Love this place especially if you love some old school games. Love that you can play games for free (ps5 or Xbox) just pull up to the bar an ask. Good drinks but it's about 75% ice in the large glasses. I've been here several times and the service is pretty good but it does get busy. The ambiance is nice and has an upscale arcade feel to it. This is such A FUN BARCADE! My friends and I went out for the night for drinks, mini-games, and silly laughter times! The service at the bar was fast and smooth, it got busy at times, but I didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes for a drink. When you come to the establishment, it is in the BACK, you have to go through a metal door, so it has a cool speakeasy like vibe. You have to provide some $$ to get arcade coins, but it wasn't expensive, we got to play a lot of different games like basketball or foosball or racing. The one downside is that at the time we went, the music was so loud, it was almost impossible to hold a conversation in the arcade, so I hope they would reduce the volume a little bit for future patrons. Knowing we had a reservation somewhere else later in the evening, I just wanted a snack -- and Roxy's hit the spot. Roxy's is super close to our hotel, which made it even better. They have a fun selection of different grilled cheeses -- we shared the steak and cheese and an order of onion rings. We didn't order drinks but they kindly offered cups for water, which was appreciated. It's hard to mess up onion rings and these did not disappoint -- perfectly crispy. The steak and cheese was good too; personally, I'd have liked the peppers grilled a bit longer so they'd be softer, but that's just my preference -- I know some people love the crunch. I've been to Roxy's a couple of times and it's always been a fun time for chilling and hanging with friends, going on a date, or meeting new people! First off, the grilled cheese part of it aka the front, honestly is so delicious it could stand alone. Their short rib grilled cheeses are unreal and the poutine hit for someone who has had poutine withdrawals in the last couple of months! We came after a long day of drinking and needed some good unhealthy food cause et's be honest a great night never ends in eating a salad. We came around 8:00 on a Saturday night and walked right in. The guy at the counter helped direct us on how and what to order, thank goodness because I was overwhelmed. We all got a different grilled cheese, tots and a milkshake. Not one of us made a bad decision. After we ate we went back to the arcade for some drinks and games. The arcade was pretty crowded and it only got more packed. The space in the arcade was a bit cramped to begin with but if you add more than about 20 people walking will be tight. The drinks at the back bar were also fun but a bit too sweet for me, probably not all of them just the ones I ordered. I saw some reviews about there only being a few games unfortunately I don't think these people walked through the doors to the actual arcade. Roxy's is a fun spot, but it's a bit overpriced for the games. I'd probably prefer Versus, where you pay a flat fee (or sometimes even free!) and can play unlimited games. That being said, Roxy's is cleaner and the machines work better. The concept is cool, with the restaurant upstairs, and the speakeasy type entrance to the arcade area downstairs. Came in today at 11:57am got a Double fried chicken sandwich (no hot Honey) and got Green Muenster with applewood bacon and guacamole. Classic three cheese cheddar Muenster Monterey sandwich and The central roasted mushroom and tomato basil pesto. To wash it down I got the home made lemonade drink. Chicken sandwich was great bun was fresh tasting and the chicken was delicious crispy on outside and moist inside pickles and lettuce was good altogether. Green Muenster bacon and guacamole was so good crispy bread and guac was fresh and bacon was good salty cheese and guac is a must have in sandwich! The Central with mushroom tomato basil pesto was good loved the mushrooms and also crispy bread with the basil pesto was very good. First time here? The arcade bar is "hidden" inside Roxy's Kitchen so don't feel like you're in the wrong spot! The line was kind of long, a 30 minute wait for us around 9pm. The guy at the door was incredibly welcoming and friendly and handled people coming in and out very quickly. Once you're in, you go through the kitchen "doors" and enter the arcade bar. They offer various games, but there's definitely not enough games for everyone because you have to wait your turn for the popular games like the super Mario kart. It's $10 for 40 tokens and each game is 4 tokens while the older version games like pac man are 2 tokens. So I think it's pretty affordable to play about 10 round of games for $10. There's 2 bars, one in the front and one in the back of the arcade. You can also order off of Roxy's kitchen and they'll serve you inside the arcade. Overall, the drinks were amazing and very colorful and definitely matches the vibe of the arcade. Perfect balance of alc and juice, but definitely not something to get wasted from. The first time I went on a Saturday it was $5 cover and a long line at 9pm. The DJ played a fun mix of music. Games cost 2-4 tokens ($0.50-$1) which is not bad. 1 credit card swipe = $10 for 40 tokens. The amount of play time and fun level of each game varies a lot, and it's not all proportional to cost. Word to the wise - this place is popular and gets packed! Especially if you're coming on a weekend night, come early or be prepared to wait in line. A4 has an interesting mishmosh of games. There are a few more modern ones, some old school "stick and button" games, a fair amount of pinball machines, and your skee-ball and basketball machine. They also have a Cruis'n Exotica racing machine- talk about a throwback! (at least for me). All together, a great selection with something for everyone. Value is pretty reasonable all things considered. Most games take somewhere between 2 and 4 tokens (four tokens to a dollar). Token dispensers also take credit cards that dispense in $10 increments. These machines also have cups up top for holding your tokens, and arcade machines have cup holders! Speaking of cupholders... there are two bars (same menu) that have drinks and food, including non-alcoholic options. While none of these blew me away, they were certainly solid - no complaints on any front. Especially where it comes to the non-alcoholic option, these were more than