Great experience. We did re-finance with Poli group. Initially, we called several loan officers for the re-finance rates, among which Poli has the best rate at 15 years fixed. So we started the business with them. The closing was extremely fast. It took us only 23 days to close!! I was told that they lock the rate for 25 days, which is probably why the rate is lower as longer locking period would require a higher cost and you have to pay for it, either through closing fee or a higher interest rate. But this locking period is enough for re-fin since their process is very fast. They did say that if for some unfortunate reason the process does not close within 25 days due to their issue, they will extend it for a longer locking period. We did not go through that pain and was able to close with 25 days! Overall, it was a great experience for us. We highly recommend Poli Mortgage Group and will definitely be back again when doing another loan. read more

Poli Mortgage Group came highly recommended to us. It was possible they were just talking about Chip, who is the owner. We reached out to remortgage our home (with such good rates right now!) and have barely received a coherent response. The first time we asked for 4 different scenarios (15 year, 30 year, etc) and the email we got only outlined one. The second time we asked for someone else, and he called back with follow up questions, then sent back an email. No grammar, no formatting (something that should be sent in a table is sent in a spaced out in a document that's impossible to read). I work at a IT finance consulting firm. When we send quotes to our clients, it's sent in a formatted excel doc or in a portal that they can access all the information. Our rates weren't as good as the friend who recommended us, which I understand is sometimes the circumstance, but the email's we've received have felt like no one is paying any attention. I was dealing with 2 mortgages over a 6 month period-a refinance and a new purchase. It was very challenging but thanks to Jesse Carbeau and Sara Zagaglia, it was quite smooth. They went above and beyond so my involvement was reduced. That was quite important to me because of my limited time. I had the VERY BEST possible experience with Poli. I had initially applied with Amerisave which was the WORST possible experience. I realized after 14 weeks, and their ridiculous requests for the same documents 10 times over, that this was a sleazy outfit. Time to move on! At 18 weeks, same story. Later read BBB reports on Amerisave and found hundreds of others with same story. Shame on BankRate.com for enabling such sleaze. I stumbled upon Poli by accident and gave them a call. Talked with Jess and requested he review my numbers, etc. He said this was a slam dunk that he guaranteed would close within 40 days. I could tell from the questions I asked and his responses this was the real deal. A super efficient, professional company. ALWAYS could reach someone immediately. Closed in 30 days !!! I really wish I had shopped around before I went with these people. I trusted the person I worked with because he was the father of someone I had worked with, but I think that was a mistake. The lack of communication and professionalism was really surprising to me. I definitely got the impression that my loan wasn't really worth them bothering with. I sent many e-mails that got no response, and often was not called back in response to voicemail. They needed anything they needed from me right away, but they took quite a bit of time getting back to me with information I needed from them. They also dragged their feet even trying to obtain the information they needed from my condo association. They said that they had asked for the infomation a week before last Thursday, and asked me to call the condo association about it. The management company told me that they do not give this information out without the condo owner's consent, and nobody had asked me for my consent , so it sounds like the mortgage brokers just never called. By the time they bothered to mention it to me, they needed the information right away. This seemed to be no big deal to them, but since my home is the biggest purchase I will ever make in my life, it is actually pretty important to me. I would definitely say this company does a little less than the bare minimum to give good customer service. I was surprised to find a poor review on this company. I started working with them over a year ago as they are expanding nationwide. I have bought and sold many homes over the last 35 years and never have I dealt with a more responsive and involved company. From the moment I contacted them they were on top of everything. Glenn Cira at Poli Mortgage Group was truly a pleasure to work with. He defies all of the negative stereotypes of a typical loan officer / mortgage agent. He was knowledgeable and responsive, and he went out of his way to help me obtain the right deal and get it closed -- all in addition to providing the lowest rate I was able to find after fielding tiresome calls from over 20 mortgage lenders. Honestly, even if Glenn had turned out to be 1/8 of a point higher than someone else, I would still have gone with him because of how pleasant he was to work with and his ability and commitment to closing the deal. Specifically, Glenn