I'm feeling sad writing this review as the Polish American Deli had always been my go-to spot for Polish food especially fresh kielbasa, perogies and kruschiki. When I visited a few months ago, I noticed there were no Polish employees like in the past. The employee who was there was kind and courteous, though. We were also told fresh not frozen kielbasa could be purchased very infrequently only on days it arrived because otherwise they freeze it now. We went today expecting the normal wrap-around block waiting in line for hours to get all the fresh Polish food for Christmas. Well, we did wait in line for a good amount of time but not due to the normal long line but rather because we were told the business was supposed to open at 9:30 am today and another person in line said when she called she was told the business would open at 9 am today. So imagine our surprise when standing outside with temps in the teens finding out eventually the business was not opening until 10 am! We were surprised even more to find there was no fresh kielbasa available at the Christmas season...only frozen! The festive atmosphere and Polish chatter was also missing. The place was not hopping as in years past, so I guess many of the customers had already gotten the memo how much things sadly had changed here. read more

This used to be a great local store to buy kielbasa, no need to travel to Philadelphia. After returning to this area we were looking forward to buying kielbasa there again. What. a disappointment! They have obviously changed management/ownership and or suppliers because our recent purchase of 3 different types of kielbasa all tasted the same! We used to love the double garlic even though it would smell up the refrigerator, now there is barely a hint of garlic. The special dark wedding kielbasa was nothing special. After this disappointing result we'll gladly make the trip to Philly for the real Polish kielbasa! read more

The owner of this place is so rude. yells as customers. I don't know about anyone else but when I go somewhere to spend my hard earned money I would like to be treated like a customer with respect. I bought a couple dozen frozen pierogies ...they were not all that tasty even with the sauteed onions I cooked them in. Of all the polish delis where I have bought frozen pierogies these were clearly the worst. read more

I don't look it but I'm a 1/4 Polish. I have the best of both (Italian) of food worlds! After the dentist across the street (where I was parked), I visited this place b/c I was hankering for some potato pancakes. Two lovely Polish women happily greeted us. I picked up my pancakes along w/ cheese blintzes. I also got my daughter a small package of choc cov gingerbread cookies. She loved them and when I made the stuff I bought the next a.m., I/we were in Polish food heaven. Holy crap this food was devine! So fresh and tasty and it cooked up perfectly. My only complaint about the deli was the prices were a bit high. Imagine my surprise when my bill came to $26 for two small packages of p. pancakes and c. blintzes and a small pack of cookies. Yikes. Best fresh kielbasa since Johnny's in Wilmington shut down. For the smoked, 6-7 different kinds to choose from. My favorite is the wedding kielbasa. Head cheese, pâtés, hams......a smoked chicken leg? Breads, babkas, and chrusciki.....Golabki, bigos, and pierogi.....I dunno what the bad reviews are for because the lady always throws me a treat for free...however you must spend more than 10 dollars if you use your card.... she will not bend on that....but if your spending less than 10 dollars get your kielbasa from ShopRite...you don't know what good kielbasa is ..... read more

Most horrible experience while being here. First starts off with long line wrapped around the store which was fine- shows they're popular and sell great homemade goods. After waiting in line with it barely moving anywhere the older lady thought that restocking the breads that were already pretty well stocked was more important than the line that was now outside of the store. Finally put our meat order in an hour after entering the store. So we go to pay and the older lady says she'll ring us up in a minute. And starts taking other people's orders along with the younger lady. After taking 5 other peoples orders, I asked if she could ring us up and she said after I'm done with this person. So after taking that persons order she continues with the next person. I flipped out and she just kept taking peoples orders. At that point I walked out while my husband waited to pay for the order. read more

