Brides and grooms - look elsewhere for guest accommodation! This is a 2 star motel with access to rooms from the outside only, a lack of basic amenities and no elevators. - Overpriced. We were charged $300/night (far more than the posted online price) and in no way aligned with the amenities and cleanliness of the place - Poor wayfinding. Lack of signage e.g. to lobby - Uncomfortable- Hard bed and thin pillows - Loud- thin walls and next to a highway/road noise all night long - No cribs/playpens/places for babies to sleep. We called ahead requesting a crib. They asked us to call again the morning of. When we did, we were told they had absolutely no place for our baby to safely sleep. - unsafe: have to walk into the street from the lobby to access rooms, unsavory guests partying by the parking lot late into the night - Poor customer service - Parking lot is small with limited spots and tight- see photo We were traveling from out of town to a wedding and were all part of the wedding party. We seriously considered finding alternative accommodation due to the issues above. The wedding day ended up being too busy for us to find time to move. Don't make the same mistake we did- find another place to stay especially if you have little ones. read more

We stayed there last weekend, pictures online were not a true representation. Very dated and somewhat run down. Too much money for what was provided. I would make other arrangements if travelling there again. Restaurant had excellent food. read more

I had a good stay here at the Poco Inn and Suites. The staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable. The location from where the hotel is to my courses were nice and nearby so that was great. Definitely would come back again if I have to be in the area. read more

Really clean room, lots of free toiletries but horrible customer services. I was called the day before arrival and notified that they had done a pre-auth on my credit card (which was declined) so they cancelled my reservation and sold my room to another party. Ummm, say what??? At the time of booking I was told that they only needed a credit card to secure the reservation and nothing would be charged until time of check-out. Nonetheless, after arguing with the front desk staff, they were able to locate another room for us and everything worked out. We had a quick bite to eat at the Izba Bistro located at the hotel. I wouldn't recommend it. The waitress seemed to hate her job....and us. Would I recommend this hotel? Not likely, unless you're a glutton for punishment :) read more

I have stayed here 2 times and after my 2nd stay, I felt compelled to write this review: The good: Staff is professional and friendly. The rooms are generally clean, but on the sparse and lean side. Overall a decent hotel. The bad: The internet connectivity is horrific. Its wireless and spotty - and goes down to the point it does not work. It was bad the first time I stayed there in late 2008, and then in mid 2009, it was even worse. When calling the front desk they said they have never had any problem with it - yet my colleagues had the same issue and having talked with others that stayed there they say the same thing. If you are someone that needs internet access in your hotel room - do not stay here. read more

Was here a couple of weeks ago for a Mary Kay Director's Debut and it did it's job. The staff were friendly and the room was spacious. The down side was that the parking was VERY limited and the lobby was under construction and not really there. I am sure once it is completed it will look good. As for the rooms, I am not sure as I had no need to stay there. read more

Well it's not a dive but it could use some new paint and the bar sink was really disgusting. I guess the bright side is that I'm pretty sure they gave away our room so we were bumped up to an executive suite which qas very spacious and a great over all stay. One down fall is if you stay on the far sie you are quite the walk to the bar (which is o.k. at it's best) all in all the staff is friendly however their Jacuzzi tubs jets are in definite need of maintenance as well as their bar sinks need some sprucing up. read more

Stayed in PoCo Inn for my company's golf tournament which was held at Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club. Hotel provided the shuttle to and from the golf course which was very convenient. Upgraded to a suite and it was very spacious, like a little apartment. The bed was very comfortable. Service is courteous. Ample parking and at no charge. Would not hesitate to stay there again. read more

My husband and I stayed here lastnight and ... It was gross and old and smelly , they renovated the outside so it looks really good but once you see they rooms you'll change your mind , at this exact moment we have checked out of the poco inn and are on our way to the ramada hotel ( which is 40$ cheaper per night and big clean beautiful rooms ) so the moral of my story - poco inn is gross ! read more

The review I wrote documenting my bad experience at this hotel didn't make the "recommended" list. You can find it hidden below the ones that did. My bank has disputed the Hotel's bogus $300 charge for a "missing" blanket that I never saw. Mastercard doesn't permit charges added on to customer's bills when they can't be documented. And when contacted, the hotel couldn't provide documentation. Thankfully, my bank is looking out for innocent victims. If you risk staying here, you should make sure to do a walk through and have someone sign a statement. But best advice is to drive a few miles and avoid the hassle. read more

