Being new to the ATL/Johns Creek area, I was genuinely excited to find what I thought would be a great pediatric dentist so close to home. Unfortunately, after only my second visit, I'm seriously considering moving my kids to a different practice. A few things that happened during this recent appointment were extremely disappointing. 1. Unprofessional Front Desk Experience Something just felt off with the office staff from the moment we arrived. The front desk person rushed me into signing forms showing what I supposedly owed without taking a moment to explain anything. When I noticed a date discrepancy and asked about it, she brushed me off, saying it was from my "last visit." This was only our second visit -- the first was in February -- so that response made no sense. It was also clear she got irritated that I was asking questions instead of just signing without understanding. Thankfully, the person sitting next to her kindly stepped in and explained things clearly, which made sense and turned out to be accurate. If the first staff member didn't know, she could've simply asked someone who did instead of acting dismissive. 2. Long Wait and Disorganized Visit Our appointment was at 3 p.m. for routine cleanings, yet we didn't leave until 4:15. It was obvious they were overbooked -- the whole office felt chaotic. There was even a line for X-rays. I brought both my sons, but they only allowed one parent back, which I understand for safety reasons. My 9-year-old was fine on his own, but my 5-year-old was nervous. The staff kept giving me mixed directions -- first, I couldn't sit in a certain chair due to "policy," then I was asked to go help my younger son calm down, then told to leave again, then asked to come back again to help him try the X-ray once more. It was frustrating and unorganized. One hygienist, in particular, was quite rude and passive-aggressive, muttering loudly, "Well, if he can't do the X-ray this visit, we'll just have to wait until next time." For a pediatric dental office that works with children, I was shocked by the lack of patience, empathy, and flexibility. That same hygienist also treated my 9-year-old and, instead of speaking to me directly, told him to let me know he'd need to come every three months for cleanings because of his braces. It's unprofessional to communicate treatment details through a child instead of the parent. 3. Disappointing Interaction with the Dentist Even though this was only my second visit, I noticed the same issue I experienced during our first -- Dr. Nanna has zero warmth or bedside manner. I initially gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might've just been an off day, but this visit confirmed otherwise. For a pediatric dentist, she's surprisingly cold, impersonal, and lacks the kind of approachability kids (and parents) need. Her staff seems tense and on edge, likely because of the strict, joyless atmosphere she creates. When she finally came into the room, the only thing she said was, "So, do you have questions for me?" How could I possibly have questions when she hadn't even provided me with a report or explained anything about the exam or X-rays? It was baffling and left me feeling completely dismissed as a parent. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed and disheartened. If I'm going to spend a significant amount of money on my children's dental care, it will be somewhere that treats both kids and parents with kindness, professionalism, and respect. read more

I've been bringing my children here for at least 10 years and I will never go back. I do not recommend this office. The staff are very rude. Betsy called me to tell me I didn't fill out all the forms online and that I'd be charged a little bit for sealants which I was totally fine with but she acted like she expected me to be upset, as she spoke to me very harshly. Then she said our appt was at 3:00 and I asked if she was sure because I had received a text stating it was at 2:30 and she said no it's at 3:00. About an hour later I got another text saying 2:30. I called and spoke to someone else there who confirmed it was at 2:30. It matters because I had to get my daughter from school to get to the appt in time. She quoted me $116 for sealants but when I got to the office asked me to sign a form saying it was $132. No biggie other than she again gave me wrong info. They office staff said they'd be doing X-rays and I said we didn't want them because the orthodontist had just done them 3 weeks prior. They asked me to call and have them emailed to them. I showed them the office hours indicating the orthodontist was closed on Fridays my daughter was already in the chair in the back. A couple minutes later Sonny came out and was very aggressive in telling me that if I don't let them do X-rays then she can't be seen. I said ok I don't want so many X-rays and the orthodontist already told us everything looked fine so we'd leave. When I got in the car my daughter said she was in the chair and the hygienist was going to start but Sonny quickly approached and said "Nope! She's coming with me!" That's when Sonny walked my daughter to me in the waiting room and informed me they wouldn't see her unless I let them do the X-rays. I do not recommend this place because they are aggressively rude and out for the money with as many X-rays and procedures as they can bill for. I wouldn't trust them with my children anymore. read more

