This is a beautiful Victorian home and is decorated with that era in mind. We were on the third floor in a quaint room with a private bath and a balcony overlooking the common area. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had an electric fireplace for ambiance - such a nice touch. We were greeted by a very nice young man with enthusiasm and pleasantness. The morning gourmet breakfast was outstanding and served with fine china, gold tone flatware and linen napkins. This is a first-class bed and breakfast! I would definitely return and recommend to friends and family for a most enjoyable experience.

Layla was an absolute sweetheart who made us feel welcome the entire time we were there. The house is just gorgeous, and very well appointed in all the different spaces. Our bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had terrific water pressure. The TV had all the usual things, and the chairs were comfortable to sit on. You get an instant calming feeling just setting foot in the front door. Breakfast was magnificent and included a variety of different items that Layla served to us with beautiful presentation. I decided to get a hotel room instead of driving all the way to and from Grand Rapids. This Fairfield Inn had decent reviews on hotels.com and was reasonable at about $100/night. Katie at the front desk was very personable while checking me in and told me about the amenities in the hotel, including a gym, complimentary breakfast, and heated pool. I also saw a laundry room with coin operated machines. I had packed my swimsuit but didn't make it to the pool. I wish they had a hot tub! I got a double queen room on the second floor. The room was clean but it smelled kind of like leftover food at first. I don't really care about stuff like that, so it didn't bother me. The room across from me had some really loud music playing but I wear earplugs to sleep, so that also didn't bother me. But be aware that sounds can definitely carry through the walls. The room had USB outlets which actually worked, a microwave AND a mini fridge (which I feel is not standard these days at many hotels), and comfy beds. The breakfast options were plentiful including sausage, eggs, oatmeal and a whole topping bar, yogurt, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. I appreciated the early start time for breakfast as I had to leave around 7 am. Overall a basic modern hotel, not fancy, but not super run down. I'd stay here again if needed.

Basic, no frills, just what I needed for a one night, short stay.