All the rooms here have been remodeled and now have a fridge n microwave flat screen TVs the wireless is amazing the staff is super friendly I will be staying here more often this has been one of the better hotels I've stayed in this area :) read more

If you are going to Port Coquitlam for work and you expect a good night of sleep to be fresh and awake at work the following morning, avoid the Poco Inn and Suites. They host banquet with very little noise insulation between the banquet hall and the hotel rooms. They have very loud music playing until 1 am, making it impossible to fall asleep. read more

Cozy and cute inn.Didnt have any problems booking through Expedia.com.Heater takes a while to warm up the room but when it does,it maintains the temp.Room had a humidity meter as well,took some getting used but it all worked out.Bathroom is smaller than most hotels...but hey,it's an inn.Room came with its own microwave,coffee maker,fridge, and slippers.Not too shabby of a place. read more

Last weekend I was one of many wedding attendees who stayed at the Poco Inn & Suites for a wedding that was being held at Camp Howdy. The room was actually quite nice, and was an upgrade from the ones we booked because the hotel was quite full. That was the only positive thing I could really say though. As part of the wedding package, shuttles were organised (and paid for) to ferry wedding guests to Camp Howdy. Despite having our names and room numbers on the list for the 1:45pm shuttle to take us to the wedding site (cocktails started at 2pm), the shuttle left at 1:25pm without us. Other guests had been rung to advise of the time change, but not myself and another guest. The worst of it is, and this would become a pattern, the fibs we were told. "The bride rang and changed the time." was a corker, considering this wedding involved 2 grooms and no bride. The hotel then drove the two of us out to the site, however this made us quite late for the start. Things only got worse though. The 10pm and midnight return shuttles became a sometime-after-11 shuttle and the midnight shuttle didn't happen at all, stranding a bunch of us at the site without transport and any prior warning. Children and elderly guests sat outside waiting for the 10pm one in the chilly air, and some even made alternate arrangements. When we discovered around 1am that the hotel had no intention of sending any other shuttle, after a phone call from one of the grooms who ended up literally screaming at them down the phone, we also had to try and make other arrangements. No taxi would come to the remote site, so four of us ended up getting a lift with one of the bartender's boyfriends who kindly got out of bed to drive us. In the morning when I was checking out more fibs started, about having made arrangements for taxis, it being pre arranged with the 'bride' etc etc. I received a 20% discount on my room rate but it was poor compensation for the what came close to ruining a wonderful wedding. The hotel looked nice from the outside and I drive by everyday as I live in the area. However I am disappointed. I booked a 3 night stay here as I was moving and had just finished packing my place up. I booked the room days in advance online. The hotel charged my card for $179 "to see if the card worked" when I booked. I read online that the card would just be for the deposit as it is in most other hotels. When I went to check in the staff made a comment that my drivers license being in my married name and not the name I had put on the website even though I explained this to them when I arrived. They said they will have to take a photo copy of my card. She took my credit card and told me it was declined. When I asked how much she tried to put on there she told me $800 and said it was policy for a 3 night stay or something along those lines but they had already charged my card. I am a frequent traveller and never have I had to pay this much for one person in a basic room for 3 nights before I've even stayed. If I have had to pay ahead of time it's usually just a smaller deposit to hold the room. I understood it was their policy and I needed a place to stay though so I scrambled to find someone in my family to help me pay for the exorbitant room fee / deposit on their card. I've 3rd party auth before many times done before in other major and small hotels around the province when necessary. After I'd found someone who could help I spoke to the staff again and asked if there was a credit card authorization form or some other way this person could help me pay for the room since I wasn't expecting the high deposit. I was flat out told no. I asked if I could pay a cash deposit and was told no. I wish I had of been told of their huge deposit before hand. I wouldn't have tried to book a room here in the first place. Needless to say I told them I would try to find another place to stay and within minutes found an even nicer hotel in the area. I was given a beautiful room and upgraded as well where there was no issue to book and I only needed a $100 deposit. I even explained I had a problem with my card being charged earlier and that I may need someone else to book the room for me. It was no problem at all to do through a 3rd party and the customer service was much friendlier and accommodating. read more