We have been with Polkadot for 9 years now, we were happy until today. In July 2023 my new dental insurance is considered out of network with them and when I told them I am going to switch to a dentist who will be in network with my new insurance they ensured me that the normal dental cleaning would be covered like the old "in network" plan that would cost me $0. Hubby took the 3 kids back today for their routine dental cleaning and they charged us $307 for the routine visit, this is not an acceptable business practice in my book or in anyone's book for that matter. read more

My 3 year old bumped his face on his older brothers face which resulted in a bleeding tooth and as a mother you want to find the best of the best. Dr Nanna was extremely professional at what she does and explained everything i needed to know about what was happening with his tooth. The staff are very professional as well. My family had been going to Polka Dot since my son was approximately 4 and he is now 12. We have had several negative instances with them but decided to let them go and hope for the best the next time. Dr. Nanna is not friendly and does not have a great bedside manner. She always seems perturbed by children's nervousness and any of my questions or concerns. Over the years, she stopped giving report cards to parents letting them know about their child's dental hygiene, which is also a negative. The last time we were in, it felt as if my children were just cattle being rushed in and out without any attention to detail. In addition to the aforementioned details, my son had 3 teeth pulled at her urging because she said that the permanent teeth were ready to come in, and it took over a year for his permanent teeth to come in, which makes it seem unlikely they were ready to come out in the first place. We had another incident with my daughter, where she was not paying attention enough, I suppose and was pulled by her cast on her broken wrist into the x ray room. If you are in that big of a rush, you are in the wrong business or in the business just to make money. Furthermore, every dentist I have ever gone to has made me aware of insurance changes, lack of coverage, etc... On the day of our last cleaning, which have been completely covered for the prior 9 years, I was charged for my daughter's cleaning but not my son's. If I had left the office, I would have been charged an additional $50 for a cancellation fee. When I called to confront them after speaking with my insurance company, they said it was my responsibility to check before the appt. I think it is morally wrong to know that you are not in network and that your in-network status has changed and you fail to notify your patients. Unfortunately, it appears that they care little about their patients and families and more about making money. We will never return to Polka Dot or Newpark orthodontics simply because of its association with Polka Dot. Also, you can get a free cookie from Crumbl and a free water bottle if you leave a 5 star review...that is messed up! read more

Clean & inviting facility. My son is almost 1 & I actually didn't know that you should take your child to the dentist just to become acclimated to the dentist atmosphere. I learned that from Polkadot's website. Upon arriving, You have the option on the website to fill out AND SIGN all New Patient paperwork (which I thought was awesome!) So that when you do arrive for your appointment, all is left is to scan your insurance cards & ID. The staff has a cute board for new patients announcing the child's name on it, a carpeted play area surrounded by chairs for the parents & patients to sit in while waiting. Once you walk to the back, it gets better! The check up area is open. You can see the other children who are also waiting to have their teeth cleaned (which I think is great, makes others feel slightly more comfortable that other children their age are having the same thing done.) They have private rooms, more for those who need more private 1 on 1 time. Dr. Ariaban is EVERYTHING you could hope for in a Pediatric Dentist. She's gentle,attentive, and informative. She doesn't use words that you may have to look up after the appointment. Between her & the awesome staff she has behind her, my son will NEVER see another dentist as long as I stay in the area. (Even then I may not change) Mind you, this was our FIRST visit and I already can't wait to go back in November! Make Dr. Ariaban & Polkadot Dentistry the place for your child. My son had an abscess from a infected baby tooth. I had to point it out. It was missed by the dr. Then she gave us a RX for an antibiotic with my other sons name! I went to another Dr for a second opinion, he pulled the tooth immediately and said abscesses can lead to serious illness. Short story- I felt like I was in an assembly line at Polkadot. read more

