Harbor Freight Tools is my go-to for every urgent need for tools (i.e., sockets, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.), dollies, moving carts, safety gear like gloves, and face shields. They're located in most major cities, and they're cheaper for similar items at the bigger name stores. I ended up returning all of the things I had purchased from the bigger chain. For example, cheap safety glasses were around $2.50, while the big box store chain had a similar pair for about $8.00. Most importantly, I wish I would have gotten the cashier's name because he made several suggestions, which assisted my project team. Harbor Freight is known for cheap tools. This is not SnapOn or Mikita. But when you need a tool fast and cheap? This is the place to go. I often will get a power tool here if I'm not sure about buying. If I use it enough to wear it out, then I know I should buy the top line tool. If not, then I have a cheap unused tool instead of a very expensive unused tool. The staff is friendly and helpful. Lines can get long at times but that's by no means a deal-breaker. And aspiring blacksmiths? Their $50 cast iron anvil? It better than nothing!, but not by much. It will chip and send and crack, and you have to strip off that ridiculous powder coating. I'm in no way a tool or landscaping expert so I'm always concerned about going into a store like this and being overwhelmed. Not at Harbor Freight though! This location has workers that are always available to answer your questions. Their prices are notorious low which is a great thing when you're buying a lot of home improvement items. Some products you get what you pay for, but the Pittsburgh tools are very high quality in my opinion. You get a circular once every other week if you sign up for their email/mailing program. With the circular, you get a coupon for a free item with a purchase (shammy towel, an LED mini light, etc.). Sometimes though, the items are out of stock which may have drawn you into coming into Harbor Freight in the first place, so be cautious of that. read more

Beware when shopping for expensive items. A year ago I bought an air compressor for $1400 with a $500 two year warranty. I go in the store today because the starter stopped working which is an internal problem and not something that was my fault. I find out that my only option is to buy the "upgraded" air compressor for $700 more or get $1400 back onto a harbor freight gift card. This was all because they discontinued the one I bought last year, go figure! Keep in mind I used a harbor freight credit card to make the purchase from last year so now I have to keep making installment payments towards a product that neither works nor do I have. read more

It's a nice big store that's kept somewhat clean, but the staff here is pretty useless.

Located just off a busy section of John R, with a private lot. Inside is a large well lit store for cheap tools and tool related supplies like tool boxes, gloves, safety gear, trailers... They have sale mailings with coupons, and a online club, which can cut the already lower end prices. The staff is usually nice and helpful. These aren't high end tools, but they work okay for a decent price. They have a wide selection of stuff. If you paid $20 for a die grinder and wheel to make some cuts at home, and it only works for two days, you still are way ahead. read more

As a homeowner, I sometimes get into a situation which I can take care of myself, but don't have a lot of cash to buy the necessary tool. Harbor Freight Tools is very helpful in that regard. The tools they sell are (in my experience) as good as the top selling equivalents, but at a fraction of the cost. On top of that, they regularly send out catalogues which include discount coupons, and for some items which are FREE with ANY purchase. I highly recommend Harbor Freight for tools. Bought (4) 3 ton hydraulic car jacks here One failed in a month. Returned it, got a new one, failed in two months. Since I was out of my 90 days warranty they refused to return it. Talked to Dan the manager and he refused to warranty it because it's rusty. He said if it looked better he would return it. Lol what a joke. I use my jack everyday. I was pleasantly surprised when I went looking for a new pair of replacement wheels for my hand cart. I was told they were cheap, but the prices were phenomenal!!! I persused the store and was astounded at the selection of hardware and tool merchandise they had at great prices. Went in to buy a generator. We stood looking at what they had to offer. We had questions and looked for someone to answer. A girl walked by pushing a cart and didn't even acknowledge my presence. Another girl came out and spoke to the first about a client making a big purchase of several of the same items that is done yearly. Waited for anyone to approach and help but got nothing. Decided to go to Lowe's. The generator was a little more money but at least you get help. If you want to be ignored then this is your place. read more

Good place for inexpensive imported tools. Sometimes it can be a little hard to find someone at this location if you have a question or are looking for a specific hard to find item, but overall really like coming here. Store is well lit and kept clean/orderly. While the prices are generally low, the quality on many things are generally decent. read more

I don't typically write reviews but I've been in this store twice in the past week and both times the supervisor "Samantha" has been there and she has had an attitude towards customers. First it was with another guy while I was checking out. This time it was with me. As a supervisor you're supposed to lead by example. The rest of the staff has always seemed helpful. She doesn't say anything like "thank you", "have a nice day", doesn't ever smile, things you'd expect out of someone working in the customer service industry. I'm sure you'll read over this and no action will be taken but the way employees treat customers makes an impact on shopping experience. read more

First time at this store was Saturday night, and it will be the last. Worst service ever received anywhere. Used a gift card to buy batteries. Stood in line for twenty minutes and then the cashier who apparently had no idea what she was doing could not figure out why the codes on the batteries did not match. All sizes of batteries cost the same amount but she went into what seemed to be a drug induced fit on me. I was with my child while this played out. Finally the manager rung up my batteries with no problem. All of this for a $4.00 purchase. Rotten to the core staff! read more

let me first say, i shop here all the time. probably about once a week; my guys lose and break tools a lot. A lot of reviews on here talk about the staff being helpful. I usually don't need a whole lot of help so i'm not sure about that. What I have experienced is an unforgivably long check out process. Case in point, last night I ran in, grabbed 3 things and went to the check out. after waiting 5 mins while someone found the price on a screwdriver, I was checked out by "Brandy". Brandy asked if I got the catalog in the mail. I said that, yes, I get the catalog, that's why I was there. My items were on sale. Brandy then wanted my phone number (why I have no idea). When I gave her my number she said it wasn't in the system and did I use another number that was. So I get the catalog at home but now I'm expected to PROVE to them that I get it by give them the matching telephone number? Brandy said she had to have my phone number that was associated with the catalog address. I looked at her and asked "Can I just pay for the damn thing?". After that she rang me up with no shortage of attitude and, upon further inspection, charged me $2 more for a head lamp than it should have been. I'll stick with ACE from now on. read more
