    Tiramisu & cappuccino

After a day of skiing we made our way back to our hotel & came for dinner on a Sunday evening. The staff was friendly & very efficient, and they were mostly full (we did make a reservation). We had a Genovese salad & a 12 in Bolognese pizza to share & both were amazing! To finish we splurged on a tiramisu (petite in size) but perfect, along with 2 cappuccinos, again all so good! This was a cute & clean restaurant with low noise & easy to enjoy conversation! Highly recommend!

We came for dinner in mid-August. We didn't make a reservation and they had a table at the front window available for us. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Restaurant was clean and nice atmosphere. We ordered the bolgonese pizza and bolognese spaghetti. The pizza was great and lots of flavor. Light crust. The spaghetti was good too. We recommend coming here !

Never in a million years would I ever think that Italian food would taste as good as it does in a French Canadian province, but I was proven wrong. Nothing is ever going to compare to Italy (still working my way there), or anything you would get in New York City or Boston. This however, is pretty darn good. All the flavors meld together and work beautifully. The noodles are cooked perfectly, and the option to add grated cheese adds nice color and contrast to a sauce that needs something milky to balance out the hearty meat. It was not expensive and the food came out pretty quick. I would also recommend getting an appetizer first as to not destroy your plate. The servers were nice and know their cuisines, no bluffing their way through to get a bigger tip. Their pizza is supposed to be good too, but I decided on pasta and feel pretty good about my choice.

    Bruschetta mini

Stopped by here for a late lunch on our way back from sightseeing in old town. Absolutely loved that we did. Everything was amazing from how quick we were seated to how cold the beer was to how good to food was. We got the bruschetta mini to start and each. It's was it's own little wonder. Then the pizza was done perfectly. Beautiful crust and flavor in each bite. Fanatic spot for lunch.

You can make reservations, and I'd suggest it for guaranteed sitting with no wait. And when you wait, you wait outside. There is no waiting at the bar. They were able to get us in, and our party of 2 only had about 5-8 min wait as someone was paying. But it is small and tables are mostly for 2, though I am sure they can push together. There are menus outside if you want to see what they have. The waiter was great, asking if French or English. We order the le quattro formaggi pizza, large size, and gluten-free bolognese. I appreciate it was actually spaghetti noodled gluten-free pasta, and the pasta tasted good, not grainy. The sauce was good. I did appreciate it had no pork in the sauce. The pizza was amazing, though I couldn't eat much since we didn't get the gluten-free, but I'd go back to get the GF to try. Last tip they do not take American Express.

La Tartufo, Spaghetti al ragu bolognese, La Pollo

Great Pizza and Pasta here at Polina Pizzeria. We ordered the Large La Tartufo, Spaghetti al ragu bolognese, and Large La Pollo. To start off with the pasta, it was simply delicious. The noodles in my opinion were a little overcooked, and was missing that bite with an al dente. Though, the tomato sauce is the best tomato sauce I believe I've ever had. The sauce was the perfect balance of sweet, acidic, and tartness. This overall made this dish possibly the best bolognese I've had. The La Tartufo was also delicious. It had a great mushroom and white truffle oil flavor. The crust was airy and thin, but lacked an undercarriage. it had the perfect balance of flavors. The La Pollo was unfortunately a downer. It was very cheese heavy and lacked sauce. Again it was a thin and airy crust but lacked a firm undercarriage. The chicken itself was a downer because it was very dry. It took a while to swallow the bite. This overall made the pizza very dry. I like how they added green onion to the pizza adding a freshness to the pizza as a whole. I have to add the added parmesan and freshly cracked pepper to all the dishes really elevated the flavors. They gave this chili oil on the side which added the perfect heat to the dishes. The quality of the food was good. I do have to mention how the spaghetti came out on a hot bowl, but itself was a little cold. Other than that the ingredients they used tasted fresh and of good quality. The presentations were standard. The pizzas I have to add were very eye catching. In terms of portion to price I would say that it is fair. Again ordering a large pizza, the slices were large and filling. I must add that the bolognese was lacking ground beef, though again the tomato sauce makes up for it. The prices were fair as well as the portions. The customer service was excellent. We were greeted upon entry. Our server was very kind and helpful with translating the menu and offering suggestions. He was very attentive and came to our table multiple times asking if everything was ok. Though, the food did take a while to come out. The waiting time for the food seemed longer than usual. The ambiance is very with a whole in the wall pizza spot vibe to it. Although the interior seems cramped and small, the vibe makes up for it. The place was overall very clean. Parking is very difficult because there is only limited street parking. Solid dinner my family and I had here.

