    Hawaiian-ish bowl
    Ebony L.

My partner and I were craving something flavorful and decided to try Okonomi Asian Grill for takeout--and we're so glad we did! We both ordered the Hawaiian-Ish bowls--one with chicken teriyaki and the other with Korean chicken. Both were super tasty, well-seasoned, and the portions were very generous. For our first time trying it, we were seriously impressed. The food traveled well, was still hot when we got it, and the prices were very reasonable. We're already planning to go back--definitely a new favorite in the rotation!

Okonomi has been on my list to try and I'm glad I stopped by for lunch! I was lucky enough to find parking. The parking lot is small but the restaurant has two reserved parking spaces for the business pick up orders. I ordered the Hawaiian ish bowl with teriyaki chicken, white rice, Mac salad, and the pineapple fish sauce. I really enjoyed the chicken! The Mac salad okay. I feel like if you have a Hawaiian bowl the Mac needs to be 100%. However, the bowl was fresh and a generous portion. I feel like if I ate the whole thing I would be super full. Service was friendly and efficient. I wish they offered musubis! Will be back to try a different bowl w/o Mac salad.

    Lemongrass Chicken Bowl

Okonomi was really delicious and filling, so I'm surprised it was just my friend and me along with a couple others getting food to-go. People need to try this place more!! I wish it was closer to where I live so I could stop by more often for fresh, tasty food for a good price. My friend and I stopped by sometime last week for dinner. We were able to place our orders at the kiosk, and the food was ready within 10 minutes. Some ingredients were already prepared in advance, but the proteins are grilled fresh to order. BUILD YOUR OWN BOWL: LEMONGRASS CHICKEN - 13.50 + jasmine rice, sriracha mayo, chopped lettuce, do chua (Vietnamese pickled carrots and daikon), corn salsa, garlic chips, crushed peanuts +2 for HAWAIIAN MAC SCOOP The bowl was huge and the food was filled to the brim. I ended up saving half of it for lunch the next day. The lemongrass chicken was citrusy and savory, which went well with all the toppings I added. It really was the best part of the bowl with its deep, grilled flavor and umami. The do chua added some acidity and brightness, sriracha mayo added some spice and creaminess. The corn salsa provided a good texture. The Hawaiian mac scoop was more creamy than it was cheesy and my favorite part of the bowl after the chicken. I would definitely add the mac scoop to any bowl in the future. I do think there's more rice than I needed, but I also eat more toppings than rice. Absolutely delicious. I would recommend stopping by for sure. If I lived closer, I would be a regular because it's better than other fast-casual options that we have in Arlington/DC.

Shut the front door! For some reason I had a very tough time finding this place. I thought it was near Lotte or Popeyes, but it's at the shopping strip right before the traffic circle. There are a few spots for parking for Okonomi and the Halal place next door. It's kinda like an Asian Chipotle, but instead of standing in a line to choose items it's semi present ordered online or via the kiosk. It's not the prettiest place inside, but service was great! The food. Holy moly, presentation was legit. The taste. On fire! It was so darn tasty and so much food! I ordered the lemongrass chicken w garlic rice w fish sauce. Sooooo good!

I hope you're not planning to dine in because this place has like 4 or 5 tables inside! It's more of a take-out place and it's a good one at that. If Asians sell KBBQ Chipotle-style, this would be it. I ordered everything on their menu for a big family dinner and I liked almost all of them. The ginger chicken with garlic rice combination takes the crown for me. It tasted super delicious and made me feel like I'm getting all the good nutrients. It's very light and healthy. The corn salsa is also another ingredient I recommend. I thought bibimbap would taste good but unfortunately, that one is at the bottom of my list. I like that touch of fresh mint leaves with the grilled meat. The smell and taste were heightened by it. I live 20 minutes away and placed the order online before heading out. When I got there, all my food was ready. Parking can be a challenge as there aren't that many spots but people aren't there for too long because this place is signed to be taken out. There isn't much décor or staff for you to experience. Food would be your main focus here.

I love "BYOB" type places, and when I heard about Okonomi, I had to give this a try! The Food: I had to try the Korean Chicken bowl + Garlic Fried Rice. All the toppings looked so good, but I only got the ones that I frequently eat. I had to add the mac salad to my bowl as well. The food looked hot nd fresh as well, which is a plus. Overall, all the ingredients and toppings were cooked well with full of flavor! And they pack the bowl nicely and generously too! The Service: Service was great! Was greeted by staff and they were all friendly and welcoming. Service was pretty fast when I was there, so no long wait times. The Atmosphere: Plenty of seating inside. The space is nice and clean. No complaints. Overall, a 5/5! Highly recommend Okonomi, I'll be back again for sure

My friend lives in NOVA and has been talking about this place for a while. She picked us up lunch one day so I could try it. I got a Lemongrass Bowl. It was yummy and quite filling. Everything tasted really fresh, which I appreciated!