My 4 year old son had an appointment today to have a cavity filled. This was the second of 2 appointments. The first went so well that we wanted to forgo the "laughing gas" this time because we couldn't afford it (even with it being discounted). The dentist would not let us proceed without it and said we could either cancel and be charged $50 (cancellation fee) or proceed WITH the gas. Despite explaining to them why we couldn't afford it (gas or winter coat), we were still given this ultimatem. We were never told that the gas was required before making these appointments, and honestly it should be our choice. We canceled and WILL NOT be paying the cancellation fee. My son was recently evicted from his home, and his Christmas is in jeopardy. Things are hard enough for him, and now he has to wait even longer to get his tooth fixed. We were left with no choice but to cancel. I honestly wish we had gone with someone else. read more

BEWARE!!!!!! WORST ...... Experience EVER in my entire life. My kids have been to 2 different dental offices growing up and they performed excellent work. Never ever have had a problem until we came to this office. We moved so I took them to Polkadot and what a huge mistake it was. Extremely poor customer service and care. This so call denist miss diagnosed my girls and seem to not know what in the heck she was doing at all. They was 1st of all rushing from the very beginning and this Dr. NANA could not hardly explain to us why she added so many things to this treatment plan. Seem very odd and it was extremely suspicious to me. My husband said she needs to go back to school because there is absolutely no way a MD wrote this up. Took them to another denist afterwards that we found to be one of the top skilled denist in Atlanta. This denist also informed us that with the treatment plan Polkadot had given me it was incorrect and there was so many flaws. They recommend me definitely not take them back to Polkadot . This doctor added several things to the treatment plan that my girls did not even need. After letting another denist review what Polkadot had given me they were SHOCKED as to why she would add all these things on the treatment plan that was not even an issue with my girls teeth. Half of the things on there were incorrect. If you decide to go here you may want to seriously get a second opinion 1st. If not you will be sorry. read more

A year ago my husband and I took our children to polka dot dentistry for a dental cleaning, it was their first time going to the dentist and were kind of nervous. The receptionist was friendly and soon after we were greeted by the dental hygienist. The hygienist informed us that we all couldn't go to the back together (we have 3 kids) and only one parent will have to go in. I could tell she was frustrated but she agreed to split us up. I was placed in a room with my son and my husband in another room with our other 2 children. Now at this point the hygienist is going from room to room setting up the trays and getting everything ready, I can tell she's in a bad mood and is rushing to get us out of there. The office is small the rooms are small and they booked a lot of patients in one day. My son is crying, nervous and anxious and doesn't want to get his teeth clean, the hygienist is not patient at all and at the end he didn't get his teeth clean he only got the vitamin on his teeth. The dentist comes in to check his teeth, she see me struggling to calm my son down which she replies "oh you guys are best friends huh" in a sarcastic tone. She took a quick look to my son's teeth and left, she didn't try to get to know his patients and we felt rushed the whole time we were there. My other 2 children did okay they weren't crying they cooperated with the dental hygienist and they still didn't get their teeth properly clean. We are never going back and my advice to you is if you have a anxious child don't go here. They lack patience and don't tolerate crying, frustrated children. I dont even want to imagine how they treat autistic (special needs) children. read more

