Came up to Portland from Eugene for a weekend to celebrate our 30th anniversary- Made an appointment for a blow out to be ready for the weekend. Got a call about 30 min before my appointment saying that they had a client running long . I said no problem, I can mess around for 30 min. I walked in the door and they said- "oh we just called you- they are going to have to (insert hair talk I don't understand here) for the client so you are going to have to wait some more. Needless to say I bailed at this point. What would have made this right for me is if they had another hairdresser helped me out. Or another salon. Something! I wanted was a blowout for my special weekend. I didn't need anything extensive or fancy. If you make an appointment the appointment should be kept. Sadly disappointed. I had come in with a funky haircut from the sheds school that felt bulky and choppy, I left with a beautiful textured layered cut. May be my most favorite cut so far! TLDR; Alex is AMAZING. Recently I went to a popular local salon that's primarily known for its fun fashion colors. That might have been a mistake. After asking for a beige balayage with a shadow root and grey coverage (and showing a picture of what I wanted), I ended up with muddy brown hair with dark grey streaks. I got home (crying) and with many washes managed to get the grey toner out, leaving me with dense streaky orange highlights all over. I started looking for someplace trustworthy to fix my color. After seeing Salon Beck's reviews, I called, and was lucky enough to quickly get an appointment with Alex. Somehow she managed to fix my nightmare stripey hair, and turn it into the lived-in beige balayage I'd wanted from the beginning. If you're looking for that easy, stylish, and better than natural look, I cannot recommend Alex more. I'll absolutely be going back to her in the future. Regarding the location - the salon is classically elegant, and has the most comfortable shampoo chairs I've experienced. As far as accessibility, I'm a size 22, and was able to sit comfortably in both the cutting chair and the shampooing chair. read more

Had a prior scheduled appointment from weeks ago. The morning of the appointment they canceled and said she is no longer taking extension appointments. Two things. First, if I had canceled on such short notice I would have been charged. Second, I wonder if I can sue for the four clients I had to reschedule to show up to this appointment. This feels like a lack of respect for my time. I can understand the need to cancel, no problem. The day of seems thoughtless and disrespectful. read more

This was my first curly cut and I came in with my hair all over the place from previously giving myself bangs and she helped blend everything together and it looks amazing! If I lived in Portland, I would be a Salon Beck REGULAR!!! Kara and Taylor were my dames in shining armor! I arrived from Hawaii late Tuesday evening and received an email that the meeting I came to Portland for was going to have us do headshots first thing on Thursday morning. ---TO THE GOOGLE--- I found Salon Beck within walking distance from my hotel and was able to schedule a facial and shampoo/style online for Wednesday afternoon. Alas, my brain was jet lagged and I scheduled hair BEFORE the facial - definitely not what I wanted. I sent an email to Salon Beck and was able to have the appointments switched. When I arrived at the salon, I was greeted by THE SWEETEST spaniel who proceeded to snuggle on my lap ( a much needed treat since I was missing my fur babies back home). Kara has a welcoming space for me to relax and indulge in my facial while Taylor gave me the hair I REALLY needed for the headshots. I left feeling much like I was walking on CLOUD 9. Now, I just needed my nails done and Kara gave me a recommendation for a walking distance nail salon........which turned out PERFECTLY - but that's for another review. Her attention to detail with my blonde is insane and she's sweet as can be. I was seeing Natalia at Glow Salon before she moved over to Beck and I am SO glad she moved. The ambiance is perfect and they have my favorite Oribe products. I recently was referred to Moe for my extensions and let me tell you between the color Natalia did and the extensions Moe gave me my hair has NEVER looked better. My stylist recently moved to Salon Beck, and I really enjoy this salon. They chairs and hair wash stations are actually comfortable, which is important when your hair color takes 4+ hours.
