    Jalea, half order

I love Kotosh!!! It has been one of my go-to restaurants for years and I realized I have not left a review since 2014. The food is consistently great with their Peruvian and sushi fusion menu. I especially enjoy the jalea and the saltado mariscos. On the sushi side, the Halekulani Special roll is my favorite, though I have tried most of the other rolls and they are all solid. You should try the Spam roll from the kids menu. It is great for adults too. This is a spot I have chosen for special occasions, including celebrating both high school and college graduations, and it is also a place I come back to for lunch on a regular basis. It remains one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

We come here a lot! It is definitely our favorite restaurant in the area. Everything is always the best here. They did change their calamari recipe, they said, and we didn't really like it so I do hope they change it back. But everything else is always 5 stars!

Thank you Kotosh and their incredible staff for making this retirement dinner for my wife an excellent and memorable dining experience. Their were 17 of us, 2 unable to make it, but we had an incredible time. Food and service were top notch as always, thank you. The sushi rolls for appetizers were excellent but our favorite was thay spicy tuna crunch rolls, extremely good. Definitely recommend Kotosh for all family gatherings.

The food was really good. Very well made and very tasty. The green sauce is delicious. The service was very good as well. The restaurant has plenty of space for small to larger groups. Definitely a place I would eat again.

This spot nails Peruvian-Japanese fusion. My husband is religiously loyal to the Lomo Saltado--according to him, it's the holy grail: great flavor, hearty portion, and best of all, they bring an entire bottle of the green sauce to the table (none of that tiny cup, pay-extra nonsense). I usually go for the seafood fried rice--can't remember the name, but it's always delicious and generously portioned (hello, doggy bag). If you've got room for dessert, try the helado de lúcuma--a tropical Peruvian ice cream with a SLIGHTLY mochi-like texture and a flavor that's oddly addictive. We always go during the quieter hours, and the service is as sweet as the dessert.

We haven't been to Kotosh for a long time and decided to go for lunch. We usually have sushi but was in the mood for Peruvian food. Hubby wanted the potatoes with cheese sauce and plantains. I ordered the chaufa mariscos. Server was very friendly and attentive. First dish to arrive was the potatoes which my husband loved. Creamy sauce with a hard boiled egg . Plantains were next and it was nice and hot plus a generous portion. Ordered California roll which were filled with crab meat so they were large and delicious. My rice dish was last and had lots of different fish which gave it a delicious flavor. Food was top notch and so was the service.

Had an amazing dinner here last night. The service was great! We ordered a few appetizers including tiraditos de atún and yellowtail, pulpo al olivo, and calamari. As main dishes I had ceviche de pescado and my friend ordered lomo saltado w/ beef and shrimp. Everything was well prepared and fresh. Absolutely recommend for a casual but good quality Peruvian meal.

PERUVIAN SUSHI! This lovely restaurant is a great fusion of traditional Peruvian food and Japanese sushi. The service is fantastic, ambience is casual. I've been here a number of times but haven't been here in a while since I don't live near anymore but it's the same as before, DELICIOUS! Here is what we had this time: Lomo Saltado with Beef always a must! Arroz chaufa with chicken, so savory, and great with the addictive green sauce. We also had the Acevichado roll, machu piccu roll, and albacore tataki roll, they were all great and a unique fusion of Japanese and Peruvian. I recommend you come here and order family style so you can try more plates.

    Cebiche Mixto

My friend and I happened to be in the Lomita area for lunch -- which is quite rare since we live pretty far away. Since we were nearby, we decided to finally stop by Kotosh Restaurant, a place I had heard great things about for a while. We ordered just the Cebiche Mixto and a glass of wine, because we supposed to eat lunch. Everything was wonderful. Our server was very kind and friendly. She mentioned that all the staff members are Peruvian Japanese / Japanese Peruvian (I wasn't sure which way she meant, but either way, that explains the great mix of cultures!). They all seem very friendly. My friend, who is originally from Peru, said the cebiche tasted just like the authentic ones back home, which is quite a compliment! The restaurant was very clean and comfortable -- not fancy, but cozy and welcoming. The prices were very reasonable, especially compared to similar Peruvian restaurants in West Los Angeles. I was really impressed. Next time, I'd love to try one of their main dishes and their modern-style sushi rolls. Highly recommended!

