I decided it'd be cool after Toronto instead of going the same way back to go up east-northeast and come back into the US from the Thousands Islands Bridge to see something different. We arrived in Kingston at dinnertime hungry but unsure what to eat. I looked on Yelp after parking in downtown, but was still unsure. My girlfriend & I needed to use restroom and popped in a hotel. We asked the front desk recommendations. She recommended Dianne's very close walk. We ate outside. It was balmy for Kingston in early June with temps in the 70's F around 8 PM; their average high temp in early June is only upper 60's F (around 20 C). Our server was friendly. She said people are enjoying the first really warm evening of the season. We both got their fish n' chips. It's an Alaskan Pacific haddock as opposed to cod or others used. This is superior to other fish n' chips I've had. This is delicious. Fries were good too, but the fish was the real star and about the best fried fish I've had.

Since we're not locals in the area, we opted for the poutine then my daughter opted for the fish taco. Her food was actually good but rather a very small serving. Either that, or we're used to American-sized servings. The poutine we had was the seafood type since we figured out, they should have amazing seafood since we're near water. Flavor-wise, I think they needed more. The sauce that came with it did not seem to give justice to the dish. Nice location though. And service was good. Food, unfortunately, felt short of my expectations.

During my brief time at Fort Drum I couldn't stand eating on post, so I sought out a healthy alternative. This location is conveniently located along a busy thoroughfare in a major commercial district. I walked in went straight to the counter as it wasn't busy. Think of a Chipoltle setup as far as the arrangement of the toppings, but with an emphasis on whole grains and vegetables. They offer a variety of creative bowls consisting of base options such as purple rice, quinoa, and rice noodles, with toppings that include chicken, tuna, and sweet potatoes. Additionally, they have broths, smoothies, and even tacos. Being at peace with my decision, I selected the Buddah Bowl, a delicious assortment of sweet potatoes, spinach, quinoa, black beans, red salsa, and chick peas! It was delicious, hearty, and filling and best of all - it was all for less than $10.

It's all super fresh from what I can tell. I have been here a few times and my salads are always amazing. I get extra protein and there is PLENTY! The drinks are also tasty and refreshing. The flavors are always very differnet. I had a hibiscus tea last time and it was delightful, just watch for sugar content.

We scoped out a few places and landed here for a change from the typical pub vibe, Italian pasta joints around the corner, or chains like Jack Astor's. We beat the lunch crowd, arriving just before 2 PM. Service was great--we were seated immediately and ordered a few tapas: some roasted Brussels sprouts and a selection of meat options including Persian BBQ lamb, achiote grilled chicken, and sticky pork ribs. The chicken was my least favorite, though it wasn't bad. Everything else was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I'd really like to come back another time for proper drinks--they have an impressive wine list and a nice selection of sangrias that caught my eye. Definitely worth a return visit if you're passing through Kingston.

They have a private party room downstairs which is also where the restrooms are located so the restaurant isn't really accessible. They recommend 3-4 dishes per person. This can be expensive as most dishes are in the 20 dollar range. The steak with chimichurri sauce was excellent!!! But was also $44.00 for about 13 small slices. We also ordered a Thai green curry cod that comes with cashews infused in the sauce. We had a nut allergy at the table so they were able to remove the cashews to make the dish nut free. Service was decent but this is a dining environment where you are not rushed out the door. Dishes come out sporadically so you are meant for slow dining. This is a good place to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want something different while in Kingston.

When we got there, we were greeted and sat at the hibachi grill instantly. There was one other table, with about 5 people, when we were sat. Our waitress was over within a couple minutes to take our food and drink orders. Within a couple minutes of ordering, my wife and I were brought a ginger salad and miso soup. The ginger salad was your typical ginger salad with crunchy vegetables and bright dressing. The miso soup was some of the most flavorful miso soup I have ever had, and it made me want a second bowl seeing it was a colder day. To start I ordered a spicy maki combo sushi, which consisted of spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, and spicy salmon rolls. The sushi came out relatively fast, and was very presentable. All of the sushi tasted fresh, and did not have that fishy taste that I have had with getting these rolls at other restaurants. After a little while, our hibachi chef came to our table, greeted us, and had us move to the seats in front of the grill, seeing we were the only two at the table. He started off by making sure he had the correct orders for us, and then lit the grill on fire, which had a very nice warmth to it. The chef did a great job putting on a show for us, while cooking our food! Our chef also had some good throws, when myself and my wife both caught pieces of broccoli in our mouths. The chef was also funny and squirted water into both of our mouths, from a bottle that had a top that looked like a child was peeing the liquid out . The chef made sure to tell us everything he was doing while he cooked our food. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi with fried rice, vegetables, and 2 shrimp. The vegetables had a great cook on them, with that distinct teriyaki flavor. The steak and chicken were both cooked well. I was gladly surprised the chicken didn't have that dry/squeaky texture it some times can. The rice was okay, it had good flavor but seemed slightly over done. The 2 pieces of shrimp were good but nothing to write home about. Overall, we had a great time. Our hibachi chef was amazing, and my wife and I will be back in the future.