I was influenced by Keith Lee to review this establishment. Okonomi is not a chain despite having that build your own bowl concept like most fast-casual chains do. In my opinion, this place is worth visiting since you get so much food here. Funny enough when I got here there were alot of signs where I'd have to order online so I did. Waited in the car about 15-20 minutes and my order was ready. Thinking they would just be take out only, I went inside to find out I could have just walked in instead! It's okay though, I was just being precautious knowing the hype could have made the wait longer. I got the Hawaiian-ish bowl which consisted of Korean Chicken, Hawaiian Mac Salad, Do Chua, Cucumbers, Togarashi pepper flakes on Jasmine Rice. You also do get a choice of sauce so I got the Pineapple Fish Sauce too. Since I was able to sit down I decided to review on the spot. The bowl first of all is gigantic for what you pay for. It is absolutely heavy and think that's a plus for how much food you are getting for. The food was delicious and with the fish sauce the bowl reminded me of Com Tam. It's a Vietnamese Rice Dish that also used fish sauce but different. The Mac Salad was also great and the amount of rice they give you is also very generous; I was tempted to just get garlic fried rice instead but I think rice with fish sauce was a better choice. I also did get the Vietnamese Coffee... and I would not recommend it. It's not a lot for how much you pay for and it feels like you are paying for a shot of it. Maybe that's just me but the cup is small and when comparing to other places I could get more for the same price somewhere else. Okonomi Asian Grill is still great as a lunch/dinner option. I hope this place succeeds!

MTO fresh meat and plenty of toppings! Easy ordering at a kiosk, this is like a Korean-Hawaiian fusion chipotle. They give you a lot of rice so mix your bowl really well so you get even bites of topping/rice. The Hawaiian-ish comes with mac salad which is one of my faves. The creaminess pulls it all together topped with the pineapple fish sauce. The spicy cucumber is marinated very well- quality of Korean restaurant banchan. Limited indoor seating but still can eat there while it's fresh. Hidden gem don't look past it!

Had the hawaiian-ish bowl. The pork was very good, the flavor went great with the rice, veggies and mac. I did find the mac a little watery and lacking flavor. The pork compensated and balanced the bowl. I'll be back to try something else.

Okonomi needs more recognition!! It's a great place to grab a quick and filling bite to eat. You can't go wrong with any of their options but my personal favorites are the Korean pork and Korean chicken. It's basically an Asian chipotle with a smaller, but wayyyyy tastier menu. The restaurant itself is very barebones but it's the food that counts. One thing I real like is that they have deals with other local restaurants like TeaDM and offer discounts to students, teachers, and military. Bubble tea and Okonomi is the perfect lunch combo. Please do yourself a favor by supporting a local business and leaving with a happy and full belly at the same time!

Finally coming in for lunch did not disappoint. We tried their "3 Bites & Small Plates" deal for $25, and it was absolutely worth it. We went with the feta dip (of course), cheddar cheese curds, and tikka masala meatballs. For a non-Indian restaurant, the tikka masala was surprisingly on point - really flavorful and well-balanced. The cheese curds were super satisfying, especially dipped into the sauces they come with. But the star of the show is still the hot honey feta dip. The bread is lightly charred, giving it a subtle smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with the warm, salty, gooey feta and sweet honey. It's one of those dishes you think about after you leave. For drinks, I had the Wild Blueberry Lemon Drop - very refreshing and definitely on the stronger side (it is a martini, so no complaints). We also tried the watermelon margarita - pro tip: ask for it with tajin, it makes a huge difference. For entrées, we got the lunch grilled cheese and tomato soup, which was exactly what you'd hope for - comforting and classic. We added candied bacon to the grilled cheese and didn't regret it at all. We also had the quarter pound burger, which tasted fresh and really hit the spot. The fries were perfect - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. And yes - I loved the hot honey feta dip so much that I actually ordered it as my entrée too, no regrets at all. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and the overall vibe inside is very chill and lowkey. We sat outside by the fireplace, and even with the weather warming up, it was surprisingly comfortable with the fans going. Definitely recommend - whether you're dining in or ordering out, you can't go wrong here!

Delivery: well packaged for a long trip to DC and it remained fresh and hot. Food: Sweet potato tater tots El Lomo Saltado Both of these selections were AMAZING! Allow me to break down the flavors: Biscuit: gosh this biscuit was buttery and soft. And yes, the juices from the steak did not make it soggy. But back to the biscuit...the top was flaky and the inside was soft! Soft and buttery. Egg: I asked for a well done fried egg (the main dish contains over easy) the egg was perfectly cooked and delicious. Steak: the steak pieces were generous and the seasoning on the meat...dangerous! There was a slice of provolone cheese melted on the egg and the sandwich also contained pieces of potatoes and tomatoes inside. Food was a mixed bag. We started with the yuk hae and mandu, which were solid but not particularly memorable. A note for the mandu was that it came out soggy and sat in water which was a bit disappointing for the price point. The meat quality was excellent though, with great marbling throughout the meal. The banchan leaned lighter in seasoning than I'm used to, but the broccoli and marinated quail eggs were standouts. I also appreciated the variety of salts served alongside the meats. My favorite was the volcanic salt! Service was where things fell short. We felt rushed or almost transaction for most of the meal, and it seemed like closing duties took priority over the guest experience. Tea refills took a while, banchan refills had to be requested multiple times, and there wasn't much guidance throughout the grilling experience. We had to ask what cuts we were eating and what each salt was. At this price point, I expect a little more storytelling and attention to detail. The grill also ran extremely hot, making it easy for some cuts to cook past our preferred temperature and constant smoke blew into the middle seat's face. A few tips: don't wear your nicest clothes because the ventilation isn't on the same level as Seoul Prime or Ingle. Make a reservation if you want a grill table, and don't be afraid to ask for banchan refills!! Would I come back for Korean BBQ? Probably not. I'd personally choose Seoul Prime or Ingle. That said, I saw several main dishes that looked promising, and I'd be open to giving the restaurant another shot. The foundation is there, but for the price and the hype, I think the overall experience needs a bit more refinement.
