To be frank I have very middling experiences going to Pockets every now and again. It is a pool hall. It does have a bar. And my times there with friends are fun but other environmental factors cause me to rate it lower. I will say the best part about it is definitely the staff as they are very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable whenever you have questions or requests. The tables aren't bad though I do find myself interrupting the shots of every single other person around me when trying to play. It is a cramped space in many regards and overall a small area to play in or walk around. I find I'm either sweating to death or freezing and there's no in between and I'm not sure why? There is popcorn and chips you can grab as it isn't much of a food place but they do have a good bar with all the standard options you would expect. They have a few game machines nearby in that area too- nothing too huge. A few dartboards from what I recall too. I will say it isn't my #1 spot but for meeting up with friends who live nearby in the city it is a good meetup spot and serves its purpose as we all adore playing pool. read more

No frills, divey & nostalgic pool hall/bar. Stumbled in here with some friends by chance, ended up having a great time. The bar is pretty small and nothing is on tap, so don't expect any fancy umbrella drinks here. There were about a dozen pool tables and some cool arcade machines as well. You come here to play pool on pro-tables for cheap. No frills. The tables could be in better condition but they are considerably better than Big City, so are the cues. There are about 15 pool tables. The staff is.....whatever. They run a pool hall and they could give a f&#. And, as a side note, don't listen to them when they say there is a pool tournament. There probably isn't. And, from what I heard, when they do run them, they are crooked and mismanaged. read more

No beers on tap and none of the bottles are anything crafty. Sticks we kinda crap and was given a bad table, looks like they save good ones for players they know. Good price 10.80 for a full size table, just not greatest shape. Had to byob outside. Oh and they check backpacks. Hit the spot before my flight at Logan. Didn't get to play the arcade games. This was the worst place you could ever go. If you go to Boston, don't go here. "Bouncers" are ridiculous. Take their jobs so seriously. Like calm down. You're not the secret service for the FBI. You're checking IDs. The place itself was not good. Definitely could go somewhere better. read more

Only because John made our night, do I truly have to write this review. Per usual I made my way into this after hours pool hall near my house. On separate occasions I've taken friends of mine to shoot some pool, play some air hockey, throw back some beers but this last time was different. After hitting up the lotto machine and slowly sipping on a nice cold Budweiser, something amazing happened. John a sweet gentlemen who with ease and grace, runs the cashier sparked a conversation that ended with such great moods, he made a regular out of me merely for his conversation/poise. This is def a great hang out spot for Billards, privacy and getting to know new people. Its a guy scene set up as a man cave but def a one of a kind spot you'd have to come enjoy for yourself. read more

I stopped by here about a week ago. It was during the day and just opening up. I was the only person in the place. Decent atmosphere, it is in a basement so not much in the way of natural lighting. They have a bar, some arcade games, air hockey and 12-15 tables. They are in decent condition, some wear, but not as bad as some that i've seen. I was given a table all the way in the back corner, and parts of the floor were uneven and soft. I would stay to the middle of the room if you have the choice. As someone who takes pool pretty seriously, it was a good place to practice for a short period of time. Only thing I was unhappy with was $10 an hour even during the day, would have liked to see lower rates. read more

Just stopped in looking for something fun to do, and boy we found just that! There was so much to do between the pool tables, the dart board, the arcade games, the music-- and oh yeah-- THE BEER FOR $5 AND LESS! (I am a beer drinker, but it looked like they had a lot of fun mixed drinks too!) To make things even better, we went on Sunday when the Celtics we playing their first playoff game, and we got to enjoy it with a bunch of other Boston fans as they had it playing on a huge TV with a couch and plenty of table space! No tap beer, they definitely have limited liquor license so there is no drink selection at all, drinks are served in a plastic cups, you have to pay for the music that is pretty ridiculous, pool tables are not in a great condition, last time I went there stuff was wicked rude, I'm highly disappointed. read more

I'm not one to ever pull out the prejudice card, but there were many time my friends and I were mistreated by the staff. It could have been either because of our ethnic backgrounds (which I hope is not the case in our day and age) or our young ages, making us less valuable patrons because we can't spend money at the bar. Either way, I was never more sure that we were being treated differently than other customers. One of my many poor experiences there was when my friends and I were paying the bill for a table and as we were collecting money at the front desk, he kept the tab running and charged us more for the few seconds it took for us to collect money. As we handed the money in a rush, I was sure I gave him extra (unintentionally) and asked to recheck the amount. He said no, without counting it in front of us. ok so its not a fancy 2017 pool hall, but it gets the deed done. its your moms and pops pool hall... plenty of pool tables, air hockey and yes they need to fix many of the arcade games. but you get a cold beer, its a friendly homely feeling place, you feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. variety juke box with up to date music. gotta give credit where deserved. I went there a week ago on a friday nite to catch up with a friend and it was comfortably full by many different nationalities...so cool...cool vibes, good atmosphere. I like it because it doesn't get too full and its a right size hall...check it out and don't discriminate if you see some ol 70 /80 styles gentleman...its their flow and you must respect. I personally never seen anyone doing drugs in bathroom, but let me be honest, do you and don't bother others. keep it to yourself and keep it moving, aside from that, this place is not so bad, yes there s probably room for improvement, but it is what it is and it will do for now. we must support our small business.!!! read more
