The pros: the 3 piece chickens are pretty good; the grilled chicken salad bowl is good; and they pack their boxes nicely and neat. The cons: the empanadas are a bit greasy; the portion size for everything is small; the chicken nuggets are small and for the price i can get 2.5x the amount from Chick-fil-A; and their portion size for their sides such as rice, yuca fries, and plantains are small as well. Overall, the flavors for most of their foods are there, but the price/portion is not worth it! You will end up spending more just to be full. read more

I went back for my fourth time. I had the 3pc. Fried (breast & wing), w/ Yuca Fries & Plantains. Their chicken breast is among the largest of all the chicken chain restaurants. The crust stays on, and the taste slaps! Of about 10 visits, I have never had an issue with the chicken, fried or grilled. I don't live in the neighborhood, but will be visiting this 5th. Note: usually, they are making the fried chicken to order, so fast food it is not. It's Guatemalan cuisine. They also deliver. Staff is very nice, but the primary language is Spanish. Placed an order through Postmates and the food came really quick considering I live pretty far from this location. I have never heard of or tried this place before and I'm glad I have. My family and I had the two piece meal which came with a side and dinner roll. We tried both the fried and grilled chicken and definitely prefer the fried chicken more. The skin was very crispy and flavorful. For the grilled chicken, it was a little too salty for us but the chicken was still packed with flavor. For the sides, we tried the corn salad and the campero rice. The corn salad was delicious! Every ingredient worked so well together. Only issue I had was that there was a lot of liquid in the corn salad and it was pretty soggy. We also had the fried chicken sandwich and it was really tender and delicious. The bun and pickles were really good and definitely taste better than the other fried chicken sandwiches I had at other restaurants. The prices are very decent as well which makes this place worth trying! I would definitely order from here again the next time I'm craving fried chicken. read more

Haven't had this in a minute ever since this restaurant first opened! I ordered the Three Piece Meal ($7.75) and my brother ordered the Campero Sandwich ($7.25) and Two Piece Meal ($6.25). The Dinner Roll is just plain o'l bread, nothing special. My Mashed Potatoes for side was unfortunately not as buttery as Popeyes, but still hits the spot. Of course, the main highlight is the chicken! Right away, I noticed how juicy and soft it was. The addicting tanginess from the sauce was also chefs kiss. The Empanadas, which we got as add-ons, didn't taste like typical ones but weren't bad! Wish we had some green sauce. In addition to their chicken, their Yuca Fries could seriously be their signature. I think I just fell in love with these South American, subtly sweet tasting fries. at my first visit i got a mixed order of grilled and fried. i was super psyched about that option being available. I ordered fries and beans as my two sides for my combo. the combo does not come with a drink but i like that i could get horchata, or jamaica or a mango drink. i was given a cup and i was able to taste each before deciding on the jamaica drink. i loved it. it's hibiscus tea with a hint of cherry flavor. the order arrived fast but not too fast where i did not trust the process. the staff is very nice and if one stays the food is served on a large ceramic plate. i actually preferred the fried chicken over the grilled. the grilled in a sense is healthier but i did not care for the tangy lemony taste. the fried chicken was slightly salty though. i went back to pollo campero two more times last week. i purchased an ice cream sundae on my second visit and i had a chicken sandwich on my third visit. the chicken sandwich is also available in grilled or fried. i had it fried but it was just ok. it comes with a spicy mustard and some shredded lettuce as a topping. i got the sweet plantain as my side. if i am in the area i may go back for some fried chicken and some yuca fries. overall the food is good but not that much different if one choses fries as a side item. read more

I don't think that promo is a thing anymore but damn, it really gave us both a taste for their fantastic crispy chicken sandwiches and thin cut fries that will endure forever. The good news is that these guys frequently run all sorts of similar specials that can be redeemed through their app (and that you'll get timely notifications about if you want them!). We've tried a bunch of other menu items since and have never been disappointed. You order at the front and someone delivers the food to your table. We ordered the 3 piece chicken combo meal which includes one side and a roll or tortilla. If you're okay with just dark meat (leg and thigh), the combo meal is $2 cheaper. You can get the Campero fried chicken or the citrus Peruvian grilled chicken. We ordered the Campero fried chicken, the sweet plaintains side, and a roll. We also ordered a large mango drink (free refills). The fried chicken was crunchy and juicy. The portion of the side was a bit small though. The place was clean and there's a lot of seating. Next time, I'll try their grilled chicken and the fried yuca side. In my opinion, hands down the best fast food fried chicken in the world. They are originally from Guatemala and now all over the world, even in China. When you think fried chicken you normally think of KFC or Popeyes. But once you have this, it changes your fried chicken world! It's so crispy when it's fresh, not dripping with oil or gooey at all. But yet, juicy! Even the white meat is so good. This one is their newest location in Brooklyn! We love it with their fresh crunchy coleslaw. Just don't expect American coleslaw which is full of sugar. Theirs is fresh, crunchy and oh so good. They have great fried Yuca. Great sides like rice and Campero beans. Desserts like flan and tres leches. Yummy yummy!! This food brings every Central American back home like nobody's business. This place was awesome! I just had this for dinner tonight because I was craving fried chicken that wasn't KFC or Popeyes. I found this place accidentally and decided to give it a shot! The person helping him get my pickup order was also really nice. I don't speak Spanish, but that didn't stop us from communicating. I tried both the fried and grilled chicken. The fried was so good! It reminded me of KFC's original recipe where the skin is all crunchy and just crunch with no flavor. This was still fried, but it had so much flavor to it. It also wasn't too greasy. The chicken was so moist and so much flavor! I normally don't like grilled chicken either, but this grilled chicken was also delicious! Wow! I wasn't expecting it to be so good. The grilled chicken had a lemon pepper taste or something. I can't pinpoint it, but the seasonings they used made it taste really good. The grilled chicken was also really moist and not dry! Wow! I highly recommend coming here for their chicken. This is much better than KFC and Popeyes! Their sides were also great too. The food was soooo good. I ordered a family meal, with two sides, yucca fries & French fries and guava juice. Honestly have no complaints. The staff was very nice to my friends & I, despite us asking for a million condiments lol. She was so sweet that she gave us one of each just to try it every one out. You can tell that the chicken that they serve are far from artificial and gmo free. It was so authentic tasting, even down to the texture of it. The food is alright, it's what you would expect for cheap fast food. It's good if you're in the mood for some quick Hispanic food and it does just that. Some things like mashed potatoes or the little bread that comes with some meals just doesn't taste good. But what helps balance out the food is the chicken. I think the grilled chicken is probably the best thing they have on their menu. I've tried it a few times and it never fails to taste so good. Some people think it's great but you can go to other smaller places that have similar stuff for cheaper and have better taste. read more

The corn salad is one of my favorites and I always get the horchata drink. Service has improved so much since opening day. I'm so mad I cannot remember her name, but this young lady is one of the best customer service fast food workers that's ever served me. Friendly, thorough and made several menu suggestions and didn't rush me at all. The rest of the staff seems to defer to her so maybe she's the manager but keep it up girl! They tend to have coupons and I think you get value for your money. The restaurant on the 3x I visited was clean. I have never used their restroom and there's no alcohol served here (FYI).
