We were the only customers in the entire store. We walked the whole store including directly in front of and beside the counter... not one acknowledgement from staff. Disorganized and rude. I really wanted to love this place and tried 4 times, but had the last straw recently when I needed a simple downrod for a ceiling fan. I ordered the downrod only to get a call today, a week later that they never placed the order because they "forgot to charge me $15 for 7-10 day shipping." What? First, it took you a week to figure this out, thus delaying my project. Second, if you "forgot," Herald Wholesale should eat the cost. The way they handled this was totally unacceptable. I ended up canceling my local order and bought my $32 part online. The past several times I visited and called, sales associates are "put out," like they don't want to be there. You experience this both over the phone and in-person. Herald Wholesale needs to go above and beyond to win over local patrons who can just as easily buy products online. Change your way HW, or your days will be numbered. read more

When this business was in Oak Park they were great: the staff was friendly and helpful, glad to help you find what you needed. But not any more. I can't believe the owner is dumb enough to pay these losers to sit there on their computers and never look up. It's impossible to get waited on for anything. How do they stay in business? The people behind the desk are rude and won't even acknowledge that anyone is standing there. Evidently, they are not on commission and don't need any money. This is the very rudest establishment in MIchigan--no one else comes close. The only explanation must be that the manager is fellating the boss. Go to Russell Hardware, where the staff is normal. This place is a joke. I made an appointment a few days ago. I drove from across town and when I got there no one would come to the door. I called to let them know I had arrived and they had me waiting over 15 minutes. All while various people looked out the window at me and walked by. My time is important too. I will be spending my whole house renovation money elsewhere. read more

My experience was good. We purchased a faucet and a sink. We specifically had an associate recommend the combination for compatibility. However, after the installation we noted that there was a lot of spillage of the water. Initially, the manager tried to argue with us and refused returns. However, after some convincing gave us a full refund and apologized. I did have to call my granite person again to do the granite all over again (cambria- they were so nice- didn't charge an extra dime) and also my handyman to repaint my countertop for a new faucet. read more

Great showroom.... but customer service policy stinks!! After spending numerous hours making selections, waited and waited for promised e mail quote. Finally had to stop by to see status of quote. I have no issues with Rachel my sales person who is clearly overworked. Apparently this company doesn't make a priority out of your order unless u are standing in front of them..... preferring to work on new walk in customers. In other words volume over customer service. I asked to speak to manager- Tracey who was rude and defensive with an attitude. Voices got loud on both sides. Judging by other comments on this site others have had issues here as well. I have been in Herald many times to window shop, but today I was there for an extensive home remodel project at the direction of my builder. The reviews regarding the workers being rude and uppity are spot on! It is no way I will spend thousands of dollars with this company! No way! Twice I've been to this establishment and twice I left frustrated. Nobody comes up to you and when you ask where to get a number they are rude. There is always an insane wait to get assistance and their is no decent customer service. They are completely uppity like they are doing you a favor for offering merchandise. While, yes, walking in without an appointment can make for a time consuming visit; if I have made an appointment, I have always gotten undivided attention. And the times I have arrived unannounced, I just take a number and wait my turn....just like anywhere else! Their prices are fair. I'm surprised that there would be a negative comment about the store service. These people really know their vast lines of product and often suggest comparable products at lower price points.
