I'm a fan! Got me with the biscuits and gravy off the bat they are a home run! The basic breakfast and the thick cut bacon was amazing! I loved it and was so full! Coffee is great and they will fix anything on the spot if there's an issue. The pancakes are superb and the burgers are pretty damn big! Bring your appetite and prepared to be stuffed! The homemade lemonade is worth the price and you get free refills! read more

This was the 4th annual trip for my daughter and I. We love the festive hot chocolate at Pocketstone. This year we shared the purple dragon burger with the veggie burger option. I would not have remembered it was a veggie burger and actually thought there was a mix up but the surface of the burger was confirmation that it was indeed. Very nice and spicey but not overly so. Berries and cream cheese are served on the side. We chose the country tomato soup as our side. It was amazing and I don't usually like tomato soup. It was chock full of vegetables, thick, creamy and flavorful. read more

I've heard a lot about this place but had never been. Finally tried it on a pre-peak season day and wasn't really impressed. Service was okay. The burgers were underseasoned or plain unseasoned. A little salt goes a long way. No amount of jalapeño or cheese could fix it. Or purple sauce or anything. The fries were good. The size and portion was good and the idea was good but just lacked any pizzazz and dude a little mrs dash or something. Jeez. The burgers don't come with veggie fixings like lettuce, onion or tomato, which can be standard for a gourmet burger, but this one needed it. And I had to pile on the ketchup to try to season the burger, and I'm not using a ketchup fan. Overall, pretty underwhelmed. But a good people watching spot on the deck in downtown Bigfork. read more

Tried for 1st time and I will go back. Food was great- had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Sausage gravy was excellent! Great service as well. And the cinnamon rolls are excellent! Took one to go. Nice spot in downtown Bigfork. read more

First off, fantastic food!! Home made and delicious. The service was so slow... all my wife and I ordered was a club sandwich and onion rings and we sat waiting for close to 35 minutes. Otherwise it was a good experience, definitely would come back. read more

A waitress from another breakfast restaurant recommended this place, and it turned out to be just around the corner from where we were staying in BIGFORK, MT. Bigfork is NOT BIG, so we were lucky to get the tip to eat here. It is located in a really cool downtown shopping area (mainly galleries and bars), so you have a chance to walk off your large breakfast. The menu has a great selection of healthy options as well as the not so healthy, which were delicious! Give them a try if you're ever in the area! read more

We enjoyed great service and great food We ordered the honey wheat pancakes with orange maple syrup the chocolate chip pancakes light and fluffy country Benedict was delicious and biscuits and gravy homemade goodness hot chocolate is over the top and coffe and cappuccino was perfect we also grabbed some scones cookies and lemon bars for later great place well worth it! read more

Not even average. We have a favorite cafe' on MT Hwy 83, in Bigfork, but decided to spread our business and try Pocketstone. Mistake. I ordered blueberry pancakes, but they came with no blueberries. My husband ordered a burger, that was meager at best and looked more like a SMALL fast food product than a gourmet burger. He got possibly 15-20 fries and the plate looked VERY empty! The sauces and syrup were in plastic containers on the side and the presentation just looked tacky. Our waitress was not friendly and evidently didn't listen to our order since it came out wrong. We had to ask for coffee refills and cream. There were about 4 other occupied tables, and other servers, and we did not come during a busy time of day. We paid the bill on the waitresses handheld device, which I just hate, while she was staring at us, which made me uncomfortable when adding the tip in. We're locals and won't go back. it just didn't live up to my standards for the price - pretty expensive for what you get. There are other good options near by. read more

We were last here about four years ago and did not have a good experience. With the passage of Labor Day, our choices diminish. We decided to give this place another try; I am glad we did. It always helps there is a table available when you arrive. We were greeted promptly and sat at a satisfactory table. Our server came quickly and we each had a glass of water essentially immediately. We each ordered a sandwich, which was prepared in a reasonable period of time. My BLT was excellent. Of course, I ordered avocado with the sandwich. It was soft and just ready to eat. I substituted marbled rye for the bread. Did I say this was an excellent sandwich? The bacon was not quite crisp, just the way I like it. Nothing worse that dried bacon on a sandwich. The lettuce was crisp. The tomato had flavor. After all, it is tomato season right now. Rebecca ordered the turkey club. It was also excellent, although very wide. It stretched the jaw to eat. Her soup was warm and flavorful. My slaw had flavor without too much vinegar. All in all, I am glad we returned. It helped we were after Labor Day and the crowds are smaller. However, we had a great meals and will return. Try it when you are in Bigfork. read more

