We're moving an elderly relative from the East Coast to Seattle area and decided to use PODs to move their stuff cross country so they could pack the pod slowly. It has been a nightmare experience from end to end. The physical pieces involved on dropping off and picking up were okay, the billing and service were unbelievably bad. We agreed to a contract amount which was inexplicably jacked up $3000 just before transport. Even the customer service people were mystified why it happened. It went through 2 conflict resolution disputes before they admitted the charge was in error and finally removed it from our credit card. It took hours on the phone with multiple customer reps. It took hours to get a live person on the phone every time. Then as a coup de grace, PODs delayed picking up the empty container by a day, which triggered another monthly rental charge of $300, which they decided to charge us for their error. Do NOT recommend, a nightmare of poor customer service read more

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of commitment to honor what the PODS company says they will do for you. They canceled my PODS container order within hours of the delivery time and their solution was to schedule a PODS container to be delivery a month later. I explained I had movers and a floor replacement service all lined up to start the day the PODS container was going to be delivered so canceling on me with just a few hours notice was unacceptable. When I asked about options for a smaller container (note, I had to ask) I was told one could be delivered a few days later. I explained this was not okay and I now have to reschedule my movers and floor company. I was told there would be a price adjustment beyond the difference in price for the smaller container and at the end PODS didn't follow through with their promise again as there was no price adjustment. Using the PODS storage container cost me way more than it ever should have. Horrible customer service just horrible. Side note, PODS always responds to "contact them" so they can help resolve any issues. I have done this several times and nothing changes. read more

Never ever will I use POdS again. I assumed how could it go wrong but it did. We have a tough driveway and I asked them about that. They checked on google earth and said it would be fine. Guy showed up and said no way he could get it down so he left it at the top. This did not work at all for us so we asked them to remove it. That was a total hassle but after talking to customer service they came and picked up on the Saturday. We were told by that same agent that we would not be charged as we never used it. We were charged full amount. I called and they said they would look into it. Well a month later they are refunding everything except $100....I give up and will swallow the $100 but will never recommend POdS again!!! Did I mention they drove over our lawn and wrecked plants. Sadly, this location near Seattle, WA. and PODs in general as a service fell far below expectations. The unit was not delivered in the 3 hour appointment window, then when contacting their customer service I was told to 'just wait for the driver to call when they are on their way'. I asked when would that be and they said they didn't know. Then I was told that the appointment window was only an estimate and that they were free to change ETAs at any time. I asked for a supervisor to speak with about my experience and was told, they don't have one. No accountability and no way to remedy. In hindsight, I wish I would have selected another storage solution. Buyer beware. I will update when and if my container ever arrives. Update: The Driver called and they should be arriving 2 hours outside of our original window. I suspect these issues are scheduling and not the drivers fault as I would have appreciated someone calling me to manage expectations than my having to track down why they were delayed. read more

This has been one of the worst experiences moving so far. We have called and reserved for our pod to be available on 2 separate occasions, and both times it was "unavailable" upon our arrival. We have wasted hundreds of dollars and countless hours renting trailers and packing it full just to show up to the Pod location and be told they don't have our Pod available for that day even with a reservation. When they were able to help us, they pulled the wrong Pod out and couldn't find the one with our belongings. *** to add to this!! We called on Monday 7/25 to schedule our POD to move out of state, and today noticed our card hadn't been charged. Well, they didn't include our container number and so it hasn't been shipped yet and it needs to be at our location by next week. Horrible service. read more

0 stars!!! This company was a joke. They did not work with us at all except to drop off the containers to load to start billing us. They did not deliver to our house and ended up paying movers to go to the storage facility and bring it to our home. We offered more money to deliver to our house which was maybe two blocks from where they did deliver and they not got back to us. They ended up closing our account even though we still had one pod with them which was to be transported to our new location. A phone call with them typically takes at least a half hour to get something simple completed. There were no instructions on what to do when you arrive at the storage facility and had to call to figure out why my pods weren't out. Ended up waiting with the movers, paid hourly, for almost two hours for the second pod as they missed getting that one out. read more

