    Poki bowl

I stopped by Poki DC for a quick lunch, and I was very happy with my poke bowl. The assembly line style made ordering a breeze. Also, they have so many option for each step of the assembly line - the base, protein (2-3), toppings (up to 5), sauces (1-2), and garnishes (1). To me, the prices were pretty fair, I think my 2 protein bowl was around 16 bucks for a large bowl. There definitely was enough food for two servings Poki DC definitely will stay in my rotation for lunch options in the area.

I ordered a takeout bowl from here this past Sunday and it was made and delivered pretty quickly, which was nice! Everything about the bowl was wonderful (marinated tuna, marinated salmon, mango, avocado, eel sauce, yum yum sauce, edamame, crab salad, seaweed shreds, sushi rice, etc) except for the mango - it wasn't ripe AT ALL and was just a pile of extra crunchy/bitter mango cubes. If I order from Poki again I'll try to remember to avoid the mango!

My sister and I came here for a quick bite to eat with friends before she went back to New York City. When we went up to order it was a little difficult to tell the employee what we wanted because the music was really loud and we couldn't really hear what he was saying & he couldn't really hear what we were saying. He was really nice and did a good job giving us a decent amount of fish as well as the toppings that we asked for but it was a little bit pricy. I paid $35 for two bowls, which isn't too bad but I think you should get at least one or two more toppings for that price. I did eat the entire bowl, unlike my friends and sister, and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back if I was in the area and looking for a quick poki bowl to munch on.

FAV poké spot in the area. AMAZING price compared to other similar places. I usually get the organic mixed greens as a base with the marinated tuna and salmon. (They also have the option of three proteins). The options are plentiful and all free, with the exception of the avocado (+1.50). Usually most places charge extra for seaweed salad and masago, so it was nice to not get an up charge for those. They also put on a decent amount of each requested topping. There are also many sauce choices that have a wide range of flavors, so there is definitely something for everyone. Love love love this place and always go here for my poké fix!! I recommend to anyone looking for cheap and tasty food! 10/10

Great addition to Bethesda! Build-your-own rice bowls. Very fresh fish, particularly the salmon. Wide selection of vegetables and other toppings. Many sauces to choose from. There are both Japanese- and Hawaiian-inspired choices and also plenty of other ingredients to choose from. Lines are infrequent and usually move fairly quickly. Overall, a great place. Ahi Tuna, Crab Salad, Poke Bowl, Zoodle Rice Combo and Zoodle Rice Combo. Things I would get from here on a daily basis.

I end up going for poke often. It's an easy and quick lunchtime option. I tell myself is healthy too. This location is bright and they've got plenty of seating. Staff is friendly and patient when you're trying to make your selections from all the topping options. Be sure to sign up for the rewards program!

I give it 5 stars for exceeding my expectations. I wanted to try something I've never had before and after reading the reviews I decided to give this place a try. And even after reading the reviews and looking at pictures I had no idea what I was walking into. But let me tell you, the food is fresh and it's a lot for the amount of money you spend. Usually after eating I feel bloated and tired, this food gave me energy!- and I haven't had that in a long time. I sent pictures to my friends raving about this place. I wouldn't say I could eat this food everyday but it will definitely be high on my food list! Brown rice, tuna, salmon, crabmeat salad, seaweed salad, green onion, corn, mango, pineapple, cucumber, sesame sauce & rice puff [ i allowed them to put an additional sauce on there i can't remember what it's called]

This is by far my favorite poke place in the area. My favorite part is that it's cheap, but still a big portion. Fish is fresh and I like how the fish gets tossed in the sauce instead of drizzled on top. Plenty of toppings to choose from. Make sure to get a good amount of toppings to get your money's worth and also make your bowl super delicious!

Stopped by Poke DC for lunch this week and was so happy with the food i received! They were following strict COVID guidelines: requiring masks, keeping 6 feet distance, etc. They had several fresh food options to choose from to build your meal and helpful employees for a first timer like me. I got a poke bowl and chose steamed sushi rice as my base, although they had several unique base options such as zoodles, brown rice and quinoa, and soba noodles! I went with the small protein options and decided on fresh salmon and tuna. They allowed me as many toppings as I'd like and it was hard to narrow it down from their tons of choices. Overall, I thought the food was fresh, reasonably priced, and there was great speedy service! My only regret is not grabbing a gong cha tea as well! I will be back:)

The size of the matcha cheesecake that is sold for 3.50 per slice. The 1.50 mochi is bigger for sure.

Shocked about the size of the Matcha Cheesecake. It was $3.50 for this tiny slice. Mochi ice cream is definitely about the same size for $1.50.

