Talk about a horrible experience. I filled out their info online in December and was told the…read moresoonest appt is 2/6 with Dr Joseph Burwell. Arthur made the appt then on 2/3 (today) I received an email from Arthur that my appointment has been cancelled. I called in and was told that they have an appt tomorrow (No way for me to make it) or I can come in some time in March. To summarize, I waited 2 months for an appt, that was cancelled 3 days before. This company does NOT CARE about your mental health. I recommend contacting a doctor who does. This place is more like a factory than a medical practice. Yelp needs a 0 star option for Savant Care Clinic in Redondo Beach. Their response is HIPPA won't allow them to "divulge" anything. What a joke of an answer. There is no HIPPA. I set an INITIAL APPT 2 months in advance only to get an email l 3 days before telling me it's cancelled and to call the office When I did they told me they can see me in March. ANYONE seeking this type of medical help should go to a real practice. Not a factory like this place. Good rIddance mr operations manager.

I would rate them - 5 stars if possible but I suppose one star will do. I have never, ever rated any business on Yelp this low and I have never written a review as long as this one, but they left me no choice. {{{ You don't need to read the rest of the review if you're short on time, but the BOTTOM LINE about Savant Care is I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. In fact, stay away from them if your insurance allows it. We contacted Savant Care last week to try to be seen by Dr. Sonia Parikh. Based on our experience with their front-office, if you can call it that, they SERIOUSLY need to improve their new patient intake process and make it a priority to EMPATHIZE WITH PEOPLE WHO NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE. PLEASE GET RID OF THE WEB-BASED QUESTIONNAIRE AND "MATCHING OR SELECTION CRITERIA" that must be met in order to see Dr. Parikh. Instead, PLEASE have some COMPASSION to refer us to another doctor who you believe will be a better fit instead of telling us in monotone voice "YOU DID NOT MEET THE MATCHING/SELECTION CRITERIA SO YOU CANNOT SEE DR. SONIA PARIKH." We are normal people so we have feelings too. BTW...please fix your website so that both your "Feedback to Co-founder" and technical support-like ticketing system for assistance actually work. }}} A more detailed account of our experience below... We tried calling Savant Care three times to make an initial consultation appointment with Dr. Sonia Parikh. Their IVR system felt very much like calling a technical support number for a small software company. When I finally spoke to someone, it was quite obvious that their appointment and front office phone numbers are routed to some offshore personal assistant service in India. They will provide some American names, like Richard or BG, but you can immediate tell those are not their real names. Anyway, this guy sent us to their website, www.savantcare.com. We were prompted to create an account then we had to answer very personal and sensitive questions, but we answered them nonetheless. We did not receive any confirmation e-mail or anything to indicate when they'd get back to us and if the doctor will even see my wife. I finally called back after two days after not receiving any acknowledgement or call back. Another Indian guy told us in a tone like an offshore technical support representative, "You did not meet the matching (or selection) criteria" or something to that effect, therefore you will not be able to see Dr. Parikh." There was absolutely no kindness, no compassion and no empathy. It felt like we were calling to apply for a loan and that we didn't get approved for it. On their website, they claim to care a lot about their patients with "testimonials" from their existing patients. They even have these exact words on their website, "We are on a mission to change mental health care. Your feedback is very important to us. One of us will read and respond to your message personally. If for some reason you are not happy with our clinic and would like to be discharged and get the clinic fees refunded just say so." How can they claim to be on a mission to change mental health care if their office flatly tells you that one of the founding doctors, Dr. Parikh, won't see you because you did not meet some unknown criteria that a guy in India cannot explain what that criteria even means. But he was very quick to ask for my credit card for my co-pay even when I am just trying to make an appointment. I have absolutely nothing against offshore Indian answering services, BUT the impersonal, technical support-like experience is not reassuring especially for psychiatric treatment. Being told that my wife "did not meet some selection criteria and not eligible to see a doctor" that my insurance company referred me to is ABSOLUTELY A HORRIBLE WAY to treat potential patients.

Wonderful doctor. Wow, I have been to meny psychiatrists, unfortunately. However, when I sought…read morehelp from Dr. Furman, I felt a sudden relief as I entered her office, she is a kind and sweet lady. She knew, after a few diagnostic conversations with me just how to help. She has a great capacity to empathize and I just loved talking to her and hearing her feedback. She is amazing!

So before you read I went to this appointment unbiased, and just hoping she would be okay. I read…read moreall the reviews I could find and she seemed to be a good doctor. Maybe she was just mean to me because I'm fat. Her comments made it obvious that weight loss for me was part of the "complex treatment plan" So there were many red flags I shouldve left the second she call me obese. It was uncalled for and irrelevant and being psychiatrist and knowing I have an eating disorder I would think shed know not to comment on my appearance or weight. One of the worst things about the whole appointment is she told me to wean off completely free Lithium 600 my that I'd been taking for a year in 6 days. Being a doctor I would assume she knows how dangerous that could be for me. When I asked if that could make me sick with withdrawal she said if I was worried of getting sick I could wean for 2 weeks then be off it. I looked online it said the dosage should be lowered in increments every 2-6 weeks. I've been weaned off many meds and I know that's not safe to do. She didn't know anythinf about eating disorders repeatedly mentioned weight loss even after I told her I didn't want to focus on weight loss. Seeing as the disease I suffer from thrives off of concept of skinny cures all FML so upset. also asked graphic details of a traumatic experience if I penetrated or touched. Theres no reason you need to know that to help me. Will you prescribe something different if I was touche? How is that relevant. Trauma is trauma. If you're really sensitive and deal with trauma or PTSD or have body image issues or an eating disorder I recommend trying somewhere else. Or try this out. It doesn't hurt to try. You might like her. I'm not coming back. I left feeling so triggered and stupid for opening up about my stuff and having her talk to me like she didn't believe me. Ugh, good luck.

