Right on the Minong Flowage, you can dock your boat. Or drive your ATV. The food is great for being in Northern Wisconsin. The pizza is better than you can find in the Twin Cities. The place is usually packed and they are short staffed, expect to wait. The kitchen may close early, I recommend calling ahead to see what the wait time or if the kitchen is only serving certain items. A popular spot for night life. It's usually the place to go on the weekend. read more

Had the meatball sandwich. It came with two 1 pound meatballs. Could only eat one. Was very good. Jumbo shrimp cocktail was also good. We had a deep dish pizza wings and an Italian beef sandwich. All were also very good. Had an order of calamari not very good needed to have been in the fryer a bit longer very chewy. Was a nice evening and we were able to sit outside which is a rare treat. The fish fry was delicious! Two large pieces came on my plate along with a large baked potato with sour cream and butter. The salad bar was delicious, too, with a large variety of toppings including some of my favorites: shredded cheese, sliced, boiled egg, cucumber, broccoli, diced beets to name a few. Full disclosure - I love Pogo's. And I haven't always. For years I avoided this place. I won't say why, it isn't important. But this year I went back and I'll be honest. I was floored. Here's why: - For the Northwoods this food is fantastic! Good American-Italian, solid pizza, AWESOME meatballs (and huge), and great breads for their sandwhiches. - For the owner. Richie has come a long way. What a guy. Smiling, gracious, and thankful for those who offer him and his establishment the respect they deserve. He genuinely cares for his establishment and his patrons. - For the service. Again, for the Northwoods this is spot on. We were here TWICE over the 4th of July Weekend, and on both instances our service was prompt, proficient, and positive. Two different servers over those two visits, both great. - For the Price. Sure, for The Northwoods the price is probably 10-30% (depending on the item) higher than you'll see at the lowest places - but still better than the cities, and honestly for what you get I'll pay that every time. Pogo's is now my go-to place up here. As a local I have a lot of options - and I know the in's and out's of them. Pogo's will be top of my list as long as Richie keeps up his winning streak. read more

Didn't think being pro-Trump was a guarantee to experience racism but here we are. Bartender would not turn 45 degrees to serve me w a bar of 3 patrons (one being an off clocked employee) until each of the patrons stared at me as I was calmly waiting for several minutes. This was a simple refill from the soda gun. Earlier situation: went to dinner w family, ran out of pint glasses w bar less than half full, four 2 tops, and 3 ppl at our table using pint glassware. Did not find an alternative, but another drink would be dependent on finishing beer completely in order for server to get you another. Law or not (this establishment is not doing this for that purpose) wtf. Hey--if you don't think this is gross, wait for yourself. That's a microcosm of how it is, always there. And if you're happy the tactic and now you have a less likely chance running into any scary colors, I wish you the best. Colors aren't scary, people that find themselves reacting to them are. Food is below average (not the chicken tenders, those are fire); don't waste your time on the petri dish they call a salad bar unless you're looking for a sick day at work. read more

Pogo.....NOGO. Can't comment on the food because we didn't taste it. When we entered there's a sign that says wait to be seated. We waited 10 minutes and no one came. Asked a server if we could sit outside and she said no - we're not serving outside. People were sitting out there and eating. Inside were many empty tables but each table was a table for 4, we were a group of 6 and nasty server said we couldn't push tables together. She told us we didn't need to stay. Shame on the service. Nasty staff. Bad attitude. But from what I read, that's typical. read more

I have been there during the day with my kids. A very nice spot off the road and right on the water. Very kid friendly during the day with lots of games and space to have fun. Nice view of the water. You can drive your boat right up. We had the Kids burgers and fries. All of the food was really good. They also have a nice all you can eat salad bar for $10. Very fun country venue with free parking and an upbeat in the woods vibe. I will be back again! read more

I have a home nearby and have tried to patronize this place dozens of times. The food can be okay but the service and management is probably the worst I've experienced. The lack of organizational systems by the owner/management is pathetic. The wait staff tries their best but lack any leadership and help from the management. I'm not one to try and bash a place, especially while COVID still lingers, but I have to say something. We arrived at 7:07pm on a Thursday. We got a table but walked up to the bar for drinks. After our first round we still weren't greeted by a server. There were 4 tables around us that had been getting service, but wouldn't look at us. No big deal I thought, maybe the servers didn't know we were eating since we got drinks from the bar. I went back up to the bar to get another round and ask for menus. The bartender was wonderful (she is the only reason I didn't give 1 star) she said she would send a server over with menus. A server came over and dropped off menus and walked away without saying a word. Okay, maybe she is busy, no big deal. She returned to tables around us and made multiple comments to her co-workers "this sucks", "there are too many people here", and "I wish everyone would just leave". It is now 7:58pm, 51 minutes after arriving. We flagged the same server down that gave us menus 30 minutes earlier and asked to order. She snapped back "well what time is it" and we answer "7:58". She replies "well jeez guys you are cutting it close and shouldn't be doing this". 1. Had no idea the kitchen was closing 2. We have been here for almost an hour and you blew us off. She then messed up our orders (got 2 of 5 correct). She was a nightmare, rude, and I honestly hope she stubs her toe soon. Shoutout that awesome bartender though. read more

I've been to Pogo's over a dozen times in the past five years. The quality of the food is quite good, but not always prepared well. Our deep dish pizza was kind of warm in the middle and mouth-burning hot on the edge. Reheated, it was delicious. The service is nothing short of horrible. From top to bottom, just bad. The hand soap dispenser was empty. The bar area is ridiculously loud. The tables had dried food on them. It wasn't busy at all and we stood there for 5 minutes waiting to be seated. It seems that there's always something about this place. They might be banking on the fact that they are the only larger restaurant/bar in the area. Like I said, the food is quite good, but please train your cook how to use the oven, train your servers on the basics. Start at the beginning, like speaking in complete sentences. And try to remember, this ain't Chicago. If we wanted that unjustified pompous attitude crap, we'd go there. read more

6 of our family was seated and having a cocktail when we should up and we sat down with them at an 8 person table. There was a wait to be seated sign when we walked in but there was nobody to greet us so we sat with our family. 4 more family members showed up about 5 minutes later and did wait to be seated, hoping for the the empty table next to us but it was an 8 person table. While they were standing at the door, the owner was cleaning off another 8 person table (many empty tables in the bar at this time) and just ignored them. we motioned them over to sit next to us and the owner told them they had to wait and they could not sit 4 people at an 8 person table - THEY WERE WITH US! We said we would sit with them to make it 6 AND a baby. He got very rude and swore at one of them and said "I work here, I live here and I own this place, I will run it my way" Needless to say, we left and will not be returning. I would think they would want to accommodate the people in front of them instead of people that are not there. read more

I have been there for the last 3 Thursdays on wheelers and motorcycle. Food is excellent and drink at a fair price. Great staff and the owner Ritchie was friendly and entertaining all times. My family recently visited this establishment for a family reunion. Once receiving their food an hour and a half after ordering, the manager was called to the table. Upon discussing the issue, the manager, who just so happened to be the OWNER, told my family of PAYING CUSTOMERS that they were in the wrong for being impatient and continued to call my family extremely offensive names. DO NOT GO HERE. No person deserves business if they are going to treat customers this way. Especially a kind group of people who payed WAY TOO MUCH MONEY for crappy service. Sampled deep dish pizza and the pie could be right out of any good Chicago pizza shop. I think better even for deep dish crust I feel was better, sauce over the top in flavor and spices.