Unconscionable. Arranged for 2 16' PODS. Have a driveway that is 60' x 40'. PODs said they needed 12' x 10' space for the placement of the units. When the driver arrived with the first unit he said that there was not suitable room for him to place the POD where I wanted it and stated that the drop spot was at his discretion. He wanted to place it where it would block emergency access to the house if necessary or leave it on the street. I told him that that would not work and he could move it to a spot more conducive to filling the unit and he said he places them "where I want to, not where you want me to." I told him to return it to their site. I contacted customer service to insure that they saved a trip on the second POD. They were rude, condescending, and defensive of the driver before I could explain the situation. Could have been an easy fix, even two separate delivery and pickup/pick-up dates but there was no interest on their part to remedy the situation. Cancelled entire order. It was a move to Texas from Tacoma. All said with storage in Texas for a couple months about $10K. Who would leave 10K because of a driver and unwillingness to address a customers needs? read more

We ordered a POD about 1.5 months ago. The very first month of our billing, they not only charged me for my pod ($346), they also randomly and erroneously charged me an additional $377. I called and it took them 10 minutes to research it and agree that the charge was erroneous. They claimed it was a glitch in the system and would have been refunded regardless but that they would issue a refund. That was 19 days ago. I still have not received the refund. I called today and they said that the refund was submitted to the refund review team but it was denied. The customer service rep said "yes, you're right, there is no basis for this charge," and said he would resubmit it to the "refund review team." Meanwhile my Heloc loan charge is going to overdraft my bank account today, and I have no money to buy my kids presents for Christmas-- literally! They just stole almost $400 from me at Christmas time with no explanation and are apparently incapable of processing a refund. I'm going to have to put christmas presents on a credit card. WORST SERVICE EVER My POD was delivered 23 hours late. The driver promised me a $150 refund (which was given to me, miraculously). The local office called me a few days later, and said the deliver fee would be waived. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I called PODS who insisted that this was done (it hadn't). I called my bank and they were able to reverse this charge. Finally I thought I was done with them! NOPE. They called, stating I'd owed this fee!!! WTH! I talked to billing who said they would take care of the issue and the matter is to be considered settled. NOPE AGAIN. I was called today, and threatened with being taken to collections for non payment of the delivery fee. Despite being told this would be waived. I gave up. You win PODS. I'm just going to pay the so called "waived" fee so I can rid myself of these crooks. I implore anyone who is considering pods to RUN away as fast as you can. DO NOT USE this company. Trying to work with customer service is impossible. The wait time is a good 20 minutes, always. And the staff? I've never dealt with a more unprofessional staff of employees. Rude, unreasonable, unprofessional, and just not helpful at all. There are so many other companies who will treat you better and deliver as promised. After renting three16-foot pods for almost a year, we finally broke down and just purchased a 40-ft shipping container. We actually could've bought three of them for the cost of renting those three pods! We needed to put our new container in the exact same spot as the Pods containers so we called to schedule Pods to come and relocate all three containers temporarily. We were given a date of Thursday so we went ahead and contacted the shipping container company to arrange for delivery on Friday. Then I called to arrange for for movers to come out on Saturday and Sunday to get everything transferred over at $20 an hour per person. Everything was fine until, last night, I get a message from pods saying that, "sorry about the mistake but we actually don't deliver to your area on Thursdays. so the soonest we will be able to get out to you is Monday". Flabbergasted, I called back to the company to explain the situation expecting them to make some kind of extra effort to get it done since that's the day they promised me and so much was riding on it. Nope! I was essentially told, "sorry about that. Nothing we can do!" They acknowledge that it was their dispatch center that it made the error but refused to take any measures whatsoever to make it right. Now I have to reconfigure my whole plan to try to accommodate the situation. This is especially problematic because Pods put the units down backwards to begin with so the doors are facing a fence instead of my driveway! So now I have to try to unload three pods worth of household goods including an upright piano through a 6 foot overgrown path! Trust me. If you need this kind of thing done. Just buy a shipping container. You can have them moved just the same and you own it so you won't have to pay a monthly rental fee. Pods may work for a site to site move but even that I wouldn't recommend if your dates are not flexible. Update-after writing several reviews just like this, pods actually got a hold of me and corrected the situation by sending someone out this morning. I'm super thankful but it would have been nice if they could've just fixed it for me when I called instead of forcing me to write bad reviews to get results. read more

