First, the service was excellent. My server spoke both French and English, and was happy to explain menu items and offer her opinions. I ordered the table d'hotel where you can add an opener and a dessert to your entree for one price. I had the apple and Camembert salad, which was delicious. It has the perfect balance of sweet, salty, savory and crunchy. My entree was the mushroom and black garlic fettuccine. It was loaded with three or four kinds of mushrooms and topped with some fresh arugula which added a nice freshness to what could have been a very heavy dish. Nice cozy spot in the old town great. Romantic setting and Great for a date but also good even for groups. Right across the street from my hotel so a group of us decided to give it a try. I went a bit risky with the smoked salmon pizza but the unique choice was solid ! Tasted like a deconstructed lox bagel but not overly salty. Loved it and highly recommend. I like the fact they they have separate pages for vegetarian options and vegan options and even gluten free if I recall. They do a great job of catering to different dietary restrictions. We ducked in to La Piazzetta on a rainy day in Quebec City. We grabbed a table in the back and settled in with a nice glass of wine. The server explained that we could select a salad or appetizer, pizza, and a coffee with the meal which sounded perfect. The Caesar Salad to start was decent but plain. Fresh romaine, crunchy croutons and dressing. We tried the vegetarian and the buffalo mozzarella pizzas and they were both really good. The crust was nice and crispy and browned and the sauces were very evenly balanced, not too salty or acidic. I think we favored the buffalo mozzarella pizza slightly more but we really enjoyed them both. The veggie pizza was olive forward but still nicely balanced. We put the pizzas on one tray to take the picture but they came on separate plates. We really enjoyed our lunch. read more

I have to be brutally honest, this was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had! The cheese wasn't melted, and the sauce tasted like it was just dropped directly from a raw can of tomato paste, leaving a metallic aftertaste. As a pizza lover, I recommend staying away from this one. read more

We really liked the thin crust pizza here. The restaurant is just 2 blocks from our hotel. We came here for dinner 2 nites to get away from the heavy French food we've been eating. The waitress we had the 1st nite was really sweet with her big framed glasses. She was easy going and pleasant. I tried the piccolo single pizzas both time. The Westphal pizza was my fav. The olive, mushroom, meat pizza the 2nd nite wasn't as good. I ordered an appetizer sized Caesar salad both times and liked that too. Hubby has spaghetti and meatballs the first nite and the balls were moist but not much can be said about spaghetti. He tried a 10 inch spicy Italian sausage pizza the 2nd nite and really liked the crunchy crust. The waiter was proficient but lukewarm compared to the waitress the other nite. read more

Decent pizza place that is reasonably affordable for the area. We shared two pizzas: the smoked salmon and the pepperoni. The smoked salmon was boring and underwhelming. If not for the tomatoes, it would have been 2 star worthy. Thankfully the pepperoni pizza had more than pepperoni (had mushrooms and bell peppers) and was quite tasty. Recommend that one. Overall La Piazzetta is a place to get a nice meal, but not a place that will blow you away. read more

We just finished up a lovely lunch at La Piazzetta Vieux-Port, on a popular corner in the middle of Vieux Québec's Haute-Ville. We sat on their outdoor terrace, watching the world go by on a sunny day, just enjoying Québec's leisurely pace. Their pizza, turned out in a remarkably small oven, is simply delicious. We started with some sangria (the best we've had so far in Québec) and their Dukkha, which is their pizza dough served with olive oil, and alongside, a mortar containing almonds, hazelnuts, toasted chickpeas, and spices (like oregano) for dipping. You get to do the grinding yourself with the hefty pestle, and the work leads to a tasty pay-off. (BTW, use the spicy oil on the table rather than the olive oil for extra kick.) We ordered two pizzas to share, 'piccolo size' (individual square pizzas) -- a three cheese (you get to pick the three) and the Diabola. (Direct from the menu: szegedi sausage, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, hot pepper, green pepper, green olives, red onion, cumin, coriander, and chili.) The Diabola was amazing, especially for someone who likes spicy food, and yes, more of that spicy oil got drizzled onto the pizza. All-around, a great setting, friendly staff who are equally at ease with either English or French, and some wonderful pizzas, which I thought were quite reasonably priced. There are several La Piazzetta locations in Québec, some of which are reviewed on Yelp, so if even if you're not in the Lower Town district, find your way close to one nearby and check it out! read more

First of all, the venue itself is great. There are outdoor sittings, which is super nice for the summer time. I shared a 3 course meal with my boyfriend and everything was great. After a long day of walking- we liked the decor outside- warm and inviting inside and friendly server. Had a yummy glass of gerturminer wine ( spell fail) and made my own pizza- she had a fresh tomato cheese crostini. Server was charming and not overbearing. First bite resulted in a doughy mouthful. The crust base was nearly raw. Huge pizza menu, each in 3 sizes. We went once for lunch and then once to order a pizza to keep in the hotel room for late-night munchies. Both eat in and takeout, the service was efficient if not particularly warm. The pizzas are very tasty with good-quality ingredients. But definitely expensive. Decent experience, due to the friendly service, but wouldn't go again. We were seated near the semi-open kitchen which was loud and provided us with a bit too much information. We witnessed a kitchen worker reach into a mini fridge and scoop out our salad by hand, picking through it with his bare hands, tossing a few pieces of lettuce sideways and onto the floor. He then continued to do other tasks (and we assume he did similar things previously), such as touch his hair, cap, wipe his hands on his pants, fetch himself a drink etc. I also noticed that the kitchen is quite small with only a small prep area (they really utilized that mini fridge), and two stacked microwaves/convection ovens. Bad sign. They used these a LOT. The meal was okay, but overpriced for the quality (or lack there of) Seafood pizza was rather strange, the seafood stuffed pasta fishy and in an unexceptional vodka-ish sauce (not at all distinctive) and looked and tasted like it had been pre prepared or even bought and done in the microwave. The chefs choice of mini desserts were a piece of maple fudge, a chocolate truffle, what was essentially an almond joy and a rubbery mini mini sponge cake with caramel. I do not have confidence that any were made on the premises. Our server was friendly and attentive, but the staff was not at all professional. The kitchen workers frequently came in and out of the kitchen to get drinks, silverware and go hang out, their black uniforms covered in flour. The staff sat at the bar making rolled silverware during dinner hours, at 8.30 on a Friday night! They talked loudly and didn't seem to care about the experience of the customers. We could see several of them go into the kitchen and sit on the floor near the mini fridge and play on their phones. It would be a very good idea to get doors or a curtain there, especially considering what we saw go on! read more

Stopped for lunch last week in the lower town of Quebec. I gather this is a chain but this is the only location I have tried. (Corner of Rue Saint-Paul and Rue Saint Pierre.) Service was great - quick and attentive. Food definitely a cut above typical chain restaurant. I had "Alpine roll-ups" while my sweetheart enjoyed chevre salad and foccaccia. All were very good. I would return for another relaxing meal on the terrasse. read more
