I got exactly what I wanted, and he was really great with being patient with me throughout the process - mainly bc i found it hard to articulate what i really wanted. From all the times that I have done my hair, he has by far been the most detail oriented and technical stylist i have had. Asian hair is pretty stubborn or hard to lift, but he was super knowledgeable about the entire process and understood what i was aiming for. In the end, i was super satisfied with the results after sitting in the chair for 5 hours! Time and money well spent. I appreciated that he didnt rush things with me, since these results take time. I had an appointment with Terra C. for a haircut. Because of Covid, it had been almost 6 months since my last haircut and my hair was super long and I just felt like chopping it off. I have not had a regular hair stylist since moving to Portland in 2016 and have always driven to my hometown to another stylist who is my friend. Mackenzie, Thank-you for your reply to my Yelp review. First, I do not have an Instagram account, that was for your stylist Instagram page. I don't know how you could not have noticed my frustration when you were in the salon and stylist consulted with you the problems. The first visit with her, after a previous consultation giving her my formula, she was going to disregard it and use bleach, which I said wasn't what I wanted. Afterward, she didn't use enough conditioner on my long hair, continued to brush out wet hair, not acceptable. On second visit because I genuinely liked her, understood her inexperience I asked you as well as her if you used Matrix. I was told yes, but she decided to use different product, which I refused, went home and returned with my own Matrix color. I was leaving town and wanted to relax prior to that by having my hair done at your salon. She again didn't seem to understand how to apply color, then proceeded to brush wet hair, and that is when I decided to pay and leave with wet hair. I wasn't going to continue letting her blow dry and flat iron it. I was not going to cause a scene, particularly when it was obvious I was not happy when I paid you and left with a wet head of hair. I really think you need to provide stylist with classes and check their work until they are more experienced. read more

As this was my first visit, she took the time to listen to my every need for my haircut and did exactly as I like it. My ethnicity is Asian and it's always a problem in finding someone who knows how to cut my hair. Well, Shawn does and again, she did a GREAT job. I love this new salon! Besides being in a great location near trendy restaurants the salon makes you feel welcome the minute you walk in. I had my hair cut and colored by Mackenzie-the results were amazing. I couldn't be more pleased. Mackenzie listened and understood what I wanted- a fun new cut for the summer. I am 66 years young (it can be difficult to find a stylist who understands my age group) we aren't trying to look 22 again but neither do we want a frumpy old lady hair do.
