We made our way to Mt Pleasant for a concert (Foreigner, Loverboy). Yelp helped us find the Bird. The four of us had cheeseburgers with varying accoutrements. We all enjoyed them, all commenting on what seemed like special buns! I also had the jalapeño poppers - I'd get them again. The vibe is one you would expect from a college town - vibrant. Staff was short handed but made it all work - friendly and attentive. Drinks were as expected. What was unexpected was the bill.....GREAT VALUE for what they charge. We will be heading back when we find ourselves in mid-Michigan. read more

If you're looking for a "classic" bar experience, this is it. I went here to meet with an old professor of mine and the staff was polite, the room was engaging, and the food was okay, probably because lots of the focus goes into the drinking experience rather than the eating experience. read more

The food was awesome the service was very mediocre at best. The biggest part was the fact that they're short handed but the owner was sitting there hanging out , she had to go in and help in the kitchen , I waited over 25 minutes standing at bar while barmaid walked past me 6 times waiting on others that came up to order after I came up to pay my bill. This place would be cool if they could fully staff their bar but I feel for them this is only reason I give it a 3* ... My Mom & I were heading out of town and wanted to have a little lunch. Looked on Yelp, read about this place and had to try it. This is definitely a hidden gem. We had awesome & friendly service upon walking in. The server Laura was very helpful in guiding us with the menu. We shared the vegetable stuffed & baked sandwich which was amazing and an awesome burger. The bartender Brady was very friendly as well as giving us the story on the establishment dating back 90 years. He was an Absoulutly awesome bartender. I would recommend this bar & grill when visiting Mount Pleasant. Great location right on Main Street. read more

This was our second time visiting in a couple of months and while the food it really good, the wait staff is sub par. we waited an hour and a half the first time for our food (they were understaffed it seemed so no fault there I guess). but this last time was bananas. we were there OVER THREE hours waiting on our food. it wasn't a full house. our friends pizza got handed off to another party so they had to wait even longer. Our waitress was going to "be back in a couple minutes" but it took her 45 mins to come and take our order. Overall, it was a big mess and we won't be back. read more

My wife and I stopped there yesterday 9/1/22. We ordered the Nacho Grande it was $16.00. Turns out it was just okay, just had lettuce, 1/4 cup of beef burger, canned nacho cheese and very few tomatoes on tortilla chips. We didn't see any onions or black olives in the toppings. We were given a small cup of sour cream and salsa on the side. The place is okay, but I wouldn't say The Bird Bar & Grill is living up to the many favorable reviews. I don't really like to complain, but the food is just okay not great by any measure. read more

Great college town bar. Took our daughter and her friend to lunch around 1 pm on a Saturday. Very prompt service. Waitress was very friendly and fast. I had an olive burger, delicious. My wife and daughter loved their burgers also. One had a regular cheeseburger, the other had a bacon burger. Fries were good. We also had the moon bread as an appetizer. That was out of this world (no pun intended). We will definitely be back again when we are in town. read more

Stopped in after 1:00 for lunch . Light crowd, we seated ourselves and waited for service. 20 minutes later a waitress finally came to our booth and took our drink order. 15 minutes later we got our beverages and she took our order. 15 minutes later we got our burgers. My order was messed up so I sent it back for correction 15 minutes later I finally got my food. By this time we were the only people left in the place. several couples who came in right after us got up and left with out ordering due to the poor service. My burger was so slathered up in condiments I couldn't pick it up and only ate half of it. when the bill finally came it was wrong under charging us. read more

Wasn't expecting too much beyond basic bar food. I was wrong. I ordered a hot sub. It was more like a calzone. Sooo delicious, fresh and homemade. My friends ordered bacon cheeseburgers. Two words: Pizza. Sub. Huge portion... almost ginormous calzoneish. Got mine with sausage, pepperoni, bacon, black olives and an added mixture of cheddar in their house cheese blend. Holy cow... it defeated me! An added bonus... the chef in back personally came out and asked how I liked it. Why? Because my server/bartender told him it was my first time here. That's some amazing service... that won't be forgotten any time soon. Only one deficiency... a bartender with a man bun thought he was "cool" and decided to interject himself into a conversation about if a TV channel could be turned (just move three feet over and you'll see it). Bro, no one was talking to you. You damn near ruined my experience by that one interjection. Overall... I'm coming back here again. A dive bar vibe with great food and overall great service! read more