My family and I relocated from SC to WA. First, they gave us a quote and date they would drop off and then pick up. A day before it was supposed to come, they sent 2 emails. One confirming what we thought then another for a pick up date two days later. We tried to call..no answer ( as usual). So we had to wait. My husband lost 2 days of work and did not start his job when he was supposed to. We provided them with the shipping address and thought they were going to ship it. Online it showed a completely different city. Tried to call...no answer. Finally got a hold of someone 7 days after they picked it up in SC (6/22). It had not shipped yet and we now have to wait until July 10th to get our things. We had no idea it would take this long. No one really explained the process. We had to spend money to buy things we need because we pretty much have nothing and lost money due toy husband's work. We also had to rent a 5x8 uhaul to tow so we could have some important things, but we have a family of 5! This was another cost plus extra wear and tear on our car. We filed a complaint, but they will not return our calls. In fact I am hold with them now for over 40 minutes and counting. Do not use PODS...its the worst experience. Use another company..even if it costs more. This will end of costing you more anyway. read more

I've had a POD scheduled for delivery for over two months now and have been planning my trip half way across the country to my next military assignment. I gave myself two days to pack the POD and another day as a buffer in case something went wrong. I never thought the thing that would go wrong would be that a POD would never get delivered. I've reach out to customer service eight (8!) times to try to get any update with absolutely no success. I've been hung up on while on hold, told I'd be called back and never was multiple times, and am still without any POD two days before my house is to be closed on and have to vacate the property regardless. The last thing anyone wants to deal with when they are going through a stressful move is problems with the moving company. I am lucky that I don't have any kids (besides my two dogs) or else I can't imagine what I would do. I have talked with two managers and neither one can get ahold of anyone in the Seattle area to tell them what is going on. It blows me away that in 2018 with all the technology available to people that someone can't find out where or when a POD will be delivered. I am now having to rent a U-Haul truck and load it in an eight hour window, pay a friend to help me drive it 1200 miles, and change hotel and travel arrangements. read more

Worst moving experience ever. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand, since every review of this place talks about how it sucks. Our POD was supposed to be delivered on Friday. They called and said they would be late but that we didn't need to be there for it to be dropped off. We were downstairs in the basement for most of the day. It never came, and by calling the call center (since the driver would never answer), we learned that the driver had stopped by, seen that our neighbor had a POD in their driveway, and decided to not drop ours off, because the driver (and the manager) thought it was a mistake. Like, what? We both took off work to be there to unpack that day. They said it would come on Saturday, so we waited. We ended up spending hours on the phone with the call center to figure out why it hadn't come and it was already hours after the window given. We had not heard at all from the driver this time. We found out that again, the driver had stopped by, and decided not to drop our POD off AGAIN. They said it was something about how the space we had reserved (our two car open driveway) was not good enough, ignoring the fact that we live on a private road with PLENTY of space to put the POD anywhere else near to the home. We ended up driving to the local storage facility in Des Moines, WA because they would not pick up the phone for hours, and as we pulled up, two employees who were sitting in the front of the store, saw us, got up, and bolted. We saw one of them literally running away from us. HIGHLY AVOID this place. I agree with what others have said, save yourself the grief, stress, and money. We ended up having to hire movers to go with us to the storage facility on Tuesday to unload our stuff. It's so deeply ironic because in the storage facility there are all of these posters that talk about being great in customer satisfaction. And, that was just not my experience at all. read more