Been coming here since 2010 and usually buy $70 to $80 worth of kielbasa, deli, and perogies each visit. This always includes a few pounds of head cheese and Swiss cheese for sandwiches. Today I ordered my usual and the head cheese was sliced with the paper wrapping...should have been removed before slicing but I can overlook that as I usually split up the batch and wrap several smaller packages. Next I ordered the Swiss. The woman came out with a few old looking ends and picked the better looking one to slice. When she weighed the cheese I asked if I could taste a slice before wrapping. It had such a bitter aftertaste that it tasted spoiled...sour. I asked the woman to taste for herself and she said she doesn't eat cheese. I said I don't want it and she left to get her boss...the older lady that usually helps me. I asked her to taste the sliced cheese and she wouldn't do it. Said something about it being polish Swiss not American Swiss. I let her know I always buy the cheese here and it's never tasted bad before. Gave me lots of attitude and started slamming things around. Asked what else I wanted and I said nothing more...spent only $35 today and it will be a long time before I take another 80 mile round trip for my polish treat. read more

Bought a package of stuffed cabbage. Probably the worst I have ever tasted. Ate half a piece and gave the rest to the dog. The young lady who works the counter isn't allowed to run the credit card machine or open the cash register, so I had to stand there until the stern looking old lady who was stocking the refrigerated food came over. The young lady had to ask her twice to come over and she seemed put out!! Checked my ID when I used a credit card which is no big deal, but after standing and waiting it seemed a bit passive-aggressive. This family owned grocery store has excellent products! Full delicatessen, huge variety of American and Polish lunch meats and cheeses as well as other grocery items at better than supermarket prices!! By the way, you have to try their kielbasy and pierogi!!! A friend of mine recommended this place to me so I stepped by the other day to try some of the kielbasy and lunch meats. It's a family owned store so the service is superb. They let me sample some of the kielbasy so I could choose the ones I liked...and they have probably 20 types of the kielbasy alone plus other hams, turkeys etc, etc!!!! They also have pierogies (Polish dumplings)....with cheese, meat, potato and sauerkraut. It's really a good food! Check out their website for plenty of really simple and quick recipes to make quick and really good dishes. In the world of huge supermarkets and the food all tasting the same and being expensive...this deli is awesome. They have a great selection at great prices and they're working very hard to accommodate every customer. It's really nice to see a family owned business operated with such a care. I highly recommend you check it out and support the mom and pop business!!! Stopped in because I had a crazy craving for some authentic golabki. The two women behind the counter acted as though I was bothering them just by looking around their store. It was my FIRST time there so I wanted to peruse their selection! SO PUSHY and not at all welcoming. I made my way to the depleted fridge and snatched up my golabkis, a package of potato and onion pierogi, and a few pounds of kielbasa. In total I spent $40. I made up a sampling of my bounty & boy, total disappointment to day the least. The golabki had no meat in them (which was really confusing) mostly all rice and in Campbells soup tomato sauce (soup!), no lie. The pierogi were very doughy no flavor at all and the kielbasi was no different than what you can expect getting at a supermarket. I don't know maybe I was too excited for some authentic polish fare, but needless to say, I'll continue my search for the prefect golabki. read more