I spoke with the manager and he said to come back in two weeks and they will switch to the summer menu and that it contains his favorite pasta dish. We started talking about the Pasta Alla Norcinia and I told him my relatives are from Norcia Umbria and that I've made it several times. I told him I use Italian sausage and the manager said that the chef uses actual wild boar sausage. He said the chef has amazing connections for ingredients like this. They also have a full time pastry chef on staff and all their deserts are home made. I was informed that the chocolate ganache cake has had the longest run on the menu and never seems to come off so I tried that. It was delicious There are several items on the menu that I have to try. I took a few pictures of the Spring menu and I've added them below. In all our travels this was the worst bar and grill we have ever been in. The entire staff was grossly rude to us simply because we are Trump supporters and were trying to have a meeting with our team. This is obviously a very liberal establishment. Also the bathrooms were extremely stinky and dirty and we wondered if the bathroom is that dirty how the kitchen might be? We decided to leave and go to Applebees where we were welcomed with open arms and clean bathrooms. Do not go here if you support Trump as they only seem to want the business of like minded snowflakes... MAGA 2020!! read more

I have always enjoyed my experiences at the bird. I moved to the area this year and it's my go to bar. The bartenders are knowledgeable and efficient with drink orders. I would recommend trying the moon bread and hanging out at the bar. A huge plus if you sit up at the bar underneath are purse hooks. read more

Fun bartenders and fun crowd on week nights. Almost impossible to get a drink on busy nights unless you know someone who works there. Great beer specials but very weak mixed drinks. I always drink beer at the Bird and liquor at Marty's. read more

For dinner I ordered the steakhouse salad, medium rare. Nate got the Cajun chicken club sandwich and our friend got a crispy chicken wrap. The sandwiches and wraps come with either chips or fries, and our server told us that there's no up charge for fries, which is nice and not that typical. This is also a brewery so Nate tried a couple of their beers and seemed to like them. They also have a full bar. The food was quite tasty! I liked the salad although it was pretty salty, probably the bleu cheese dressing. There was a generous amount of steak and it was cooked nicely. I had a couple bites of Nate's sandwich and I thought it had great flavor. Overall this is a nice neighborhood spot that I'd come back to, since their menu is pretty large and it seems like there's something for everyone.

Upon entering, we noticed the bar was busy, and we took the only two available seats at the bar, which happened to be next to two regulars who were deeply engrossed in conversation. As I settled into my seat, I couldn't shake off the uncomfortable feeling that came from the intense stare-down I received from the regulars, as if I had intruded on their territory. In an attempt to ease the tension, I switched seats with my husband, but the discomfort lingered. For about ten minutes, we sat there while relatives and regulars came and went, but we received no acknowledgment from the staff. The bartender took two phone orders before serving a table that came in after us, leaving us without menus or drinks. At that point, we decided to leave in frustration. The ambiance of the bar was dark and small stuck between two other larger businesses, with dim lighting that made it difficult to see until my transition lenses adjusted. Additionally, there was a pole right outside the door that posed a hazard for anyone exiting. Overall, we were excited to try Bomber's Bar and Grill, but the lack of service and uncomfortable environment left us feeling let down.

The chicken wet burrito had a little salsa or red sauce on the top sprinkled with shredded lettuce and diced tomato. I didn't look like any other wet burrito I've had which is usually covered considerably with sauce and cheese. It came with sour cream in a little plastic cup with a date on it like it had been scooped and placed into the cup days/weeks before. Didn't try sour cream out of abundance of caution. I cut into the burrito and and at first it seemed ok, but after a piece or two of the chicken I found it was dry and chewy, possibly not even fresh chicken. I therefore decided to quit eating after consuming less than half of the burrito (about a third of it). The others in my party shared a French dip with fries. In fairness they thought it was fine. not great, just fine. The server brought a second plate and two Aus Jus cups and they charged us for the 'extra Aus Jus' I didn't complain about the meal, though in fairness when the server came to take my plate, she made no mention of the fact that I barely touched the food. We were one of only 3 parties in the restaurant at the time so service could have certainly been better. Our server was nice but she never came and offered drink refills, asked if we needed anything else, nothing. Skip Cheers in Mount Pleasant is my advice. None of us will ever go back. I would've only given one star but the server bumped it up a little, so I gave two.
