I visited Poke One and a Half at Fashion Valley Mall w/ a friend and decided to order drinks with our meal. I got a grapefruit tea for my friend since that's her favorite, and for myself, I wasn't sure what to choose. I asked the cashier for a recommendation and made it clear that we don't like drinks that are too sweet. She suggested the pineapple tea and said it was one of the best, so I trusted her recommendation. Unfortunately, after sitting down and taking just one sip, I found the drink to be extremely sweet and not enjoyable at all. I went back to the counter right away and politely asked if I could exchange it for something less sweet, especially since I had barely touched it. The cashier checked with a coworker, who said they didn't think anything could be done. I then asked if they could confirm with the manager. The final response was that they couldn't replace it, and the only suggestion was to pour some out and add ice--which didn't really address the issue since the sweetness comes from the syrup. Having worked in restaurant management myself, I know that when a customer is dissatisfied--especially after just one sip--the right approach is to apologize and offer a simple replacement. It's a small cost that goes a long way in creating a positive customer experience. This experience left me disappointed. It felt like the focus was more on making the sale than ensuring customer satisfaction. With better customer service and a willingness to stand behind their product, this could have been handled very differently. It felt like it was handled by ghetto people. They could use some business sense. read more

I used to really like this poke shop in Fashion Valley mall, but I feel like the last two times I've visited my experience wasn't as good. First off all, the two guys working couldn't have seemed less enthused to be there. Like I get it, this most likely isn't your career but the look on their faces they seemed downright miserable. My bowl was so sloppily put together and they put an ungodly amount of sauce on the fish. Completely overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. Also the quality of the fish, from what I could tell under the gobs of sauce, was solid but it was pretty early in the day and the bar where all the toppings and fish are kept was messy and not well-stocked. I'd try it again, it's one of the only places in the wall you can get something quick and relatively healthy. Hoping these were isolated incidents and they tighten up their ship. read more

Stopped at Poki One N Half for a quick little bite! I decided on the savory green tea rice ball and the spicy tuna rice ball. The savory green tea rice ball was a flavor I haven't seen/eaten before and I am so glad I got it because WOW it was delicious. Now, you might be wondering why the 3/5 stars were given when I absolutely loved the savory green tea rice ball. The spicy tuna rice ball was bland and not the least bit spicy. The structure of the rice ball wasn't great as the rice would consistantly fall out and was difficult to eat even after following the instructions on transparent paper. After eating my two rice balls, I was still wanting another savory green tea and so I decided to order one. The second one was super dry and had no flavor at all. The inconsistency really threw me off. Wished the flavor was consistent because that first savory green tea rice ball was amazing! read more

The staff are decent, not super friendly nor rude, they just seem like they're there. The poke is alright, I'm not always a fan of warm sushi rice, but extremely turned off by how parts of the rice were mushy. Wouldn't necessarily seek this place out, but it satisfies my poke craving enough. read more

Poke didn't taste super fresh, but all the options look delicious. l loved picking out all my toppings ( which were complementary with the bowl). The toppings were plentiful as well. I like that avocado is not an additional cost for toppings. Oddly their ginger is only available on the side in prepackaged packets. Awful experience i request 2 kids meals & cashier charge me 2 regular large bowls I told the.manager he refuse to give me my receipts & he told me I bought the bowls somewhere else which was a disaster unprofessional crew with no communication between employees, unorganized & rude. . I usually am happy with the Poke 1 /2 within San Diego. I understand it had been a while, maybe 3 months or so maybe there had been corporate changes. My only gripe that led me to write a review amd give it 2 stars was that I was so disappointed by the small scoops. I paid for two extra scoops to be a normal large, and even then I don't even think it was 8 oz. I ate it but I'm not encouraged to come back amd I'm buying chicken from Panda Express next door just to feel full after ordering. Overall, this was a Meh experience. read more