I was somewhat surprised that the restaurant was completely empty during lunch. However, I remembered that I dropped by a couple of days before Christmas, so folks probably where trying to head home or doing last-minute Christmas shopping. I took advantage of the sesame beef bento box lunch special, which was about $13 for the lunch special. I believe the lunch special, that includes a choice between various bento boxes and two maki rolls, from 11 am to 3 pm. My bento box included a good portion of sesame beef, a salad, some rice, and a three-piece California roll. Since the California roll was kind of thick, I'll say the roll was more like a four-piece standard roll. I was a bit surprised the bento box did not include a soup and/or dumplings, but it was what it was. Overall, I thought the bento box was quite tasty, and I really loved that the beef was crispy. It was slightly different style of preparation that I'm used to, but I think it really worked. The staff was very nice, and the restaurant was very clean. There is a paid public parking lot a few feet from the restaurant. However, I think the restaurant might have its own parking area, so double check before paying for parking.

I've been here for takeout/delivery twice now since I've lived in the area. As far as a "takeout"…read moreChinese restaurant, I think they're one of the very best in the area - there are a lot to choose from - and the people there are super nice. The first time I went the owner (I believe) was super apologetic for a mistake and basically gave me one entree for free to make up for it which was more than he needed to do. All the food is top notch, but maybe my favorite thing about this place is the food selection. I'm a chicken guy and they have a couple options that not all Chinese restaurants do that I absolutely love. First, you can get the General Tsos with white meat. Their General Tsos is very good anyway and with the white meat, it's outstanding. Second, they have chicken dumplings which you can get steamed which is another favorite of mine. I admittedly haven't tried those yet, but I will next time. But regardless of what your favorites are, they have an excellent selection. I have only one complaint about Bite of Asia. In a trend that seems to be happening more and more at Chinese restaurants around here, they do not have house made hot mustard (only the packets). I literally go to certain restaurants just because they have house made hot mustard and I love it. And while I realize I can make my own, if I'm ordering food, it's at least partially because I don't want to put in any effort. BITE OF ASIA, PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING YOUR OWN HOT MUSTARD and if you do, I promise I will order from you much more often.

The miso soup was incredibly salty to the point where I couldn't eat most of it. The Vietnamese spring rolls were okay but maybe different than I expected-- I like mine with vegetables usually and it was literally all meat in it. They were juicy, just not what I prefer. The pad see ew and green beans just didn't have any flavor to them. The Szechuan didn't even have any heat to it. I ended up having to add soy sauce and a lot of chili oil to make it flavorful enough to enjoy. Also, this cost me over $50 so it was not worth the price, even for the portion sizes. Maybe it was just an off day.. not sure but I was definitely disappointed.

True Food Kitchen (TKF) shows that it's never too late to make an amazing second 1st impression!…read more Back in mid-2018, my dining companion and I gave TFK a try because we had known about Founder Dr. Andrew Weil's work in integrative medicine and were curious how he would apply his healthful ways into cuisine. While nothing was fundamentally wrong (the Burger was certainly fine), the food tasted of stereotypical "health food," i.e. too bland (especially the Fish Taco). Fast forward ~7.5 years, we decided to give TKF another shot for brunch with their Grilled Sustainable Salmon and Blueberry Pancakes. Both dishes impressed us: full of flavor, bright, and healthful while still very satisfying! The Salmon was cooked through while still moist, buttery, and slightly smoky on the exterior for the light grilling, andthe accompanying crunchy Snap Peas, Organic Wild Rice, and creamy Thai Basil Vinaigrette provided a refreshing and warming complement to the fish. As for the pancakes, they were moist and had a nice hearty graininess (Buckwheat?) together with Organic Blueberry Compote, Greek Yogurt (a naturally tart and lighter alternative to butter), and Maple Syrup for a sweet, tart, and vibrant accent. Since the compote portion was a bit small, we asked for a bit more to which our server kindly obliged! Both dishes left a strong impression on us that we returned this afternoon for both as well as a Blackened version of the Grilled Salmon. While a bit warmer in temperature and spiced in the crust, the inherent oily flavors were actually accented in the blackened version to provide a nice contrast to the plain Grilled Salmon. We savored trying both versions side-by-side! Meanwhile, we enjoyed the Pancakes as a lovely dessert to share! In terms of service, Aubrey made our experience feel like that of fine dining with a relaxing vibe. Attentive and welcoming, she also helped to seamlessly rectified a bit of miscommunication on both of our parts (we meant 1 order of adult portion Pancakes that comes with 2 flapjacks rather than the literal 1 pancake for the kids' version). In the end, we enjoyed having one pancake at a time (once with extra Blueberry Compote, then the next one with the Maple Syrup)! All in all, TFK has matured culinarily by finding the optimal balance of pleasing the palate with fulfiling its mission to source clean ingredients prepared in healthful fashion. Combined with outstanding service and a bright green garden-like ambiance, TFK is great place for diverse diets and those looking to satisfy their mindful eating side!