What a delicious meal. Started off with Albacore Nigiri ($6.00) and Yellowtail Nigiri ($7.00). Good quality fish and nicely seasoned rice. They add a touch of ponzu on the Albacore. The small salad ($7.00) came with fresh greens and a tasty, creamy salad dressing. The Tallarin Verde with white meat ($23.00) is probably one of the best chicken katsu that I've had in a while. The chicken was moist and thinly breaded with panko. The crispiness was fantastic. The pasta sauce was flavorful but not overpowering. The dish also included 2 pieces of fried potato, which were also very good. Dining area is about 5 tables and a sushi bar. They softly play Latin music in the background. Service was very friendly and prompt. There is parking directly out front plus additional parking at the end of the lot. I asked if they make a spaghetti and meatballs dish. They told me it's available on the Kids menu but they could accommodate me by making an adult size version.

    Sudado Mixto

There's good Peruvian food, there's good Japanese food, but have you ever had Peruvian-Japanese food? Kotosh offers just that. Okay, mostly Peruvian food is the jam since that's more limited in the area but here we go: The Sudado Mixto was a delicious mix of seafoods that just soothes the soul. You get hit with a nice hearty, savory sauce smell that you just gotta dish over rice or any carb you can get your hands on. I had to control myself lest I eat more than my dad. The Tallarin Verde is a favorite of mine personally, but did you know they serve it with chicken katsu here? Yeah, that juicy crunch of katsu mixed with the tonkatsu sauce and tallarin verde is a unique mix of Peruvian and Japanese done right. Loved the texture and flavors complementing each other. My mom got a chirashi bowl and said the seafood was all very fresh. Enough said. So there you go, Peruvian-Japanese food is an unusual combination but somehow it just works. Although the menu's a bit more like Peruvian and Japanese food rather than true fusion, but there are a few items that incorporate both elements into one dish so go and explore!

Always enjoyable time eating at Kotosh. Today was an exception in that we go to meet up with some friends that we haven't seen in probably over ten years. We enjoyed a nice lunch and the hospitality was even better. I know it has never been a disappointment with the hospitality, but today was great. Enjoy....

I've been here twice and only had their Peruvian dishes so I can't speak to their sushi. If you're looking for a traditional sushi experience this is not the space for that. But if you want Peruvian, particularly their soups and broths, I highly recommend coming here. Decent portions of seafood and wonderful flavors

I am disappointed in myself for waiting this long to try Ueno Sushi. I've been driving by this location on Carson st for 10 years. It used to be something else (Thai maybe?) before it was a sushi restaurant. I think it was something else before that. I never went here because I thought the food would be mediocre given the history of changes but I was so wrong. SO WRONG! I came here on a Friday night for a party of 1 and while the restaurant was full and many customers were coming in for their reservations, I did not have to wait. The Sashimi Combo 10pc was surprisingly generous. Every single piece of sashimi was huge. I honestly thought they forgot to cut each piece in half lol. It also comes with a bowl of rice, salad, and miso soup. I finished the night with blue fin toro sushi. For those who might find themselves confused like me, this is labeled Sushi on the menu, but it is better labeled as nigiri -- the sashimi on a small ball of rice. It comes with two pieces and the tuna was HUGE. I almost couldn't see the rice! I was blown away by what I was getting but it makes sense given the price I was paying. I was so happy. Overall, great food, wonderful portion sizes. Downside is the pricing but it matches what you're getting. The biggest downside is the parking. It is a small parking lot so you may have to get street parking. Other than that, I'm coming back.
