I went here for a cut and highlight with Amanda. It was a difficulty to find location but once I got there it was ok. Cute little place. It was a bit chilly when I first got there and was thankful they turned the heat up. The haircut took quite some time to do but Amanda did a great job. I was happy with result and the cut. A terrible "highlight job" turned into the best hair experience of my life. I haven't had my hair done in years and have a really strick budget. (Ladies, never EVER go cheap with blonde). On the left are three photos of the terrible/traumatic hair issue I had. - huge chunks of blond, not blended. It looked like I had 6 months growout. BACKGROUND - I'm extremely picky with who handles my hair - from cutting to perming. Jayla has been perming my hair for years (twice a year) and I always get great results. PROS - Jayla knows what she is doing and always takes her time perming my hair. I have boob-length hair and it usually takes about two hours for the whole process. The first few times I told her I wanted loose wavy curls and she delivered. About a few weeks ago, I asked for tighter curls and she also delivered. CONS - The process itself takes forever but the results are worth it and (the perm lasts for about 4-5 months). POINTERS - You can't park in the lot until after business hours but there is a lot of street parking available. read more

Emily did such a good job!! And she let me hangout afterwards so I could pump lol She also came in bright and early at 7am so I could get my hair done since I was having baby sitting issues! After having another lady try to rip me off a day prior, it was nice getting my hair done by a genuine hair artist. Most hair artists are not good at conversations either, but Emily was very interested and was engaging the entire time. She even offered to let me come back to tone my hair if needed because she wanted me to be absolutely in happy and in love with my hair. Appreciation post for Danielle. I followed her here from Envy on NW Glisan after a few years of cuts/color and continue to respect her skills, personality, and demeanor. She's very welcoming and matter of fact, the best type of professional who immediately identifies what you want, what you've had, and what makes sense moving forward with complete honesty and support. For what it's worth: I'm a naturally dirty blonde who wants to be lighter (she nails it) with a fine hair texture that's historically seemed tricky to cut at the risk of becoming suburban (again, she super nails it, apologies for the drag suburbs but I'm young + gay). Not only is Emily fun and a joy to visit, she does a better job of cutting my hair the way I want it than any barbers/hairdressers in my 26 years of living in NYC, where you either paid a fortune and got attitude, or went cheap and got scalped! I know most of you think cutting mens hair is the same haircut, but it's just as complicated as women's cuts. Emily pays attention and my hair at age 49 looks thicker and better than it ever has, I'm growing it longer and she really knows how to touch it up with just a trim whether I go in ever 3 weeks or run a little late. I seriously credit her with why I looked so good for my 30th high school reunion. WONDERFUL personality, she is just so much fun. Well I guess things were not as they were. My wife went back again and she walked away in tears. The problem was her haircut not the color but she likes the girl who runs this place so much she couldn't bare to tell her. Sadly her hair was not like she wanted and she felt the girl was rushing to get out of there on a Saturday. I have to say going with her this last time I enjoyed the look of the place and the girl was more then friendly. I wouldn't want my wife to come back here though. It seems rather impossible to find a good place to get your hair done but we are once again on the move and looking for a place to find her own. I wish this place the best because really she has a great personality and colors her hair well but the cuts are something that are hit and miss and we don't like spending money and flipping a coin on the quality. read more

I'm new to the area and have been in dire need of a haircut (my split ends were splitting-- not a good sign!). My sister recommended Brice at Poise Salon. It's always nerve wracking to try out a new hairstylist but I'm glad I went to Brice. I LOVE my haircut. Brice was super patient and knowledgable. I had a pretty good idea of what kind of haircut I didn't want (my head/hair to resemble a yield sign; a cut that turns my wavy locks into a frizzy mess). I didn't have a clear picture of what I did want-- instead I was open to new suggestions. From there Brice helped me figure out what would work best for my hair. He spent lots of time, making sure I was happy with my new 'do. Brice also blew dry AND straightened my hair to make sure the layers were even. The haircut was very reasonably priced! We moved to Portland in August of 2016 and finding a new salon is always hard for a gal, so after trying one place without really clicking my wife found Poise salon on Schedulicity of all places and the rest, as they say, is history. She was ready to start trying some new colors after being "blonde" for so many years and thank god we found Anna Henry. Anna is gifted at blending color with adept intuition. Starting with blue and now going purple it all looks stunning and beautiful. Wherever we go people stop and tell my spouse how great her hair looks, it is phenomenal. I have started having Anna cut my hair and have been getting it colored by her as well and that has been great for me. She actually plans in between visits on what my new color should be. She is so swift and skilled with the cutting part that you hardly even notice she is doing it. Most importantly Anna is a pleasure to be around with a bubbly personality and genuinely caring nature we always look forward to our visits. The salon is a little out of the way which is cool because there is always parking. It is simple and unpretentious and best of all inexpensive. I also discovered Emily through a Groupon and am thrilled to have found her. I have very thick and wavy hair that is difficult to handle, and she's a natural with it! I've gone back three times for cut and color. I thought the first time was perfect, and yet, every time gets better. I'm trying to grow it out, and before my last visit I was almost ready to cut it all off, but she talked me down from the hair "cliff" and trimmed it perfectly, and I am shocked at how easily it styles and how great it looks even though it is supposed to be in the awkward phase. I read the previous person's review here, and I have to disagree. I enjoy chatting and getting to know her and I like that it's a one-person business in a cool art/work loft. I love getting to know my hairdresser. Emily has become the only person I will go to and the only one I trust. I moved here from Seattle a couple of years ago, and searched and searched for someone I can count on. I've never found someone before who is equally adept at cutting and color, usually you get one or other, but Emily's talented at both. Sativa not only came in on Sunday to do my hair but she made me feel like a million bucks. I wanted a new look but I'm no stylist. She worked with my vague ideas and came up with a great style and color. I knew I wanted some highlights and/or lowlights but I wasn't sure what I wanted exactly. Sativa chatted with me about variations and came up with some terrific results. I've had so many complements on how great my hair looks and it's a style that I can totally deal with myself. We usually look great after leaving the salon but the next day can be hard to get the same look but Sativa showed me some tricks to do the style myself and it still looks wonderful days later.
