Smoke fills the air. I know I'm at the right place. Wood is stacked by the side of the restaurant. I order a whole chicken with fries. Under $20 with 2 sides. :-) Aroma from the smoke seeps from the meat. Thin layer of skin cannot restrain it. Spices are coated on the skin and the flavors mix with the smoke. Chicken is tender, juicy, and has delicious flavor. The sign outside makes me think of El Pollo Loco Chicken but their chicken lacks a smoky aroma and flavor. Love the flavor of the french fries here. I suspect they are fresh as they are full of potato flavor and I have not had fries that taste like these. Service was fast and friendly. One of the most flavorful roasted chickens that I've tasted. Pollo A La Brasa's specialty is a fire roasted Peruvian style chicken cooked in a brick oven using real wood. I ordered the whole chicken dinner that comes with rice and bean for about 13 bucks and a skewered chicken dinner with 3 skewers, roasted potato, and corn for about 7 buck. Both dinners come with their spicy green peruvian style hot sauce that is out of this world. If you are in a hurry, order their roasted chicken. They continuously make batches of the chicken so chances are it is ready at the time of your order. I, however, decided that I needed more food and ordered the chicken skewers as an after thought and had to wait 15 min. Not worth the wait, the chicken was dry and too salty. The potato and corn were ok. Then there is still the roasted chicken - delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy and wore it's smokey crispy brown skin on top of meat that was deliciously infused with flavor. And a day later, it was still good as a snacked on cold roasted chicken while watching TV! Life is good. Next time? More roasted chicken and maybe the grilled beef heart. read more

They have aji sauce to go with the chicken, but be warned, it's pretty spicy and adds a great kick to your meat. The staff can get you in and out pretty efficiently; so don't let the long lunch lines deter you. Parking can be a little tricky, so you may end up parking on the street. They have seating to eat inside but the table are pretty dirty. The two sons run the place most of the time and they are pretty rude and just want to collect your money! I guess with all the idiot thugs around, you cant let your guard down. But maybe a greeting and a hello and Thank you. Instead of just saying "16.00". They also have the green sauce, warning its pretty hot! The best reason to come here is for their Chicken! Very moist and yummy. The wood gives it a great flavor. You are offered sides with a meal but the best is the salad, fries or rice. I tired their slaw and it was nasty! Tortillas are extra with most of the meals. I usually like order it for pick up to avoid most of the drama. In conclusion, the parking and location sucks and its in a dangerous neighborhood. The chicken is delicious. They don't have too much parking in the front so I think you will have to park on the street if you can't find parking. You place your order in the front and then pay at the end of the counter. The service here is really good. The employees are all friendly. I decided to go with the half chicken and I chose fries and a salad as my 2 sides. You basically get half a chicken (4 pieces). It's definitely a good amount of meat and they also give plenty of fries with it. You also receive a side of their green hot sauce. It's got a really nice kick to it and goes perfect with the chicken if you like a little bit of heat. The rotisserie chicken is so tender and you get a nice smokey flavor. It's really good! Food is good... But my review is strictly about the staff working there. All I can say is that they're all incompetent working behind the counter... majority of the times I've went they've managed to mess up my simple order of whole chicken only... This past experience, I walk up to the counter, place my order and wait. After waiting over 30 minutes and seeing customers come and go, I ask where my food is and only then do they start cooking my whole chicken. I asked "really?" and the woman just gave me a dirty look and said it's coming out. 10 minutes later, they take out the same chicken that was put in after my inquiry. Honestly, I would not have written this review if they admit that they messed up having me wait over 40 minutes while serving others who came after me. A simple sorry would have sufficed but when you make customers angry, they tend to speak up so until you get your chicken together, my malcontent will not go away and neither will this review. P.S. People like your sauce... do you really have to post pictures up of people stealing your sauce?? A little petty don't you think? They steal your sauce because you charge for it... perhaps include the sauce charge into the price of the meal and people won't be stealing it!! read more

The kind of chicken that causes you to make noises while you eat. The kind of chicken that makes you review it before you're even done eating. I just... wow. Flavor and tenderness of the chicken are off the charts - even the breasts (usually my least favorite piece). It's what El Pollo Loco *wishes* it could be. The wonders of the wood-fire grill cannot be understated. The sides are nothing to write home about, but they're nice to have to round out the meal. Pretty hard to find fault in beans, white rice and a green salad. The sauce was good - I'm used to paying extra for sauce, so this didn't bother me and it's only a dollar. It's a nice compliment to the chicken that gives it even more flavor with a nice little kick at the end. Some have said it's very spicy - I didn't think so, but I guess that's subjective and I'm guessing the sauce changes by the day, since it appears to be made in-house. Only docking a star because I placed a phone order and when I got there, they had no recollection of my order. I had to place it again and wait, but even then it only took about 10 minutes. I wanted to try Pollo Ala Brasas again since it's been several years. During a weekday lunch, service was slow. I had the 1/2 chicken with 2 sides. I went with the salad and rice. The chicken had a great smokey flavor, tender and juicy. However the wing was way overly burnt. The salad was pretty sad with iceberg lettuce, purple cabbage, shredded carrots, and 2 ugly pieces or beets. The white rice was boring and tasteless. It came with a container of super spicy cilantro sauce, however it didn't look very fresh. Chicken 3.5 stars. The rest 2 stars. The price was $10 and change.