I some some very tasty food, but the service was rather lackluster. They were mildly busy on the day I came, but you would have thought they were slammed. Every step of the breakfast process took too long . . . getting a menu, getting water, getting coffee, ordering, getting a refill, waiting, getting the bill, paying the bill, etc. I am not sure if they are understaffed, but they sure gave that impression. As for the food itself, it was rather good. My omelet was a tad overdone (brown on the outside), but the flavors and fillings were solid. The local preserves were excellent on my toast. The ice water had a slightly fishy odor to it. read more

Waited half an hour for our food. One Rancher special and 2 kids meal. The 2 tables came in after us already got their food and finished. food is ok nothing special. The manager was finally notified after the waitress gave me the wrong check from another table. Seriously...... I had to ask for the manager. So she gave 25% discount. Horrible service from the waitress. If your table is missing food or late you should be in the kitchen asking for the food till you serve them. Not serve other table first. But I still tip her since she depend on tips to survive. Do you think I will go back with my family? read more

Love this local favorite breakfast spot! The staff is always friendly and courteous. My favorites are their eggs Benedict and pancakes! But, you have to get at least 1 cinnamon roll to share! Love their sandwiches for lunch, too! Their fries are great! read more

The Pocketstone Cafe is a 65-seat cafe on Electric Avenue in downtown Bigfork Village. We specialize in what we refer to as "Home cooking from a simpler time." What that means is that we cook good, simple food from scratch, the way Grandma used to. Of course, we go a little beyond that and try to do it better. Grandma, for example, didn't have Big Dave's recipe for buttermilk pancakes and she never thought about making a Reuben sandwich. But the care and energy Grandma put into her cooking is present in everything we serve. We hope your first bite will be accompanied with a sense of awe as you realize how good simple cooking can be. And we hope your whole experience will feel like a trip to Grandma's house, from the quaint, cozy atmosphere to the feeling of welcome all the time you're here. So join us for breakfast or lunch. We look forward to meeting you.

History

Established in 2010.

The Pocketstone Cafe served its first paying customer on June 4th of 2010. A project of three owners (David Vale, Carolyn Vale, and Karie Stidham), three entrepreneurs who had never owned (or even worked in) a restaurant before, the Pocketstone Cafe has become a favorite breakfast haunt of many of the Bigfork year-round residents and will be a seasonal favorite for many of this year's summer visitors.

Meet the Business Owner: Dave and Karie P.

Karie and Dave are two of the three owners of the Pocketstone Cafe. Karie is the General Manager and is responsible for ensuring that the food, service, and general environment are top notch. Dave is responsible for periodically sampling the food and reminding Karie that regardless of how good the food and service may be, there's always something that can be improved.

What GB has going for it, is that there aren't a lot of options in town. Last week we went in before hitting up Harvest Foods, saw that there were just three tables of people and thought, ok, let's give it a shot, surely we won't have to wait TOO long. We were short on time so we ordered two Avocados toasts, one with bacon. That's it. With only three other tables in the house, it took 30 minutes. As we sat there, about 6 more tables came in. With ONE waitress. With also whom I can presume is the owner as I've seen her time and time again, also bringing out food, there was absolutely no hussle. Listen, I worked in food service for a decade. When I worked, I moved. People were waiting to have their order taken. The bell would ring that food was ready and it would sit there. The owner surely could have been taking orders too. Heck, you could even give the tips to the waitress! Maybe there is a worker shortage in Big Fork, I don't know. But girl (owner), you gotta be hustlin' to make up for it. And no offense to the waitress but girl, you too. Or hire a busser, someone to bring out food and cleanup, ring people up. In any case, it's always this way. We hadn't been in a few years and gave it a shot again. As we were walking out, I said "well that wasn't THAT bad", as in having to wait that long for food and watching people just sit there in silence wait for the waitress and then their food is a good thing. Also, not to be petty, but as a deadhead, I take a minor offense to you using the name and not being vibin'.

The Centennial proves to be a refreshing one for me the few times I have had it and firs the bill quite well for that occasional IPA hankering I've been having. Flavor highlights in this beer are hoppy, malty, floral and sweet (naturally sweet tasting). It's a very well balanced IPA with these features. The beer is also smooth in body. I look forward to returning as Steve and I are bound to pass through the area again but more for the purpose of sightseeing on that trip.