So we stopped in before heading back to Boston.My husband is Polish and really enjoyed the pierogies he got (fresh cabbage and sauerkraut), we also got some of the "hot dog" type of kielbasa, and they do hot lunch specials so I got the potato pancakes. I went to this place solely for the purpose of buying some Paczki, as today is Paczki day. I'm not Polish, but my boyfriend is, and I wanted to take some in to work tomorrow. First of all, the parking for this place was utterly horrendous. Their parking lot was unplowed in light of the recent snow attacks we've had here in the region, and there were just signs all over the place: "You'll be towed! You'll be towed!" There is no on-street parking, because it was all claimed by people who live on the dead-end side street. You just can't park on the Black Horse Pike. I don't think this is a Polish neighborhood, and this store is VERY MUCH a specialty business, so I just don't imagine they have tons of foot traffic in there. When I walked in, I saw the Paczki in a box top on the counter. The first thing that came to mind was, "They don't make them here. Maybe they fill them, but I'm sure they don't make them." It's just a feeling I have. So they were .99 each. I asked the older woman in there, "What's in them?" and she looked at me like I was nuts. "FRRRUIT!" she yelled at me, and walked away. This nasty young girl walked over to me, who also had a very thick accent, like she had just come over. She was young, too, like around 20. I couldn't believe there was such a language barrier. I also feel they just didn't like me because I didn't speak their language! Or they thought I was going to rob them! They seemed so mistrustful and miserable. Most of the signs were in Polish, a few in English. It just didn't feel charming to me, and it should have. I'm thinking, "I made a mistake by coming in here; I should've taken the Betsy Ross Bridge and gone over to Philly to Czerw's!" Things got worse from there, after the old lady literally dumped the 6 Paczki in a bag, not even wrapping them. I thought, "Oh, great". I still thought some fresh (???) pierogies would be a good idea, so I walked over to that little area. Oh, and by the way, they only had two miserable looking things of ham in the case, in case you wanted lunchmeat. And the kielbasa looked DRIED OUT, do you hear me? It looked SO unappetizing! There were no prices and no flavors listed for the pierogies, so I asked the girl how much and what were the flavors. I couldn't even understand what the hell she was saying, and I'm good with accents! I would not have been picky about the flavors, but I can't eat onions, so...I said I wanted potato and cheese. 6 of them. She gave 6 in a little takeout box with cheap tape sealing it. I'm thinking now that they get those shipped from elsewhere, too. I smelled nothing cooking the whole time I was there, and it's a small place and I have a sensitive nose. And the Paczki woman came out with more Paczki in another box top after Miss Miserable boxed my pierogies. Definitely did not smell anything like that in the place. They were fresh, yes, but not fresh from them. I went to go pay and a tiny, tiny little sign said that you had to spend $15 if you used a credit card or a debit card. Obviously I had not spent enough. And obviously I have never heard of a $15 minimum. $10, yes. $15 is just too high. I started getting pissed and I said, "Just put enough pierogies with NO ONIONS in there to make it $15.00!" Just to let you all know that I was the only customer...but you may have guessed that. I'm sure I would've been ignored for a half hour if there was someone else in there. Oh, was I getting mad with the ignorance. She could've said something nice and made some nice recommendations, but she just stood there like the dumb*ss she was. Then, I went to give her my debit card again, and she asks me for I.D.! I've never heard of this! I THREW my driver's license at her, I was so mad. Then, to make it even worse, the "line was busy" when she was putting my transaction through. The line was busy???? So I had to have her swipe it AGAIN! I should've used my bolt instinct and just walked out. Seriously. And so help me God if I'm double-charged, there's going to be hell to pay. And they're not open the hours they say they are in the blurb on here -- it says they're closed Mondays until March something or April something. And by the way, my daughter tasted one of the Paczki and the fruit was BITTER and she couldn't even eat it. I tasted it and it did taste somewhat bitter. All i know is that it was red, but it didn't taste like cherry or strawberry.I wanted to give somebody local my business, but I won't be going back; I'll go to where it's been highly recommended - Czerw's. read more

This is place is great!!! A true mom and pop business! The food is very fresh, excellent selection of various hams, cheeses and kielbasi. The service is friendly and helpful. We have tried the kielbasi, some awesome cheeses and pierogies and my wife and I LOVED it. We will definitely go back!!! I also saw that they do take out lunch! I want to try the stuffed cabbage next time. Btw, they have tons of parking in the back, easy to get in and out. read more