just a Roy Rogers or Shirley Temple. Final note: while the crowds can make it crowded, they manage to keep a more-or-less good vibe, and they have a DJ some nights. I love this place. They are known for their fancy aray of cheese sandwich selections which are very tasty but their burger selections are are just as good. The double fried chicken sandwich is incredible, its both picy and sweet prepared stacked with fixin's. In fact one of the best places in the area to go for really good chicken sandwiches if you are like me and that's your thing. Customer service is fast and very good. I love this bar in theory. In theory, it should be a great combination retro games, nerdy drinks and a general vibe of acceptance to the myriad oddities of geekdom. In practice, it's a lot of MIT children wearing chunky glasses and flannel and spilling their grown-up juice all over a jacked up TMNT machine. Coming here on a weekend is a non-starter, the only game you'll get to play is one of those non-descript ones with the knob that not even the power of its quaintness can save. Weekdays it's more fun, but the food/drink game is pretty mediocre. It's tricky to review this - I'd still probably go back here (though not on a weekend). I like the theory of the place. Glad to see this place reopened after being closed for so long! I find A4cade to be a solid attraction if you're looking for a fun night out with good drinks and a nice variety of games. We came here after dinner on a Saturday evening and didn't have to wait, but by the time we left at around 9, there was a line out the door. If you don't want to wait, I'd recommend coming here somewhat early! They have a good selection of games ranging from old classics to more modern games ( some of my favorites are Mario Kart, skeeball, and Guitar Hero ) and the price is reasonable. You can get a lot out of $10 and there's plenty to keep you occupied. The space itself is very cramped nonetheless, they really stuffed as many games as they could along with tables and chairs as well as places to set your drinks down. It definitely felt a little stuffy being inside, but due to its popularity, it makes sense as to why it was so packed. The drink was very good - I'd love to try more of their menu another time! We both got Princess Peach's Downfall and I enjoyed it a lot. I think the mix of all the flavors complemented each other well - if you like rum based drinks that are fruity and not too sweet, I'd recommend this one! Overall, I will definitely be coming back. This was suuuuch a fun place! I loved the speakeasy aspect to this arcade and it was such a welcoming place! The bartenders were so kind and helped us figure out where the token machines were and even which drinks were good! The atmosphere is very loud (it's an arcade, it sounds like one) but somehow not overwhelming! They had so many different types of games (skiball, pinball, basketball, old arcade games, new arcade games, MarioKart) so that everyone could play! The tater tots were absolutely delicious and such a perfect thing to order while playing the games, they even came out to tell me that the poutine tots weren't gluten free, which was so kind of them! Pro tip: get a grilled cheese and go early! I have been here 3 times with different groups of friends and everyone loves it! The only thing is it gets SUPER BUSY if you go Friday or Saturday night. One time there was a $5 cover which luckily they accepted credit card in addition to cash. If you can, try going Thursday! If you ask, you can get a drink in a special cup! We got the R2D2 it costs a little more than a normal drink BUT it's a big cup intended to be shared between 2 people. We ordered individual cocktail drinks that were $14 each and the R2D2 was around $30 or so. Don't get me wrong the drinks are good, but the highlight for me was the grilled cheese! Don't skip out on the food! You can order the food in the restaurant before you go in but they will also serve the food once you go past the secret door. Tokens for games cost $10 for 40 and most games cost 2-4 tokens each. For 2 people this amount of tokens was fine for us! With a larger group, we spent $20 on tokens and divided them up into cups. Despite this, the guy at the door was so beyond disrespectful I actually thought he was joking. Treated my group of 4 as if he hated our guts. I got the spinach and artichoke dip, which was good but it was more like cream cheese. Still good though! Went on a Friday with a bunch of friends around 7ish and we left around 11 so it was definitely a good time. There was a DJ who came around 9 and she was awesome! One cup of coins ($10) lasted the entire night for two people (probably because we also spent time just hanging out and having fun conversation) and all in all, it was really great. This place is a great idea to bring back all the old school games that not many people play anymore, but they do have a few current games like Mario kart. I'm glad I came right as they opened because by the time we left it was getting really crowded since the place is so small. You get your ID's checked and enter through a kitchen style door into the magical wonderland of games including pinball, skee-ball, Pacman, and many more. They serve all of Roxy's food and plenty of awesome drinks that I saw on the menu, quite pricey though. They serve truffle fries & tator tots, which is great, but mostly taste like regular fries. They keep track on all your food/drinks/tokens on a tab, while they hold your card. There's a fair number of games to play, mostly for 1-2 people, but they do have a few 4 player games. They have a shuffleboard along the side, bar seating, and a few tables to sit down at. There are convenient hooks under the tables to hang your jackets while you play games. We came here on a Saturday night so there was a line to get in. The wait wasn't too bad but it was kind of chilly outside. Note that this is inside of Roxy's so you won't find a A4cade sign. It's a good thing that they have coat check because it is so hot and stuffy inside. They have a decent range of games: pinball, claw machine, driving games, basketball, shooting games, and more. We spent around 2 hours there and we each bought $10 worth of tokens. One of my friends did get her tokens stolen while we were playing a game, though. We also got drinks. I got the Lonely Girl margarita and it was pretty strong. Average cocktail prices so can't go wrong there. It's a cool place to check out once but I don't think I'd go back again. read more
