, one cheese burrito, and a Chalupa" was three soggy tortillas stuffed with diluted refried bean paste slopped with mediocre red sauce for seven dollars. After asking for clarification on the menu we were met with resistance, asked for the check, and left politely. Rather than offering to fix the food or change a meal, the manager said it was not their fault since they had been an establishment for well over 10 years. The manager seemed to believe that after saying it was our first visit, the fault was ours. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR ACTUAL MEXICAN FOOD. We didnt even order our to-go food for a friend back home. Very colorful, authentic mexican decor and great food, very filling and tasty. Ordered the Number 3 lunch special which included a beef taco, beef enchilada, rice, and beans. Asked for water and waiter brought out two non-refrigerated bottles of water. Would have liked them cold. Had to ask for ice. Other than that a good place. read more

Family owned eatery that serves up excellent food and lots of it. And the prices are AMAZING. This will be a go to restaurant for us now that we have relocated to Mountain City. We've been here several times and all I can say is each time it gets BETTER and BETTER! LOVED our first visit and nothing here has ever disappointed us. Portions are VERY generous so do come hungry.