Dr. Tsuang also took scrupulous notes, so time was never wasted and sessions were effective. Without reservation I recommend, Dr. Tsuang, to anyone in need of a top notch mental health professional; moreover, one which specializes in Dual-Diagnosis particularly concerning the impact of PTSD and functionality. Now in 2023, life is great, and I have rendered the negative impact PTSD into a positive outlook on life. I still keep in touch with Dr. Tsuang, although less frequently. I don't normally write Yelp reviews, but given how few existing reviews there are for this…read morelocation, and how profoundly impactful my experience there was on my life, I feel obligated to share so that others who are struggling like I was 4 months ago can hopefully make the best decision possible for their wellbeing. For those unfamiliar with PHP/IOP treatment, it's essentially a middle ground between regular weekly therapy and full hospitalization. If you're in a crisis and are not currently receiving any kind of psychiatric care, this place can help you; if you're already receiving care, but it doesn't feel like enough, or you feel like you need something more intense--without being admitted to a psychiatric hospital (the image I had in my mind was being restrained in a straight jacket and surrounded by doctors in lab coats)--this is EXACTLY the kind of program you're looking for. Essentially, it's a 3 month commitment. After speaking to the admissions team and doing a remote interview with the program director, Tim, you'll likely begin within a few days--possibly within 24 hours. For 4 weeks, you show up every weekday at 9am and leave at 3:30pm. This is the partial hospitalization program, or PHP. You'll go through an extensive intake process where you'll be asked some very personal questions (I was uncomfortable at first, but trust me, the staff here are super caring and kind and you'll get to know all of them really well). You'll be thrown into the existing PHP group (mine was around 10 people) which is also nerve-wracking--but again you'll be surrounded by people who are probably there for similar reasons as you, and everyone will be totally understanding and welcoming). You'll be assigned a personal care team consisting of a therapist and a counselor, each of whom you'll meet with individually once a week. There's also a nurse practitioner who you'll consult with weekly, who can assist with prescribing medications or simply supervising/monitoring any existing ones you may be taking. There's a 30 minute lunch halfway through the day, as well as 10 minute breaks in between each group session. The sessions include traditional group therapy (known as "open process," led by one of the therapists); dialectical behavior therapy (DBT, led by a counselor); reading/journaling exercises on a whole range of topics related to things like coping skills, causes of anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, social skills, communication skills, etc. (the list goes on and on); and some interesting once-a-week sessions like art therapy, sound bath, and drama therapy (it's not what it sounds like, trust me). After that, you'll transition into the intensive outpatient program (IOP) over the course of 2 weeks; this is known as the "hybrid" period--hybrid PHP for one week (attending PHP for half days only, either 9am-12pm or 12:30pm-3:30pm), then hybrid IOP for another week (half day PHP on Tue/Thur, and half day IOP on Mon/Wed/Fri). The remaining 6 weeks are the IOP portion of the treatment, consisting of the same half days, but only 3 days a week (Mon/Wed/Fri); these types of programs are a "revolving door" of people entering and exiting, some at the start of their 3 months and some at the end, so when you transition to IOP, you'll be in a new group--same staff and care team, some new faces, mostly familiar ones, just a different room than PHP and slightly different activities and program structure. You'll still meet with your individual therapist and counselor every week. After 12 weeks, you'll finish and will be officially discharged from the program. The staff can help you get set up with an outside therapist and psychiatrist if needed. Now, logistics aside, this place changed my life. I'm not "fixed" nor did I expect to be. I'm not even necessarily doing "better"--but I am different; I think just a little bit differently, I feel just a little bit differently, I think about my feelings just a little bit differently. My life is more or less the same as it was before I went through the program, however--there are now small but powerful glimmers of change that I notice as I go about my days, little cracks in the behavioral patterns that have been on repeat for years, tiny moments of clarity where I understand what I'm doing, what I'm thinking, what I'm feeling, and why it's happening. It may not sound like much, but my time at Clear was without a doubt the most profound 3 months of my life, and attending was quite possibly the best decision I've ever made for myself. Special thanks to Mike and Lilly for being such a chill and awesome care team for me, Tim for creating such a thoughtful and in-depth program, Caroline for being so welcoming every day at the front desk, and everyone else for cultivating such a safe, kind, and respectful space each and every day--Sarah, Hailey, Donovan, Thomas, Kelly, Lainey, Gavin, John, Kristina, Logan, Joanna, Alexis, Wendy, Nathan, Jamie, Christian, Amanda, and uh...anyone I'm forgetting.
