Mathan Fairweather told me to remove all contingencies and we were all good but then my agent found out we didn't even have a loan secured... shortly after he told me that he couldn't get the rate we had agreed up on and I was forced to put in 25% down instead of 20% with penalty if I would to refinance with less than 2 years based on the new loan requirement. There was also points on his benefit that when I do refinance than he would get a little kick from the bank. I couldn't back out of the deal because we had all contingencies removed which means I would lost my 15k deposit and I had no choice but to move forward. But yeah, look up Mathan Fairweather on google. I'm not the only one who got screwed. read more

I'm purchasing a smaller loan (100k) to complete the sale of my house and it has been a nightmare to work with this company. Their underwriters go beyond due diligence into unfair scrutiny and make you answer questions that are not mandated to the purchase of your home (asking WHY and my motivation to move. When asked it's "they need a reason/something on the app") and will drag out approval for closing to the last minute and then tell you two weeks before close they need the same information over again that you have provided three or 4 times. They do not communicate well or understand self-employed businesses. They also have requested things of my co-borrower that isn't relevant. Would not recommend this company. read more

My contact with Point Mortgage was by way of referral and my loan application was handled by: Iris Villa Loan Officer NMLS # 332274 Iris and her assistant Naara (the person with whom I exchanged the most emails). Seemed personable, but really came off as delayed and unresponsive over the bigger picture. I initiated contact with a transparent explanation of our non-conforming loan needs as we have multiple duplexes we are attempting to add ADUs to. Iris was not on time for any of our meetings and was inclined to call hours before our scheduled times. Iris implied our refinancing both properties would be a breeze and assured me I would not fall into the abyss of apathy and lack of integrity I had encountered with big box lenders. She broke that promise almost immediately. After my application in May of 2021 I was still waiting on interest rate details in August. I reached out multiple times and the last correspondence conveyed my loan was " ready to go, Iris will call". It's August 12, 2021 and nothing. It seems obvious we were dismissed as clients, but absurd we would not be contacted to at least explain. The banking/mortgage industry is fraught with entitlement, unprofessionalism, under educated staff and complete lack of common courtesy. I would obviously not recommend Point Mortgage to anyone and surely will go out of my way to avoid this unacceptable behavior and lack of professional integrity. read more

Point mortgage financed my original loan for my home in San Diego many years ago and now I am back for a refinance. I came back this summer because I thought the initial lack of communication back then was in result of a heavy busy market so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I dealt with Raul and Luigi. I switched to another mortgage company in the midst of my refinance process because of the lack of customer service and communication. Raul and Luigi are really nice people but that doesn't cut it when doing business....performance and results are important. When someone is conducting possibly the largest financial commitment of their life, I believe they deserve top notch service especially when the processing fees are not low and lots are at stake. I would make several phone calls, email, or text with no answer and no courtesy call back. However, their communication was great when they initially get you in the office to start the paper work. Since they can exhibit great communication at the begginning but fade away after you start the process, it clearly indicates where their interest and priorities are at. This is totally unacceptable. I switched to another mortgage company and the level of communication and customer service is super impressive. The level of service at this new company cleary exhibits a a high level of professionalism and possibly proper training. In addition, Point mortgage appears to be outdated and old fashioned based on observing their file system. This the worst mortgage company ever. I refinance my home with them last year and they made a mistake on my mortgage refinance and They couldn't sell my loan to a bank and they are servicing my loan. They have not given me any bank statements of any of my payments. I have tried to make contact with Scott asaro by email and living voice mails. And he ignores me. I need my bank statements to refinance with a responsible mortgage company. Its very frustrating not knowing were my mortgage payment is going if I can't see my bank statements. He let the buyers believe they qualified for a loan and did not disclose to agents that there was no way they could purchase a house. Not only did he cover what was needed to close, he actually emailed me step by step on where we were in the transaction. We were ready to sign almost 2 weeks before the close of escrow due to Lawrence and Maricela's diligence. Communication never ceased from start to finish. Due to contractual requirements I had to cross qualify with the sellers agent and Lawrence took care of getting him all the information he needed to get our offer accepted.