This is the worst small business and even worse owner. Nobody should buy anything from here. The food is OLD and overpriced! The owner covers old deli meat with new deli meat and makes the workers cut the old meat. Those who are not Polish are not even aware of this, but Polish people in the area know this and refuse to shop there. Go to Port Richmond in Philly where there is a much bigger selection that is actually FRESH and much much cheaper. I stopped at this deli last weekend to see what my coworkers were talking about. They claimed this deli has the best kielbasa and pierogi around. I got to say, they were right!!! I brought some garlic and regular kielbasa home and some potatoes pierogi. They were awesome. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to try some good polish food with a family atmosphere. My husband found this lovely little store, and I've been there several times. The food is delicious, the store is very clean, and service is wonderful. My favorites are the farmers cheese pierogi, sliced Virginia ham (deli counter) and all the fresh baked goods. The kielbasa is excellent. I live near Princeton now, but grew up in north Jersey near Wallington and Passaic where the best Polish food stores are. This place is excellent, and I'm thrilled we found it. I went into this place trying to get a sub. After trying to explain to her what a cold cut was it was the worst sub I ever had. I piece of cheese, 1 piece of ham, 1 pieces of turkey, 5 slices of tomato and a handful of lettuce. I pulled over and fed it to my dog in the back of the truck. Not sure how thier polish food is but dont bother ordering the subs. read more

I went to the Polish American Deli on the recommendations of friends and family. I fell in love the moment I stepped into the store. Most of my Christmas dinner was supplied by this little store and every morsel was delicious! While small, this deli is a little slice of Poland, with many imported packaged good from Poland, tantalizing fresh products and some homemade foods. There are several types of kielbasi, one better than the next. The pierogis and blintzs are mouthwatering, as are the potato pancakes. You can get homemade take out every day. The paczki were light and fluffy and the cheese danish were flaky and enormous. I found the staff to be friendly and they all had a solid command of English. As for prices, since all of the packaged good are imported, you will find the prices a little on the high side, but not that extreme. I thought the prices were reasonable for the goods I bought. As for parking, if you are unfamiliar with the area, it can be a bit hazardous. The Black Horse Pike is a very busy road almost any time of the day. I was lucky to park on the pike, right in front of the store. However, for those unfamiliar with the area, I would suggest turning onto Clements Bridge Road and going around the corner to 2nd Ave. Right behind the store there is ample parking. To return to the pike, just retrace your steps back to the intersection at Clements Bridge Road. It is worth the trip, esp. if you hanker for the old-world atmosphere and goods of a European deli. read more

There isn't an option for NO stars so I put one. What a horrible experience. Store wasn't open on time, and then a nasty old lady with a horrible red dye job pulls up and yells at me to give her a minute. Ok so I pull my car around back n wait. She decided to put the garbage out so I waited longer. Ok fine. I go to the door n still locked. Waited again. Once I was in the store I took a menu And looked around. I wanted pierogies n fresh kielbasa. Wasn't sure if I had to order or not. The rudeness from this women was ridiculous. How in gods name do they have business. After I got yelled at yet again n spoken to like I was a small child I bought pierogies out of my better judgement. I am half polish I do know what I'm talking about but WRONG MOVE. Get them home and they were just as horrible at the women's attitude that serviced me. Filling was so dry and the dough was to thick. DONT EVER GO THERE! have been shopping there for a while as there are no Polish delis in the local area. The owner has always been rude and unfriendly but my last visit " topped the cake". I went in there to send a package to Poland. She demanded that I provide her with a phone number for the recipient. Since I was just helping my elderly parents to bring in the 34 pound box to the store to ship it I did not have the phone number available. I carried the heavy box into the store not realizing that I left my cell phone in my car and the nasty owner refused to let me call my parents to get the phone number she demanded. This was a local call and it would have cost her NOTHING to let me use her phone. Some people on here think that she treats Polish Americans poorly but I can assure you that I speak fluent English and she treats everyone the same-as though she is doing us a favor as her customers. Over the years my family has spent hundreds of dollars at this business but not anymore. I was shaking when I left the store after getting my cell and making the call to my parents to give her the phone number for my relatives in Poland where the package was going. Rest assured I will NEVER step into this store again and told everyone I know about the poor service from the owner. I will go into Philly to get my stuff that is fresher and at least they have the a variety of kielbasy etc not like the Polish American Deli who freezes their breads and tries to sell it as fresh. Based on my experience if the owner does not change her attitude she won't be in business much longer. GO TO HELL YOU NASTY OLD LADY! read more
