Once upon a time I was obsessed with Chris's white borscht. But prior to 2025, it'd been nearly a…read moredecade since my last visit, so I was hesitant. Would it hold up, or was the disappointment inevitable? I'm happy to report that I've returned twice this year, and the white borscht is still as delicious as I remembered. It's warm, comforting, and a little tart, with slices of smoky, meaty kielbasa and hard-boiled eggs. You can get a 12-ounce "cup" or 16-ounce "bowl," and I like opting for the latter so I can bring the rest home and make it last a little longer. For other standouts on the menu, their fried cheese and potato pierogis are great, with a decent amount of filling and perfectly caramelized onions on top. The sour cream's a must, though I hate that it was an extra 75 cents. Their platters are also hearty and can easily be split into two portions. You can't go wrong with the flavorful Polish platter, which features stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, hot sauerkraut with meat (my mouth is watering just thinking about this), and three pierogis. My partner's enjoyed both the Hungarian-style potato pancake with beef goulash and the stuffed cabbage with mushroom sauce.

The ambiance is classy and it also has a bar so it has a real authentic Polish vibe. Our waitress was very friendly and answered any question we had about their menu. The borscht soup was a pleasant surprise - it tastes better than it looks, i swear! I couldn't decide whether to do boiled or fried but tbh they're both good options- you can't do any wrong picking either. I would recommend this place if you like to eat good food in peace :)

Fresh baked bread? Really? I was walking around the area and found Northside Bakery. It's a nice…read morecozy little place with two woman behind the counter. I love challah and asked if they had any. The woman goes to the top shelf and gets a pre-wrapped in a plastic bag challah. It has their nice logo label with the list of ingredients and that's where I was shocked. Artificial butter flavor. Artificial? Not real butter? Yellow food coloring, FD&C yellow #5, FD&C yellow #6 and #40. This is the same as buying one at the supermarket. The reason they have so many ingredients in supermarket bread is for a longer shelf life. A fresh baked bread only lasts for a couple of days, which is fine because the quality and taste is better than store bought bread. The beauty of getting fresh bread from a bakery is that bread should only have a few simple ingredients, which is not only healthier, but also tastier. There were many other breads that were freshly baked without being pre-packaged, so if I'm in the area again, I will give it another try. If it's as good as people say, I will change my review. But, judging by the challah, I have to give my honest opinion of the bread I bought. Also, what's the deal with the huge sign telling you not to take any photos? Are they under FBI investigation? Who doesn't love to take photos of a new discover that they want to share with friends on social media? Bad for business and a turn-off.