did three things that differentiated his competence and professionalism from everyone else's: 1) facilitating rapid rescore, 2) informing me of FHA timing, 3) always picking up phone or calling back promptly. Rapid rescore: Due to certain nuances of my credit utilization, my credit score at the time it was pulled was a few points too low to meet the requirements for the rate I wanted. Glenn contacted a credit consulting company who recommended a few easy steps (e.g., transfer $2,000 balance from one card to another) and after doing this my score went up by amost 50 points! Glenn was instrumental in making this happen and staying on top of the process FHA timing: Glenn's deep knowledge was pivotal for saving me thousands of dollars. Because all interest on FHA loans is paid monthly in full, I would get charged double interest for the month if we were to close after the 1st of a month instead of near the end of the month. Since I had no idea about this, if I had gone with a different loan officer who didn't know or didn't care about this, I could have flushed over $3,000 down the toilet. I would imagine that Glenn's knowledge would extend to many other things in addition to this specific nuance. Responsiveness: I can't remember a single time when I called Glenn and he did not either answer the phone or call me back within 30 minutes. This type of responsiveness is hard to find. Above all of this, Glenn's personality was different -- better -- than the other loan officers with whom I spoke when shopping for my mortgage. Most of the other guys reminded me of used-car salesmen: pushy, in-your-face guys that make bold, unsupported assertions that aim to make you feel stupid if you don't take their deal, or guys that are super-friendly in an almost disconcerting way until they think they are unlikely to get your business, at which point they become rude and obnoxious. I always felt like I wanted to take a shower after talking to them on the phone. Glenn was the exact opposite -- always straightforward, always pleasant, always willing to address my concerns honestly and head-on. He is truly a class act in an industry that is otherwise full of tools. read more

If you don't want to waste time talking with sales focused mortgage financing folks then Poli is the place to go. They really take the time to understand your needs then offer choices that fit for you vs the other way around. They especially know the specialties of the New England market vs the national firms that don't seem to know how a multifamily works or that yes my house is in fact worth that much! Mortgage transactions and the purchase of a house became the worse nightmare of my life, causing me severe stress over their very poor response time, poor interactions, and poor explanation of the situation, especially with regards to their underwriter, Shanon Dubois, someone clearly lacking in people skills. My file and application was treated like a hot potato, and was threatened to be rejected just 2 weeks before my deadline under the P&S agreement with the original homeowners, thus threatening me to loose my $28000 dollar deposit. Eventually they forced me into a FHA loan and I just refinanced out. FHA loan, despite being only a 6 months old portfolio, made me loose over $15000 in closing costs non refundable PMI and monthly PMI. Closing PMI never explained. Had to sign everything on the rush after the undignified begging I had to do with them to even speak with me. My lawyer had a similiar problem. Radio silence. Brinkmanship. Stay clear. Don't be duped by low rates and possibly false reviews! read more

I had the pleasure of working with Richard Souza, and let me tell you, he made everything a whole lot easier. This was my second time applying for a mortgage and for someone who isn't up to speed with the amount of documents, or understand the lingo, I was extremely grateful to be working with Rich. He was patient, quick responding, and when I didn't exactly understand what document I needed, he spoke directly with my bank manager. They were very slow providing information and feedback on my condo. The appraisal was much lower than expected and was not comparable to the properties I knew had sold in the area. Hi, here are some details of my experience with Poli Mortgage. I liked that customers could get quotes on the website without entering personal information, so I visited often to track rates and compare options while deciding whether to refinance. Once i decided to go ahead, I actually contacted a different company recommended by my realtor friend, but the closing costs were rather high so I decided not to proceed. Then I saw in a review where Poli promised the lowest closing costs, so I thought I'd give them a call. Ed McMahon (really) only needed 5-10 minutes on the phone to get my file started and emailed me some options, showing the closing costs to be about $2,500 lower than the competitor. Once I contacted them to proceed, Ed and Rick Souza really moved fast on the paperwork to be sure I could close the deal before rates moved in a volatile market. It's unavoidable that the document collection process is going to be a hassle, but Poli has minimized that with a convenient website that lets you scan and submit your documents quickly and easily. First contact was Feb 13, refinance was approved Feb 21, was cleared to close Feb 28, and a settlement agent met me at my home March 6 to sign all the paperwork. All in all, a very fast streamlined and effective process, with helpful and knowledgable staff and a focus on customer satisfaction. read more

