Outstanding. I recently went here for new glasses and a new prescription, it was a very easy and pleasant process. Setting an appointment is easy online, my appointment was on time and very professional and my glasses arrived quicker than expected. I want to support this local business, I get insurance to use every year. I've gone in about 5 times in 5 years and did business once. The good: They had some nice expensive frames I've liked for years. They took my insurance. The optician was nice and seemed competent. The bad, I did the cheaper glaucoma test and the eye pain was significant and lasted for hours. The front desk applied pressure to buy unwanted items, giving a sense that sales was more important than service. Compared to Costco (not a fair comparison as local businesses have much higher overhead): Frames are nearly half the price, and they often thoroughly wash the frames I bought at Point Richmond Optometry for free. The front desk was more professional the last month I went in. Most frames are more expensive, far out of the range of my insurer. I would pay more if I thought they cared about my eyesight. I may not appreciate the costs of running a small optometry in our small town. read more

I'm a long time patient of Dr. Asmus. She was recommended to me as someone who could handle "highly sensitive" patients. Trust me, "highly sensitive" doesn't begin to fully describe how difficult it is for me to handle having light shined in my eyes. Dr. Asmus got me into contacts (a major feat, trust me) over 15 years ago and I've been with the practice ever since. They have the latest technologies to view your retinas so I no longer have to have my eyes dilated. The air puffer machine and I still have "issues" but I digress. . . The entire staff is top notch and friendly. I live in SF but make a point going to Point Richmond because I can't imagine finding this level of service and professionalism anywhere else. read more

I LOVE Dr Asmus for the sheer fact that she doesn't have to dialate my eyes when I come in. I first started seeing her two years ago after moving from my longtime optomeretrist in Seattle, WA. Her and her staff are wondeful. In fact, when my employer switched eyecare plans the following year, the provider I now have is not taken by Dr Asmus; but I couldn't leave her practice, so I just payed out of pocket the following year (and of course wrote it off :)). I hate that I can hardly see a thing without my contacts, but I love that Dr Asmus is there to hold my hand along the way. read more

Ms. Paula made me comfortable in general but with her vast experience in Optometry made me feel assured that my eyes are in good hands. Also, her staff was very professional and kind.
