    Yummy hot soft pretzel!

Stopped here on a whim when we were looking for new quartz countertops and boy were they good! Hot and fresh but with a crispy bottom. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area!

When I saw an open Mart Pretzel on the way to produce junction, I knew I had to stop in. The pretzels are fresh, chewy, and satiating. The staff are incredibly friendly and you can tell it's a family business vibe. Their product is so good it's no surprise how long they've been in business.

Pizza pretzel with cheddar jack (saltless pretzel) It's much bigger than it looks in this pic

This is a place I will go out of my way for. Great, friendly staff and delicious pretzels. They have really good white cheddar cheese to dip your pretzels in and the pizza pretzels are amazing.

Stopped here on my quest to find pets made the way I remember them from my childhood. This wasn't what I remembered, but it was an excellent soft pretzel! A relative newcomer (since 1965) compared to A&A, Mart Pretzel makes a delicious soft pretzel: chewy crusty with a soft center. Might have been the favorite of my 3 South Jersey pretzel maker tour. As a bonus, they sell Boost! a hyperlocal caffeinated beverage created by a pharmacist in 1913. Back in the pharmacy/soda fountain days, it was sold at the soda counter with a soft pretzel hanging off the straw, according to the beverage's website. Had to get some of that too. [My sister remembers having it as kids, but I don't.] They have whole pickles, so I grabbed one from the barrel too. Because why not? My husband loved his sausage pretzel. I'd go back for a breakfast sandwich, too. If you want a truly local, old-fashioned, and delicious treat, a Mart Pretzel and a Boost! is the way to go.

"They say the times are changing but I just don't know These things are gone forever Over a long time ago" (Pretzel Logic- Steely Dan) Well, pretzels do go back a long time ago, but they are far from gone forever. Legend has it that pretzels date back to 610 AD when Italian monks rewarded good study habits in children by giving them a treat called pretiolas, or "little rewards". What we enjoy today as the chewy and salty soft twisted pretzel made their way to the US in the 1850's thanks to immigrants that settled in the Pennsylvania Dutch community. Which brings us to Mart Soft Pretzels- they've been around since 1965. They bake those beauties on site and sell them as big pretzels, mini pretzels, cinnamon sugar pretzels, pretzel dogs, and pretzel sausages. You can buy one or you can buy 100 or you can buy a catering tray of pretzel goodness. Pretzels are a big thing in the Philly area, I read that some studies show that Philadelphia consumes up to twelve times the national average in pretzels each year. I picked up four to take home, and they were excellent!

Best pretzels. Almost like Center City in Philly. Philly Pretzel Factory sucks. Anyone that hates on the pretzels is a complete idiot.

Quite literally the best soft pretzels in south Jersey. Perfect balance of chew, pull, and softness.

The pretzels are top-notch, the cheese and hot mustard are the best around, and the boost is fantastic.

We were told it can be a little overwhelming with all the options and to look at the menu ahead...even so, there's just a lot to explore in the fridges from a variety of soups, fish, raviolis, and even pirogies! Let's talk crab cakes! It seems like we arrived a bit late in the day, as the stop-n-shop was already out of two (crab) cake options. We ended up choosing the Smith Style, Signature, and Imperial. (A big whoops on my part: J wanted the shrimp and Gouda, not the imperial...that's on me!) Flavor breakdown: - Smith Style was a classic un-breaded cake and it had a perfect ratio of crab to bread crumb. This one was by far my favorite! - The Signature is a Maryland-style cake and had some old bay flavoring (obvi). It was OK. - The Imperial was fine but lacked a little flavor J said. I highly recommend trying the special Sabi Sauce...it had a lovely horseradish kick. We also tried the lobster bisque and for a take-away soup it was still thick and creamy. While my husbands crab cakes are my favorite (I'm biased) this is a great local option.