I love getting poki one n half. I honestly think it's the best poke place in SoCal. This was the first time ordering at this location, I usually frequent the convoy location. I do have to say though, the location in convoy gives you a little more. I always get the same exact bowl: a large with the choice of 5 fish with white rice, mild, adding on all the toppings but it just looked way less for the same price. The fish doesn't look as fresh and the avocados were starting to brown but hey, I'm still alive! The seafood didn't smell fishy at all, everything was easy to order, the employees were friendly, and there's even a temperature check at the entrance. Was pretty excited that this spot opened at the mall and I wasn't disappointed! Staff was super friendly and quick with my order. The whole process was swift and efficient and probably took less than 5 minutes from me waiting in line to paying for my meal. The fish here is fresh but it's just a tad overpriced for my liking, which is why I docked a star in my review. I've been a fan of Poki One N Half since they opened their first chain here in SD and have been to most of their locations. So imagine how excited I was to see this chain in the food court of Fashion Valley Mall! Good price for all that you get. I got a small bowl with salmon and octopus, half rice, half salad and most all the toppings (love that they offer pineapple). Sauce I chose was spicy poke. By the time I was done eating , it's enough to feed two of me and I was done for the day. The staff there was soo friendly and efficient and got me in and out in no time at all. Workers were already closing and packing up to leave by 8:30 PM. All workers there were also rude, short and looked as if they were very angry when I tried to order. They also told people to leave when they entered around 8:42 PM and proceeded to use their cell phones. Multiple people walking into the store at 8:43 PM and 8:46 PM I would not go back even if they were the only ones open and I was starving. Rude workers, mediocre quality food and flat out not making items when asked because they're too lazy to work during work hours. Haven't been to FV in a long time and while I'm there I go to the food court. There is soooo much construction going on. And what happened to the food court?? I see they are renovating and bringing in different eating places. Not very much choice for fast food right now. I love poke. So I headed to Poke One and a Half. Where is the fish in my dish? I got the small bowl which is 2 servings of fish. I'm disappointed. They use a small ice cream scoop. The bowl is more fillers than actual poke. I'm from Hawaii and that's not how we do it. A recent addition to the food court line up at fashion valley mall. They are still adhering to CoVid-19 safety protocols, staff wearing mask and there is an automatic temperature checker at the entrance. Their Poki Bowls are a must. This is my final stop on the way out on my last 2 visits to the mall. The vegetables, fish and toppings are fresh and they give a generous serving with your order. I love the "Hot Poki Sauce" it gives great flavor to the salmon and onions. I take a few chopstick full bites in the car for the ride home...lol. read more

Beginning this review with info I couldn't find anywhere else on the internet: the fish is not pre-marinated and they have a gluten-free poke sauce. Ask the staff to change gloves and avoid the standard gluten poke fare like imitation crab and you should be good to go! Other than that Poki One N Half is a pretty standard poke place. I love that the "small" size is still a ton of food and I love the chipotle-style assembly line concept for poke. The day I went some of the toppings like the avocado were not super fresh but honestly that can happen anywhere and it was just one experience! I had salmon, tuna, cucumber, seaweed salad, dried seaweed, avacado, edamame, corn, pickled ginger, white onion, green onion, and for the base I did half brown rice and lettuces. For the sauce I used mike poke sauce and sesame oil. Oh and sesame seeds too. It was awesome! Highly recommend this place! read more

So the girl working literally looked at me like I was inconveniencing her! she looked horribly depressed and like she hated being there and doing that job. the soda machine was janky tasting specifically the mtn dew wasn't the right color. one girl took her ten minute break right when I got there so she's fine, but the one who took my order was just extra bad service, and barely scooped food for me. We've been on a poke bowl binge for the past couple weeks. Decided to stop by on the way to an appointment today. We made the mistake of looking this up on google maps and the pin drop is at PF Chang's. We had to find out this is located inside the food court at Fashion Valley Mall! There is no indoor dining it's just a small food court shop but there is plenty of seating in the food court area. We felt the fish wasn't as fresh here as the other locations. Also since the doors are always open we noticed several flies getting Into the food as well. Overall it's a convenient location if you are at Fashion Valley mall but other than that this isn't the location we will go to. read more
