What a wonderful surprise! We were looking for a great place to eat, but everywhere was full. We walked into this place and they were full also but we asked if we could eat at the bar and the great waiter we had, said "of course." His name was. Loic oh yeah, and the food was incredible. I wanted something more basic so I went with the spaghetti Bolognese and I swear it was the best meal I've ever had. We ate our first two dinners in a row at La Piazzetta. My 6-year-old daughter was enamored with the dukka and especially with our server, Cindy, so she begged to go back. We obliged since the food was so good. This location was really hard to find. We couldn't see any signage from across the street and had to ask someone walking by if they knew where to go. We started both meals with the dukka. It's served in a mortar with a pestle in case you want to grind the spices more. It comes with a small loaf of bread which gets devoured immediately. For $2 you can get another loaf (which we did), but that should be standard because the first loaf is small. Our buffalo mozzarella pizza was delicious. It was a little oily and near the edge of being too salty, but was otherwise pretty perfect. (I noticed later in pictures that in addition to basil the pizza was topped with cilantro and dill which is just plain wrong, but we didn't notice at the time. We definitely noticed, however, at a Montreal location where it was added with a heavy hand.) We also tried the marius pizza with duck, fig, and pesto. It was fine but we definitely preferred the other pizza. On both visits we ordered the table d'hote. For an extra $15, in addition to the entree you get an app (dukka), coffee or tea, and dessert. We ordered hot chocolate instead of coffee or tea as our beverage both nights and it was good and rich. The first night we had the maple sponge cake for dessert. It was very good but not amazing (VBNA). The sauce had a good maple flavor. Cindy our server was excellent and personable and loved chatting with us and especially my daughter. My daughter asked me, "Why is she so nice?" She also thought Cindy had a British accent, not realizing it was a French one. Cindy even gave her a hug at the end. We returned the next night. The daughter had begged to go back and claimed it was the only thing she liked about Canada. This time we had the cheese and basil pizza. It was good but definitely no buffalo mozzarella. As part of our table d'hote the second night we had the chocolate praline cake. I thought it was superior to the maple sponge cake but my husband disagreed. Cindy remembered our entire order from the night before, including to not put too much whipped cream on the hot chocolate. She also recalled that my daughter didn't like chocolate. read more

Good pizza- Both the 7 mushroom pizza and Pepperoni pizza were good. Go there for the pizza but do not make the mistake of ordering their terrible tarte tatin. I saw tarte tatin on the menu. I asked the server if this was good and "authentic". She said that they made it in a central kitchen and it was good. I am a connoisseur of French pastry and cant be fooled easily. This was an awful tarte tatin. She asked how the tarte tatin was- i said terrible! She asked what was wrong? I told her the crust was probably microwaved, it was soggy and basically a bad thin pizza crust on which caramelized apples were placed. What a shame to be served such terrible tarte tatin! That too in the city where you can get wonderful french pastry! In any case, she didnt take that off the bill. First meal after I landed in Quebec City. Wanted a bit of the French experience but more importantly a meal that sticks. I know this is a pizza place but the seafood & mushrooms were so nicely done. On our last day we finally made it to Avenue Cartier. This is a long avenue with many restaurants on both sides. La Piazzetta was well recommended, but a bit hard to find. It's inside another building with other restaurants on the right side of the street. The place is bigger than it looks since it has two floors. We were on the first floor, by the bar, because we did not have reservation and the place was quite packed (tip: make a reservation or come earlier). English was not much of a problem here, surprisingly and the menu was in English as well. We ordered a small Pizza with Pesto, Lasagna, Tarte Tatin and Praline Royal cake. Everything was good and the portions were big enough for a dinner. The Pesto Pizza was the star of the evening for both. Lasagna wasn't bad either, but being more of a pizza fan this did it for me. Tarte Tatin was delicious, Praline Royal was a bit too dry. All in all a good place for either lunch or dinner. I would come again for Pesto Pizza. :) read more

You know from my other reviews that a pretentious attitude just throws me off the rails. I understand tourists can be horrible guests but we do try to fit in as best we can and have traveled throughout Europe so we have an idea of what not to do to piss off the hosts. The service was absolutely horrible to the point that she could not wrap her mind around the fact that we were ordering an entree and an individual pizza for two people. Then, the 2nd server was making a huge deal about the size of the wine pour, both attitudes were totally uncalled for!! The food was decent. We chose a thin crust cheese and pepperoni pizza and it was doable, not great, a little lacking in flavor but a flavored oil helped rescue it. Our other option was the spaghetti bolognese, which my husband said, tasted like spaghetti served at the last school lunch period. I thought it was okay. The piece of bread that came with the spaghetti tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill with old oil, positively terrible. Other reviews had ripped the bruschetta and from the look on the faces at the next table, I would say that assessment was spot on. I couldn't wait to blow that popstand so there was no dessert for us. Luckily, we are tourists and we have e days of better weather and better options. read more

I think I need to set the record straight on this establishment. Definitely does not merit a 4+ rating. The food was okay. I had the seafood pasta main course with a Bruschetta app. The bruschetta was terrible. The baguette was soggy and lacked flavor. They need to change bread supplier asap and teach the chef how to make bruschetta. The bread needs to be toasted prior to topping with tomatoes and served crisp. The pasta noodles were stuck together. The shrimp and scallops were well cooked but lacked seasoning. The garlic bread that accompanied the pasta was terrible. The garlic butter was burned and tasted rancid. My wife order the BBQ chicken pizza rolls. We thought this dish was good. On the positive side, the service was excellent and the dessert (goat cheese and cream chews with black cherries) was excellent. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Cute little place serving great pizza. The thin crust pizza was perfect. We ordered the Sicilian with sausage, sweet red/yellow peppers and spicy banana peppers. The sauce, crust and toppings were perfect. The pizza tray is placed on the ledge of the table with a special holder and candle to keep the pizza hot while you enjoy each and every slice. We also ordered the warm apple and Camembert salad - served with greens, walnuts, gooey Camembert cheese on crustini. The vinaigrette complimented the salad beautifully. On our last night in Quebec we stumbled upon Piazzetta on Avenue Cartier. It was definitely our best dining experience while in the city. Our server, Myriam, greeted us with a smile and maintained that smile throughout the entire meal. My app was warm apple and Camembert salad with mixed greens and a nice understated dressing. Entre was a personal sized three cheese thin crusted pizza topped with chives. We finished dinner with a lemon and rosemary cake, tart and delicious. read more

Wow, what an awesome place - I went there for dinner on the occasion of my b'day and had one of the best restaurant experiences ever! Wonderful food, very economically priced and fantastic customer experience! There was a delay in getting our pizza due to some issue with the order and they immediately got us a couple of beers on the house to make up for it. And then when the order did come in, it was real good! Delicious hard crust pizza, good local beer, wonderful appetizers and tasty dessert of custard and tiramisu to top off a lovely evening! Our family of four loved our dinner of three dishes: prosciutto Aldres pizza, a three cheese pizza with Parmesan, blue cheese and mozzarella and a vegetarian pizza roll with salsa Verde and guacamole. If you come famished, you will need a fourth dish. The service was warm and efficient. The panna cotta we shared was a hit as well. We highly recommend the very light pizzas which were so tasty.
