We live just a block away and really appreciate the new owners updates and customer service. We own an operate a small architectural preservation business and ran into a small issue on site for our current project at an iconic property in the Pointes. Within an hour the staff suggested, solved, prepared and delivered the product we needed to complete our task!!! We've been in business for 20 yrs and know this is not common. Terrible rude service pales in comparison to prior owner. Previous ownership would greet me, offer to help, after I would let them know I wasn't versed in hardware nomenclature, they would patiently help figure it out, I would happily purchase the items and be on my way. Today, Diane seemed annoyed in non-verbals and verbally. I asked why the rudeness, Diane angrily said I'm not being rude... left with nothing - ACE is truly the place with the helpful hardware man! read more

I found myself leaving home depot disappointed in not finding some supplies for my older house but seemly alway finding what I was looking for here! alit smaller but you be surprised how they seam tl have more. not to mention, you actually get great how to advise and better ideas on how to at Pointe Hardware, unlike the big hardware stores where some guy confidently tell you how to do it wrong or waist time getting the wrong parts. save yourself some time and do the job right and just start with Pointe Hardware. read more

They have everything here, a great place to find whatever you need, especially if you need something for an older Grosse Pointe home. A genuine old fashioned neighborhood hardware store. You'll find what you need there. The back area is for wood cutting, screen and storm repair. They will have what you need and can almost always fix what you need fixed. Their one drawback isn't what they sell or what they can repair, it's their overall attitude of unfriendliness when you need assistance. They just seem really irritated if you have a question. Maybe they just have enough business and know that people will come in anyway because they'll have what is needed, but a friendlier staff would be nice. read more

I can no longer shop at this store even though it is conveniently located near me. The staff is borderline belligerent, particularly the younger guy at the check out. Speaking to customers in a quipped and terse manner, as if they are being a nuisance to the staff, is simply not acceptable and makes for a very uncomfortable shopping experience. I will gladly go out of my way to drive the extra 8 minutes to get to Hammer Time on East Warren or even Home Depot. After having spent literally thousands of dollars at Grosse Pointe Hardware I will no longer patronize them. Enough is enough. read more

I love it, but both times I've gone here, I was able to get everything I wanted, EXCEPT for one item, which was so specific and was desired by so few people, that I ended up having to go to Home Depot later in order to get it. Nothing wrong with the store or the people here, it was simply a matter of more room for more inventory at Home Depot. Don't really like going to Home Depot, frankly. I'd imagine the average homeowner/apartment dweller can find 100% of what they want here 99% of the time. Will definitely return. read more

Yep, the hardware store for the Gran Torino movie. Great inventory, knowledgeable staff, and good prices. Plus they let my dog visit too. The work shop in the back is great for fixing, cutting, etc., screens, glass, pipe, etc. Their lumber is straight too. Whether I am spending $.40 or $400, in this case a water heater, same great service. On most non-commodity items I'd rather shop here than the orange or blue apron big boxes, the prices are competitive and saves me a ton of gasoline money because I can ride my bike over. And if you need that special fitting for an old plumbing fixture or special nut or bolt, they've got it. read more

This is one of those hardware stores that has screws, and nuts, and bolts all in little pull out drawers and the people that work there can find just the right one for you. I recently needed a blade for my sawzall to cut a tree branch and they opened a pack of blades to sell me 1 so I didn't have to buy the pack of 6. Try getting Home Depot to do that! Very knowledgeable and helpful and they always seem to have whatever I need for whatever project I'm working on. read more

I've been going to this hardware for many years and I have enjoyed its convenience however if you ever purchase the wrong item and find out that you don't need all the things you purchase I can't say that they will be so welcome to refund you or even exchange your items. I bought 1 to many Eaton arrow hart GFCI electric outlets and just today a went in and tryed to return it And the guy at the register was less that helpful and actually quite rude. He insisted that I had used it even after I told him i didn't. He appeared to be a little nervous in my presence as I observed him shaking and after going back and forth with him he put the product in my hand and said this is yours and proceeded to rudely walk away so as to dismiss me My experience was very degrading and insulting and as I said before I have been going in this mom and pop hardware since I was a boy I am now a 54 year old business owner in the area and I don't need to get over on a hardware store for a few bucks so I was a little insulted by my experience today. So I just exited the store and decide I would try to let everyone know that while they maybe conveniently located in the Neighborhood there policy are less than favorable to the customers and some of there employees lack in hospitality and sophistication weather you've been patronizing there business once or like me for 25+ years or more. So today's lesson is while it may be a little further to travel goto Home Depot or Lowe's if you want to have some dignity. Not Cool read more

This is the best neighborhood hardware store. The people here are really friendly and they are so helpful from the moment you come in. They will answer all your questions about any project you might have. They carry a lot of things and at the back of the store there is a lumber yard. They will also fix your broken screens etc. it is located in the Grosse Pointe Park district which is quickly becoming a destination at the Poiintes for shopping and restaurants. We need to support stores like that in our neighborhoods. read more

Knowledgeable staff and well stocked for the houses in the area. Don't know what I mean? Go to Home Depot or Lowes and look for plumbing parts, widow parts, etc, for the houses of this era. Talk to Rick and Randy, the managers, if you have a problem project. If they can't help you it probably can't be fixed. read more

Took my vacuum to get the cord fixed and went back a week later and they didn't even start on it. I asked for an estimate and the service guy gave me a blank stare and said I don't know. I guess I was supposed to leave it there until 2019. Took back the vacuum, got a refund and expressed my concern about how rude I was serviced. The cashier rushed to give me my money back to rush me out of the store. When I went outside and was getting in my car the cashier ran up behind me and grabbed my bag and snatched something off the bag with the vacuum in it and said "This is ours". I told him to get away from me and get his ass back in the store. They are very rude and I don't recommend this store to anyone. They can't even replace a cord - terrible service. read more