My fiancée and I went to Poco Inn and Suites on September 22nd/2015. We decided to jump on the ferry from Nanaimo to Vancouver that night. Unbeknownst to us there was an AC/DC concert happening and hotel rooms were hard to find. Luckily, we found vacancy in Port Coquitlam. Getting the keys to the room was a breeze, even as late as it was after the 7pm ferry from Vancouver Island due to a cancellation. Unfortunately, when we got in the room we found it to be unsanitary with blood in multiple areas. Blood was on the floor, the shower curtain, the toilet, the wall, and the tub edge. Due to the uncleanliness of the bathroom we investigated the rest of the room and found that the bed looked as if it had been slept in versus properly cleaned and turned over for new guests to enjoy. As well, an easy indication that the room wasn't cleaned was the fact that every mirror had spots/smudges/finger prints on them. When we contacted the manager he came to investigate and still didn't believe that the bed wasn't turned over and wasn't taking any responsibility for it. Moreover, he didn't apologize for the disgustingly unsanitary state of the rest of the room. At that point we just wanted to leave and he only offered to not charge us for the room. Due to the time of day (close to midnight now), and the overpriced/limited number of hotels around we ended up sleeping in the truck. Even to this day, Poco Inn and Suites hasn't apologized for the poor accommodation and through various means they even failed at attempting to gain valuable information from us, their guests. Rather, not once but twice they deflected the criticism and accused us of changing our story and making up profile names. My fiancée was misinformed and wrote that there was a Bon Jovi concert going on when we visited September 22nd when it was an AC/DC concert. Either way, Poco Inn and Suites keeps saying we changed our story from being there in August to September when we have never stated we were there in August. I am hoping this isn't a common theme with this Hotel but in my experience they seem to blame or find excuses when criticized. It is unfortunate that it came to this because I very rarely, if ever, post reviews yet, here I am. The reason is due to the above and the failure of Poco Inn and Suites to take accountability for their actions or in this case, inactions. It would be nice for this company to be professional and proactive in order to solve this problem and other problems that may happen in the future (at the rate they are going with our incident, this won't be the last issue). FYI: If anyone including management feels this post "doesn't make any sense" please refer to the following info as per our receipt from that night: Arrival 09/22/2015 Departed 09/22/2015 Room #207 Invoice #279270 If I were in their shoes I would have expressed concern over how serious the room's state was and how the situation was dealt with. I would have apologized profusely right from the start while the customer was still in Port Coquitlam, BC and offered up alternatives. Those alternatives could have included searching and paying for a hotel room at another hotel since the bloody room was the only vacant one available at this location. Moreover, I would have considered the customers other means of criticism on other sites to to be legitimate until proven otherwise. Lastly, I would have done everything in my power to resolve the issue with the simple information stated above (ex. Room #, invoice #, arrival date and departure date) regardless of the reason for the customer being in town (ex. Concert, hockey, family etc.). Of course, this information was readily available upon request not once but twice if the proper questions and requests were ever made. Update: we tried contacting Poco Inn and Suites the other day with no resolution with regard to their deflection and blaming/inferring that we, the customers, changed our names, and that we made up a room number and invoice number even though their "same" invoice number exists. Their response was that their manager at the time did apologize but the person on the phone also stated he didn't know who the manager was at the time of the incident. Hence, if you don't know who the manager was, how do you specifically know that they apologized? Again, Poco Inn and Suites seems to have a pattern with regard to responding to criticism by deflecting and implying that the customer is lying about their experience (ex. making up false names, false invoice or room numbers, false dates, false concerts etc.). Due to the lack of accountability and accusations we hope to tell as many people as we can to steer clear of this hotel. This is not a good way to run a business in our opinion. EEEK, talk about putting lipstick on a pig! The is an OLD motel with a new facade. Looks nice on the outside, and they CLAIM it has been completely updated, but painting over old wallpaper, and putting a new tub surround and counters in.. not good enough for $120/nite! Old hollow core doors, sink fixtures are taped on with CELLOPHANE tape (YES, that's right, what you use to tape wrapping paper!) Shower head was at shoulder height for a person only 5'7". Room smelled slightly like mold... and parking is VERY limited. Restuarant was marginal and staff there RUDE. The hotel checkin people and maids were very nice! FYI hotel is RIGHT next to a BUSY, LOUD Main road and tghere is a railyard across the road that will keep you up all night long banging rail cars together... better off staying somewhere else!!! read more