Dealing with PODS corporate has been great, they have been professional and courteous on the phone, and scheduling and communication has been excellent. However, the local Seattle area PODS has really complicated the moving process. We arranged for our pod to be delivered on Friday and picked up Saturday. The apartment complex we moved in to was reluctant to allow us to have a pod because they have had trouble in the past, but we convinced them that it would only be here for 24 hours. A new neighbor was nice enough to allow us to have his parking spot as well as ours as he was going to be gone for the weekend anyway. We paid to have movers come unload the pod on Friday so that we could guarantee that it would be empty Saturday morning and get off the property and out of the way of the other residents. We got the phone call Friday night that the pod would be picked up between 9:45 am and 12:45 pm Saturday, and assumed that all was well. It is now Monday morning, and the pod is still here! When I called PODS main number on Saturday, they were unable to contact PODS of Seattle or the truck driver either by phone or email, and that is the last we have heard from them. We tried again yesterday, but the Seattle location is not open on Sundays. We are now facing a fine for having the pod here for two extra days, we paid $400 for movers that we really couldn't afford and would not have needed had we known that we would have the entire weekend to empty the pod, we paid $200 to PODS to have our pod redelivered and picked up again and they did not complete the second part of that as scheduled and confirmed, and we are off to a terrible start in a new multi-family living situation by causing major inconvenience for our new neighbors. read more

The PODS system is a great concept. We are moving out of state and wanted to take some clutter out of our house in order to list it for sale, then move our furniture and other stuff after we sold house. You rent as many pods as you need whether they are sitting in your driveway or in their storage, so it seemed easy. We could load the first pod ourselves, then hire movers for the furniture. They will also ship the pods to the driveway of your next house where ever it is. When we contacted the national company, the service was great. The problem is the local PODS company. When we had our pod delivered, the roofers still had a dumpster in the driveway where we wanted the pod to go. The pod guy said no problem, he would put it in the street and they could move it later, just call. Great! Unfortunately, when I called, there was a 2 week wait for them to come back out to move it, and it costs $130, which the driver didn't mention. We couldn't load the pod due to our steep driveway during this time while we were waiting for them to come back out, which delayed our whole move. They came and moved it. Then, when we filled the pod, I called for pick up, and there was more than a 2 week delay to remove it! I couldn't list the house while the pod was blocking the driveway. So, the PODS delayed listing the house for sale during the prime summer months for over a month! I really wanted to like this company because I like the concept, but I would not recommend them if you are on any sort of time schedule. read more

Stay away from PODS moving company ‼‼ I closed a date with this company on when they would deliver their pod container. it had to be a very exact date and time because my family and I were flying out the next day. When the driver arrived he called me and told me he would not be dropping the pod in the designated spots I had arranged per his manager telling him not to. I am a disabled veteran, I had my handicap spot plus the spot next to it reserved and even had a letter written from the apartment complex stating such. they still refused to drop the pod which made me upset because when I ordered the pod I told them where it would be and they said that it would not be an issue. afterwards I call their customer service and they give me "their sorry" speech and tell me that they will not be delivering it until after the weekend (after we've already left the state) because the manager in the Seattle area didn't like that I got upset with his driver. Like some guy I've never met who doesn't know the situation is trying to punish me. he won't even answer the phone at the Seattle location to speak with me. I then request a refund, they tell me it takes 3-5 business days. I call on day 5 because it still hasn't arrived and find out they still had not sent the refund. $3,000 that my family needed for a cross country move and they just forgot to return the money. it took another 3 days for a total of 8 days to get the refund. This company put so much unneeded stress on my family that I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. EVER! read more

My cousin moved from Florida using a POD. She said in Florida they called ahead when they arrived to deliver the POD and when they'd pick up. They were great! Fast forward to her getting here. The Seattle part if this company. Unfortunately the great customer service didn't extend to here. No calling ahead, and when she did get her time window, after calling several times for delivery and pick up...they were late! 2 hours late for pick up! It was 8 PM by the time they picked up and her POD had to be picked up or the storage unit would have charged her $100 for the POD. Our delivery date is over a week and a half later than we were initially told. I called to schedule the pick up of the POD, they can't pick up our container in a timely manner and now I will be charged for another months rent. Last July, we used PODS to move our furniture from a house in Bellevue to a condominium in Issaquah. On July 17th, I got a call that our container got dropped down about 8 feet at PODS Des Moines warehouse. It landed on a short side, and then was rolled over onto its roof. As a result, most of the content got destroyed, including one living room furniture. PODS refused to reimburse us at the replacement value, so we ended up using our homeowners insurance to cover it. We then requested PODS to reimburse us for the additional cost which they agreed to do providing that we sign a release form, which would preclude our insurance company from collecting their money. That was not right, so we decided to seek remedy through the small claims court option. read more