This practice is an absolute fraud! I have been bringing my children here since they were 2 years old. Within 8 months my daughter went from having no cavities to 8 cavities, needing 4 root canals and 4 crowns. This was a massive blow to me as a mother. I have been so diligent as care taker to ensure the best oral care with my toddlers. When I heard this horrific news I was blind sided and Dr Nana's bed side manners were short and matter of fact. I felt such trauma for my child and myself as a parent. She spoke to me for about 3 minute and was gone to the next patient. I went to get a second opinion and was told the excessive amount of decay should have not only been detected through x-ray but also by the naked eye. Also, come to find out her poor nerve was exposed and she never wrote a prescription for an antibiotic. My poor child is suffering and will need extensive surgery and I hold Dr Nana and her practice responsible. We found lots of love, support, care, and EXPERTISE through Children's Dental Zone. Please consider another practice before Polk a dot. They are here for profit....NOT your child best interest!!!! Also when I expressed my concern in a stern voice she threatened to call security on me!!!!! She is a scam artist and a joke! read more

The receptionist who set up my appointment was efficient, friendly and was able to accommodate my scheduling needs. All the support staff were patient, kind and gentle with my son who was slightly afraid. They were able to help quell his fears and help him to relax so he could get great care. The decor was very child friendly but functional, the color scheme was very inviting and the lobby had several toys including video games to help keep the children interest while waiting to be called. Which by the way, our wait time was not that long at all. When DR Nanna came to introduce herself she had a huge smile and a huge belly...lol...she was due to deliver within two weeks but you can tell she was passionate about her children and practice. She gave us practical advice, listened to our personal needs, put us on a plan for my son to have healthy teeth now and in the future. When my son was done he was given a goody bag , a toy to enjoy and took a picture with Dr. Nanna. As we left they asked for my son to take a picture to represent the dentistry which we were honored to do. They were also able to accommodate our special needs when it came time to make a follow up appointment. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a pediatric dentist. I did some heavy research before I settled on Dr. Nanna and I can attest to the fact that my experience was just as wonderful as all the other people who had voted her #1 three years in a row. read more

Wow! How I wish my dentist visits would be this fast and stress free. After reading hundreds of reviews trying to find a good dentist for my five year old I found this practice. The reviews were all true, this practice and the dentist Dr. Nanna are amazing! Even though the waiting area was full we were called in less than 10 minutes after arriving. Parents are welcome back with their kids and are offer a sit next to the child. Everything was fast, however nothing felt like they were in a hurry, it was just the right amount of time. The place was super clean and it's very child friendly with games for various age groups. They were so professional, kind and knowledgeable, a very uncommon combination now days. Won't recommend Polkadot Dentistry especially if you take appointments on Saturdays they will rush and doesn't clean the teeth properly. First time when we went there they made us wait for 20 mins and also the cleaning they rushed it. So want to try and give a second chance when we went to the appointment 20min late as they made us waiting for the first time they said they cannot do the cleaning as we are late and they are closing in 10 mins. Cancelled the appointments and returned. back. Don't recommend this dentistry as it is a waste of time and doesn't do the cleaning properly. Just took my 2 year old daughter here for her very first dentist visit, and honestly wow, just wow. First off, the office is so pretty, clean, modern and kid friendly. Cute paintings on the walls, modern waiting room chairs, great toys for the kids to play with and books as well, and the front desk clerk was beyond friendly. I was very nervous with how my daughter was going to react, and don't get me wrong there were tears but, very few and immediately after having her teeth cleaned she was all smiles and not scared. Dr. Nanna was so incredibly sweet, patient and great with my daughter. She went through each tool she would be using with my daughter, showing her, letting her hold them, etc. Then she showed my daughter what she would be doing on a stuffed dog with giant teeth. It was great! During the cleaning my daughter sat in my lap and I laid her down on her back with her head in Dr. Nanna's lap. The cleaning/exam was very fast, and thorough. While the exam was happening there was a TV on the ceiling playing a cartoon movie for my daughter, Tangled (which we requested out of the many choices they gave us). I really could go on and on about how great our experience was. I will refer Polkadot to all of my friends for sure. read more

We love coming to polka dot dentistry! They're always attentive and friendly to their patients. We live in Acworth and don't mind driving an hour+ because Dr. Nana is so patient and caring with my daughter. My daughter loves coming here and never cries.