Spaghetti alla vongole (white clam sauce)

My wife, son (9) and I have been to Polina three times, most recently once in July 2023. My son likes this place a lot since in 2022 we needed to get him something to eat late around 9:30pm and he remembers that he enjoyed it so much that he asked if we could go once more before we left a few days later. This year we ordered the Mediterranean/Greek salad and a Caesar salad as starters and my wife had a glass of their orange-infused white wine. The salads here are always delicious with Canada's ridiculously high-quality produce. The salads are dressed nicely and are a perfect portion to split between two people. I'm partial to the Greek/Mediterranean one but everything about the Caesar is great too. The wine my wife ordered preceded a seafood main dish and she said the bitterness (think orange peel) was a nice contrast to her meal. My son and I ordered spaghetti Napoletana, which is plain fresh tomato sauce. My son loves this (has had it twice here) and I think it is good. It's hard for me to judge Italian restaurants because my family owned and operated fine Italian restaurants in New York. I will say that it is very good but you can expect, as I have noticed in Canada, a little too much oregano (when oregano is warranted at all?) in the tomato sauces. Maybe that's a Mediterranean tilt toward a Greek flavor but it's something I recognize. My wife rants and raves like a lunatic about Polina's spaghetti alla vongole (clam sauce). This is white clam sauce with noticeably clean clams and a light broth. She has told me that there's no fishy or overly briny flavor or odor, indicative of fresh ingredients. I don't eat that but she talked about this all last year and until we went again this year. This year for dessert my wife had homemade tiramisu served in a pretty glass -- it is delicious -- and my son and I had gelato. I enjoyed mine but my son less so, because the gelato is a very dressed up dessert with a scoop of gelato surrounded by nuts, citron, fruit puree and so forth. It is delicious as prepared but it is not "ice cream" as a child would expect it. Nor was it a scoop of gelato as our server described it. The servers are kind and super helpful, by the way, if you require English or want to ask menu questions. FYI: Last year I tried the lasagna bolognese that my son ordered and this was an excellent serving, piping hot with béchamel as well as bolognese sauce. I also recommend this and would try it myself on a future visit.

    The Bar

Excellent service. Our waiter Christof went above and beyond. Excellent in helping me with my gluten free options . Always at our table topping up our wine and asking if we needed anything. My husband had lasagna which was huge and he said it was very good. I had a g/f pizza which was excellent. We enjoyed our evening so much that we went back on our last night and enjoyed 2 pasta dishes. Thanks Christof for the great service and the scrumptious dinners

To start off with drinks we ordered a limoncello spritz and a fruitatto spritz. The fruit one was by far my favorite, but I'd also dangerous because you could drink them all day like water lol. The limoncello was delicious as well, just be mindful if you're not a limoncello person or have had it before that it'll be a strong flavor when you sip it! For our food we shared the Parmesan truffle fries as an appetizer, the Spag pollo (pasta with chicken, tomatoes, and veggies), and the 1608 flatbread (bechamel sauce, mushrooms, bacon, 1608 cheese, rosemary). Everything we had was so delicious & I even drizzled some spicy oil on top of the pizza which really elevated the flavor! If you're ever visiting Quebec City you have to check this place out!

We arrived on time and waited maybe 5 minutes before being seated. All the outdoor tables were full so the two of us sat at a low 4-top inside not far from the kitchen. Water was brought right away. Our server then took our drink, appetizer and entree orders. We each had a pint of Stella beer on draft and we shared an order of their Focaccia bread, served with butter and a dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The beer was cold and because it was draft, not from a green bottle, no skunk smell or taste :) The Focaccia bread isn't what we make in the States, but it was find. More of a soft, yet dense bread, topped with herbs. For $3 CAN, it was a deal. Later on, the Casesar salad was brought out. It was a generous portion and was plenty for the two of us to split. The dressing was tasty as was the shaved Parmesan cheese and the house made croutons. Later, our Cannelloni entree came. It was in an oval dish that had been baked. The full order came with 2 Cannellonis. Here again, plenty for two people to share. It was stuffed with a meat and cheese mixture. We were too full to be tempted by their dessert menu. Our friends arrive from the US in a couple of days, so we've made another reservation here at Portofino for the four of us. The only downside to Portofino was that it is popular and busy, so it was a bit loud inside.