When I called to have them delivered I found out the delivery address had been accidentally put in as my original address, then only to find out they do not deliver to my new address. A request the extend the delivery service to 4.6 miles beyond where I have to have it delivered was denied. Now I have to hire services to move myself. Absolute worst company to do anything with. We moved from north eastern Ohio to Tacoma Washington state. Personally this is my 14th move in my life. My POD was picked up from my house on May 18th. They bumped our arrival date back two separate times. It is now June 13th and still no stuff. Everyone I've ever talked to has been rude and have zero customer service skills. The price is outrageous and they refused to compensate us for anything. We had two pods one big and one small the company is ungodly disorganized. I'm quite frankly not sure how you all are in business for real. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND using pods for any type of moving even if it's around the corner in your local neighborhood. I have also made it a point to tell everyone I know how terrible the service was. Everything is company policy or this or that. I called PODS to modify the storage location of our POD as well as to request for the military discount that I saw after I had already agreed to the contract. I just got off the phone with a rude, unprofessional male Customer Care specialist 5 minutes ago who 1) was very inpatient when I asked him to clarify and break down the change in fees for my contract because it wasn't clear to me when he explained it and then 2) when I asked if I can still get the military discount he brushed me off saying its too late since my contract is almost over anyways and then 3) hung up on me!! read more

I would give it zero stars if possible. I would NOT depend on them. My story. I schedule a POD to be delivered on Thursday. On line, they gave me the option of where I should have them place it. I selected my front yard and how to place it on the front yard. They provided me with a window of 9:30-12:30. I took off work to be present to answer questions. They didn't show up. They called me at 2pm and then when I stated that I couldn't be present and where to put it in the front yard. The delivery person said, they don't put it in the yard and he doesn't know why they allow that option. So he said no delivery. So now I have no POD, I took off work today and then tomorrow to help load the POD; hired people to load the POD and will have to cancel them. 0 stars! Do not use. Scheduled a pod to be delivered, confirmed the amount of space that was required to drop off the POD. The next day the driver was an 1.5 hours late (after the three hour window that was provided) and then refused to drop off the pod when we showed him the two options that we had for space (both within the specifications that we were told we needed). It was clear the driver did not want to maneuver at all because he was late and anything less than an entire city block was going to be rejected. I called customer service immediately and was told, I'd have to just wait and see until the manager comes back in two days later. I am now going to have to pay last minute movers, to retrieve my things because the PODS refuse to honor their agreement. And I'm out a bed and any furniture for the foreseeable future. UNREAL. As I spent the day helping a neighbor move, I noticed a POD mover working on a container up the street. After 5 hours I couldn't help but notice this guy hadn't filled any of it. But once 4:30 hit, choices were made. My man dropped the sheers and was throwing 10 ft. branches into this POD with no remorse. We are having a horrible experience with Pods in Burien. When we moved they never showed up till the next morning. We set up delivery and pick up of the pods. Well again they don't show up to pick them up. We try to call and no answer leave 5 messages and no return call or answer. Never would use them again. Horrible business. If I could give a 0 I would. We paid to have door to door delivery of a POD. The company knew our delivery address months in advance, we discussed the location and when the time came for delivery the driver "at his discretion" refused to deliver saying our driveway was too steep (not, the people moving out had a full sized moving truck and we had a large auto transport negotiate the drive without a problem). The move ended up costing us twice as much as we had to purchase a use permit to have the POD delivered to a major city street and then had to hire movers to unload the POD into another truck and deliver to our home. We ended up getting our belongings two weeks later than planned with major headaches. read more