I will never use anyone for my Mortgage other than Chris Poli. My wife and I moved here from San Diego CA and had never owned a home in MA. We didn't really know where to begin... I shopped around and spoke to 4 mortgage brokers during my search. I got a range of rates from all 4 and Poli was .375% lower than everyone else and their closing costs were paid for. Of course I used his rate to try and negotiate with the other 3 companies and every one of them came down on the rate. One of them actually came down twice.(first with interest and then a second time he offered to cover some closing costs). When I called Chris back to get his number down by trying to play him off the others, he told me that they "always offer the best rate possible. If he could have gone any lower , than he would have when we first spoke." I can't stand sales people usually but Chris was honest and open from the start. After locking in the rate, his team was quick and knowledgeable. They explained what the whole process from start to finish they were spot on. I was trying to refinance my house. I had purchased this house in Nashua, NH area in Sep-2013 for 270K. I did a refi last year and the value of the home based on the appraisal in Jan-2015 was 310K. But I still had to pay PMI. This year I was hoping to drop off my PMI and lower my interest rate by doing another re-fi. So I filled up initial contact form for Poli in Zillow. Judy Turtz contacted me and discussed about my situation. She told me that for PMI to drop my house should be valued at 316K. And she assured that since the property prices are increasing in my area and my house was valued at 310K in Jan-2015, the house should be appraised for more than 316K this time. Zillow showed the value of my home at 344K and I let her know about this too. Also I did some research around the home values around my area and found that there were 3 homes sold for more than 325K within 0.1 miles of my house. So I was confident that my house will be appraised for more than 316K. Judy took down my credit card and charged $440 as a deposit for Credit report and Appraisal. But the appraiser (Susan Fitzgerald from Baseline Appraisal) did a very poor job (Judy herself admitted this) with the appraisal and she came up with 284K as my home value. Please note that property values are increasing in my location (Nashua, NH, 03062). So I absolutely don't understand how my house value decrease so much (310K in Jan-2015 and 284K Feb-2016). I talked to Judy and send her my 310K appraisal from last year, and she admitted that the appraiser did a very poor job. The appraiser missed some features of my house in her appraisal (like I have two decks and she put only one, I have an additional kitchen and bathroom in the basement but the appraiser missed that). Also the appraiser never took the houses sold within 0.1 miles of my home into consideration for the comparable. She used comparables that are in busier roads than my house. So we did an appeal of the appraisal. This time the appraiser adjusted the value to 290K. Currently I pay 3.75% as the interest rate and my PMI is 75/month. So based on this appraisal I was not able to drop off my PMI. I requested Judy to return my deposit back because of the poor job done by the appraiser and Judy refused to return the money suggesting she can not do that because of their policy. I believe this is really unfair especially because I don't see any reason why my house which was valued at 310K in Jan-2015 would loose 20K value by Feb-2016 when the property values are increasing my area. I believe the appraiser did a very poor job with the appraisal. Poli Mortgage uses incompetent appraisers. So based on this I would never suggest going with Poli Mortgage. Update to my original review : March-7-2016 Judy called me up on Mar-6-2016 to further discuss about my loan situation. We both had a nice conversation. In my previous review I had specifically mentioned that the whole deal fell apart because of the appraisal. I understand that Poli has to get the appraisal done by an independent third party and they don't have any control over the appraisal process itself. But Judy did try to help me out after the first appraisal came in too low (it was at 284K). She gathered all the information about my home (the ones that the appraiser missed) and alternate comparables. Then Judy appealed the first appraisal. This time the appraiser adjusted the appraised value to 290K based on the things they missed about my home in the first appraisal but they never considered the alternate comparebles that Judy suggested. Again, I believe Judy and Poli Mortgage Company did their best to try to get the appraisal reviewed and updated. I thank Judy for that. On top of that Judy has kindly agreed to refund my deposit back. Also she suggested that she will keep an eye on the recent sales in my area and try to work out another refi loan. So I believe Judy and Poli are doing everything in their powers to resolve this situation and I am really thankful to them for that. read more
