From all the times that I have done my hair, he has by far been the most detail oriented and technical stylist i have had. Asian hair is pretty stubborn or hard to lift, but he was super knowledgeable about the entire process and understood what i was aiming for. When I arrived, I was told they could not perform the partial highlight and that the stylist was new and only able to offer a haircut. I was willing to discuss what could reasonably be done within the scheduled time, but they refused to explain further or explore any options with me. The interaction felt rushed and uncomfortable. I was quickly ushered out and told to go to another salon down the street, which was awkward and confusing. I left feeling as though I had done something wrong, despite simply showing up for a confirmed service. Overall, it was a disappointing and uncomfortable experience, especially after the time and expense required to arrange childcare and attend the appointment.

The salon is sparkling clean and every precaution seems to be being taken. Michael really, really knows hair. And while my hair might be relatively boring cut wise, its still important to me that it looks good and has at least SOME interest - I am pretty sure my bangs are 10% of my entire personality. Sara Jean did a fabulous job adding in some layers and cutting my trademark bangs. I've been working on trying to bring out my natural wave patterns, and her cut helped me get more wave on the top layers that get weighed down and tend to go flat. Doza is ABSOLUTELY the best!…read more I have notoriously unruly THICK Asian hair. It's got waves, kinks, and is super dark. I've had countless just "meh" cuts. Apparently, Asian hair is really hard to work with and most of the places in Portland have little or no experience in working with it. I have the kind of hair that poofs out if it's not cut properly and turns orange if the color isn't just right. My worst was a cut that ended up looking like a mullet because the lady admitted she didn't know how to layer Asian hair because she usually worked with thinner, straighter hair. I wanted to cry and give up on cute hair. Doza is a godsend! I went to her to just get my hair trimmed up the first time and came out with the most amazing, easy to maintain haircut I've had in years! When I came in my hair was literally down to my butt and not maintained at all. She eased me into the idea of having shorter mid-length hair and sweeping bangs that would be easy and quick to style in the morning. She also gave me great layers to add some movement in my hair because before I had just given up on trying to tame my hair into doing anything. The layers complemented my natural waves and round face shape without being a super shocking change. It was noticeable though and I would always get stopped on the street with complements on how great my haircut looked. So I went back again to change it up. I wanted to try something different for summer and asked her to do a short cut. Because I have a rounder face, I was concerned of looking too round or like Edna from the Incredibles. :-) I had short haircuts in the past where my hair poofed out into a triangle, but I figured, what the heck and let her have free reign because she did such a great job the last time and from talking the last time she knew exactly how my hair would behave with her cut waves and all. She did such a great job of picking out the right haircut for my concerns about having poofy hair and something that wasn't going to take 2 hours to style every morning. She took her time to explain what she envisioned being a good fit for me. She give me an asymmetrical bob with longer pieces in the front to framed my face and counteract the roundness factor and told me that the length in the front would work with my natural waves if I chose to let it air dry. I would have never guessed to ask for a cut like that but when she walked me through what my hair would naturally do and how the cut would compliment it, I knew I was in good hands. I also loved her head massage! I can get ticklish if it's too light but hers was amazing and firm. I could have fallen asleep right there. :-) She also gave me a touch of color that looks so natural and not brassy at all! She came up with such a creative solution that I could wear in so many different ways! It looks so amazing and high-fashion when it's straightened out because it's such a precise and accurate cut but it's also super cute naturally wavy and isn't triangle-like at all. I love my hair so much now and can't say enough good things about how talented and insightful Doza is! She really takes her time to give personalized attention to her clients and it really shows through in her work. I've gotten stopped by so many people since this last cut and color who just rave about how good it looks on me. I couldn't be happier and will continue to tell anyone and everyone that this girl seriously knows hair!