PODS IS A NIGHTMARE SO FAR! Our relocation destination changed due to a job not happening due to COVID, so we decided to relocate near family on the Olympic Peninsula - and surprise - PODS won't deliver to the Olympic Peninsula - so now we have 7 PODS (12 if I don't cancel the 5 that are supposed to arrive next week to finish packing up our house in California) that I can't get delivered to our new house. It's impossible to talk with anyone - you're on hold for 45 minutes to talk with anyone and then the call gets dropped and they don't call you back. I don't see why they can't drive the PODS up from Olympia over the ground, not water and deliver the PODS - we're willing to pay extra. This is absurd and horrible customer service that they don't even try to work something out. What a stressful mess this experience was while trying to close on a house and move at the same time. Pods was terrible. I received an email saying the pod wouldn't arrive on its due date. I was mad because we took days off work to move so I called and while I was on the phone, my Pod actually arrived. Why I got the email saying it wouldn't, is still a mystery. Nice to have my Pod but then just as they placed it, another one arrives for us. We ordered one, the largest. I called the company and explained that we didn't order that second Pod. They canceled the order but canceled the one that arrived and was placed and NOT the second one. As a result, my pickup date was also canceled but NO ONE TOLD ME. That was a problem as it was over July 4th weekend. Worse, I didn't hear from Pods the night before pickup so I called the morning it was meant to be collected. To my fury, I learned they'd canceled the pickup and worse, they said they couldn't get it for about ten more days! Kinda problematic when you're moving out of state and sold your house. Well my Seattle street permit ran out the day it was supposed to be picked up. I told them another ten days was out of the question and we were literally flying away for good on the morning it was supposed to be collected. So they agreed to make a long day for someone who would collect it three days later. I had to wing it and hope the city didn't cite me not to mention it really upset the new owners of the house as THEY needed to move in. It was ridiculous. As a result, I was charged twice about three or four times per order (they charge in increments) and I had to call several times to the headquarters where the employees were thoroughly confused by our order(s). Even the largest Pod isn't big enough for a 1200 sq ft. home. When they came to pick up the Pod in another state, they came on time and on the correct day. That was the only good part of the experience. The idea is good and the execution (at least in Seattle) is awful. The multiple charging is confusing too but I will say they gave us $100 for the inconvenience. We did appreciate that but it was such a mess, the cash wasn't incentive enough. Was moving my daughter to college in Seattle. Called the apartment complex months ahead of time to make sure a POD delivery was ok. Made the POD arrangements early. Pickup from a storage facility in TX was smooth. However, when it came time for Seattle...what a nightmare. I called the apartment complex AND PODS 3 days ahead of our arrival so that I could give explicit instructions to the POD delivery man and how to contact the apt mgt if needed. I explained that we would be flying to Seattle on the day of delivery, but they say "no problem" you don't need to be there. When I got my delivery window, it of course was during the time we would be flying. Called PODS again to let them know this and that if there were any issues, they should call the apt mgt. Was told that they are not allowed to contact anyone except the account holder. Explained I would been an airplane and not be reachable. They said "oh well". Sure enough, when we change planes in Phoenix, I have a message on my cell saying the POD could not be dropped off because they couldn't find a place to put it. As soon as we got to Seattle, I called the local office to reschedule. I left 3 messages with no one returning my call. I finally called the corporate number and they rescheduled us for 2 days later. When they came again, the POD was delivered, but unfortunately it was placed on the sidewalk of a street with street parking. So the morning of pickup, I went out to the curb at 6:30 am with traffic cones borrowed from the apartment mgt to try to block off space. Unfortunately, one car was already blocking the POD and the driver did not return before the POD driver arrived to pick it up and then gave up. As soon as that car left, we cleared the area with cones and called PODS saying the space was clear. They said they would not be able to return until 3 days later. The day before I left town I called again to explain that they needed to work with the apartment management to figure out how to get the POD removed since I was returning to TX. They refused. Said they would not call them, however if I gave the apartment mgt my account info, they would accept a call. So I gave all that to the apartment manager and begged them to initiate a conversation with PODS. The POD has now been sitting empty on a Seattle street for 6 days, I am back in TX, and I have no idea what is going on. Except I'm sure I'm going to have some extra $ to pay for this debacle. I accept some responsibility for this because I apparently did not do my homework enough to let the apartment mgt know how much clearance would be required. But it seems like PODS should provide a little more assistance to make sure the customer is fully informed so that situations such as this can be prevented. However, the PODS office has done practically nothing to try to work with me or the apartment mgt. I have no idea how this will get resolved, but I will never again use PODS in Seattle. read more
