First time ordering poke here. Got takeout. Worker was quick and polite. Bowl holds more than it looks, some sides were disproportionate to others. Large bowl had a generous amount of protein. Simply put, we're addicted. Poke Express basically takes the best aspects of sushi and gives you control to make your own bowl of poke. They pretty much have any option you want for every step of building a bowl. Here's the breakdown: 1. Base - my wife always gets rice, but I enjoy the spinach mix. 2. Protein - their quality of salmon and tuna is surprising for poke! Really quality stuff. Love that their spicy options are full pieces with spicy mayo rather than ground up. 3. Sides - pretty much everything you could want, including avocado for no up-charge and has always been fresh/quality. 4. Sauce - tons of options for any taste. I like the sesame oil or spicy mayo, while my wife loves the teriyaki. 5. Topping - the dried garlic is a must! The large is incredibly filling and loaded with your choice of protein. Seriously, at just shy of $14, this often fills our sushi craving for far less than sushi normally costs. Pro Tip: Ask for the punch card if not offered to you. I can not honestly say why it took me this long to try them even though they were really close to my workplace. One thing I can tell, I was missing out. Man! I love everything I had here. In fact it was so good, I went twice in a week without any guilt. They have fresh fish, great topping selections for a good price. I got to build my own large bowl on my poke run. The most recent poke build was four scoops of Spicy Salmon, half salad and half rice and cucumber, seaweed salad, pineapple, spring onion, edamame, cilantro, and peanut for toppings. I choose spicy poke for the sauce and it was perfect. It had a good kick of spiciness (in a good way). The meal was amazing and plenty for one seating. If you still have room for dessert, they have a yummy treat of rolled ice cream right next to their poke bar. They have the same concept choose your ice cream flavor and add toppings. I had tried the rolled ice cream at their different location before and I was pleased as well. I urge you guys to go check Poke Express. read more

The fish was fresh and didn't taste frozen but the portions of meat were sparing. There is a nice patio to sit in the summer sun... that belongs to Qdoba. This kind of place would never survive out in the Pacific Rim where you can get proper Asian food in a competitive market. When we walked in the door, the restaurant staff was sitting and eating her lunch on the counter where you order and pay for your food. She was rude when we interrupted her lunch and came in trying to get food. Some poke ingredient items that were listed on the menu were not available in the case and the server apparently didn't understand our questions about the options. They skimped on the sauce, the rice was dry, and the prep cutting of the food was of very poor quality - chunky pieces of veggies etc. when they should be finely cut and presented. We got this as takeout and discovered the bad food once we were home and the damage was done. What's not to love about this lame doomed franchise!? read more

After just moving back to Spokane from the Everett are where there is a a large selection of Poke options I was pleasantly surprised to find out about this place. It is close to my work which is even better. I got the build your own large which comes with four scoops of protein... I had spicy tuna and salmon and the added which was extra. In my bowl was white rice, salad greens, protein, scallions, cilantro, cucumber, avocado, the house poke sauce and shredded nori... It was so yummy. I highly recommend the house poke sauce.... Next time I may change up the proteins as they have many choices. The portion size was good I ate the whole bowl although not at one time. The fish was fresh...and all the ingredients were fresh. There is also a amazing ice cream section... I am not typically a sweet eater but I might have to test it... I couldn't give it a 5 because although very good and I will be returning many times over... My expectations are higher from my amazing choices on the west side of the state. Pretty good poke bowl but the price is a little off putting for the amount you get. I got the large poke bowl where you pick 4 different toppings, I chose salmon, spicy ahi, eel (+1.00) and shrimp. (~$17 total) The salmon and spicy ahi were a decent amount and tasted delicious. I was disappointed in the eel as we paid an extra dollar for it and it only included one (1) piece of tiny eel, and then shrimp only includes four (4) pieces?!? I think the avocado was extra too but the slices were very stingy. I would check this place out if you need a poke fix and the flavors were pretty good but the brown rice in my bowl was an interesting texture. Overall - okay rating from me. I have been wanting a Poke place in Spokane for so long so I am so excited for this place to open! I went for their soft opening. Be aware the parking lot is small so you might have to park elsewhere and walk over. They're located right next to Fleur de Sel (the crepe place) and within walking distance of the hospitals! I got two build your own bowls. There were more options than what their menu said so hooray! The large size is HUGE! The fish and produced tasted fresh and delicious. I chose a bunch of spicy options and they actually had a kick in my mouth. Yum! Two gripes: some of the poke scoops were not full (they were like half or two third full). However it didn't matter and I was still full. I hope it was an oversight or they weren't sure how they would do on their opening day. Second gripe is they don't do punchcards...yet hahaha. Update: I came back again. Food is still fresh to def. They gave me whole scoops this time. The moved the crab from the topping side over to the scoop side. Sadness. Yum. This place is so good. I got the small which was two scoops of whatever protein I wanted and three toppings with a sauce for $12.99. The two proteins that I chose were squid and crab salad, both were fantastic. I got cucumbers, avocados and cilantro and had them add the Poke sauce and siracha to the top which was a little bit sweet and spicy. Very good. I can't wait to come back. read more

After a long week's worth of eating concession stand food at the Spokane Convention Center, along with heavily laden creams and sauces atop of pastas, chowders, and tortillas, it was refreshing to come to Poke Express. From what was told to us, it appears to be a relatively new establishment that took over a Subway location. Upon entering, the place appeared clean. The staff spoke broken English but it didn't hinder our order. We ordered three different bowls. The portions were decent but compared to other poke bowl establishments, it was kind of on the smaller size. There was a decent selection of fish which tasted fresh with good texture, and a fair amount of veggies/sides. Their house poke sauce and unagi sauce were delicious which many poke bowl spots have fallen short. Their price point is on the more expensive end, but I'd pay this amount over fast food any day. read more

My poke was pretty good. I had a 2 scoop bowl for $10.99. I chose octopus and spicy tuna for my proteins. Over all, a nice healthy option downtown Spokane. The venue is clean but feels like a fast food restaurant. Which it sort of is, and no problem with that. I would probably take my bowl home next time. I liked that you get the veggies/additions you want, but you have a limited number (5 I think?) and they only put a small amount on top of your rice (lots of that! White or brown) and protein choice. If I go again, I would ask for 2 or 3 of one choice (probably seaweed salad and avocado? would depend on my mood) rather than 6 different things. Just me; it was good with everything too.) Also, there are a lot of sauce choices but everything is behind the counter so hard to know what each one really is, as there are no descriptions. If they were sitting out by the utensils area, we could then sample and go back for more also. I'd love that and be more apt to return! The server was nice but a little hard to understand because of her accent and answered my questions very briefly so I sort of gave up. But overall, pretty good and healthy! read more

Fresh, flavorful and fast. You can build an excellent meal here for around $8-12. For those counting calories or trying to eat well you can hardly do any better. You can build it up with brown rice or a spinach base, then layer on salmon or tuna with or without sauce. I'd you do decide to get saucy there's plenty to choose from and they carry a nice punch. The miso soup is also very good and around $2 or less. Atmosphere is clean and inviting. Quick tip: if you're in a hurry, do not order ice cream. My wife and I visited today and waited 30 minutes before receiving our ice cream order. Yes, the ice cream is delicious, but ice cream orders are put to the side as poke orders keep coming in, making a frustrating visit as a customer.
